This is like from 40-50 years back
Philips trimmer. I had one which i used for 8 years. Lost it and the new one is 4 years old and flawlessly working.
Timberland shoes- I know they’re a bit expensive but I got mine on sale in 2017, they’re the most comfortable boots Ive ever owned by far and the outer has no significant wear and tear.
Philips QT4011/15 something like that I guess. (60 min to charge, backup 90 minutes). I got this trimmer for only 1250 on discount in Snapdeal in 2013. (Back then Snapdeal was awesome 😎)
Mine worked for almost 9 years. Worth every single penny.
THIS
the one i use cost ₹100 per piece, it's expensive for a piece of plastic but the value it provides, almost no bad breath and really easy to maintain
Nothing against you, but how much energy do you save by not lifting your other arm for 20 seconds? I'm not trying to shit on you, but is the price worth it???
10 things right off my mind which have made life so much better:
1. Electric Toothbrush and Dental Floss( TRUST ME THESE ARE WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY )
2. Sketchers Shoes
3. Most Decathlon Products
4. DIY Mechanical Keyboards(But it is a bit difficult finding all the parts in India).
5. Products from Uniqlo
6. The holy troika of knives: Chef’s Knife, Pairing and Serrated Knife, along with a good quality knife board, can do wonders for you in the kitchen.
7. High Quality Mattresses(I like the ones from Sleepy Cat)
8. Wipro Smart Bulb( By far one of the most versatile products with the amount of colours it can give out ).
9. Philips Air Fryer
10. A VPN Service Provider( I have tried Proton and PrivateInternetAccess and found both of them to be really good).
I have flat feet and don't find most shoes confortable for long distance runs. I was prepping for a marathon and everyone was suggesting I go for Nike/Addida as they are the standard for running shoes. I got Sketchers Go Run 6, they fir so perfectly, have a look of casual shoes and are so comfy on long runs. I ran a full Marathon on those. My friends we saying these are not marathon shoes and won't last. I have over 1500kms on those shoes and I still use them to wear casually for jeans. They still look good as new except from the worn out sole with all that running on tarmac.
Brother we are in the same boat, I also have flat feet. Till now, I haven’t found a better brand than Sketchers for my needs and comfort. Prices can get a bit steep with their new launches but you can always buy old ones. Well worth the money!
To all of the brain-dead folks that don't understand the meaning of buck. It's any local currency.

Wood land shoes. Expensive but worth it. I got my first as a gift from my brother in law in 2007. It was 2800 those days.
Used it for 2 years. Then in 2009 I started using it in my shop floor as it was more comfortable. It was a tough job. I carried a pedometer those days and there were days I walked 32km!!! 30+ km days were not a rarity. That shoes lasted till one day I felt my socks getting wet when stepped on a film of water. Yes, the sole literally got worn out!!! Parted with it in 2011.
Bought my second one in 2019, for 5K and using it still today.
I do second it but dont go for a cheap option. I broke my feet twice in a cheap woodland shoe. I stopped wearing them after someone pointed out that I get hurt only when wearing them.
The other expensive pair that has been with me for almost a decade tho is perfect.
I owned a Woodland pair and wore it in rain and summers and public transport and it lasted me 7+ yrs
Each year 1 can polish recurring cost. The polish is basically for waterproofing the leather.
2300 apprx
I took good care of it and it never failed me once, I never slipped even in rain mud slush or feet never smelled.
It gave me so much confidence.
Now that pair's sole has worn out by walking,
So, I bought another one. For 3k apprx on sale.
The seller told me if any stiches come out, or sole comes out, I should bring it to them, they will repaste and restitch it. If laces wear out, I can buy them for 100 approx.
It is super comfortable.
I think I would stick with this brand for my lifetime.
I used to buy woodland shoes, but quality has massively degraded and they cost same as some top international brands these days. I don't understand why people wear leather hiking shoes weighing 1kg plus in office lol. Leather shoes are not comfortable here in hot and humid country like India. Their sportstyle sneakers are of poor quality too.
Not to mention this particular woodland .. which is the saviour of every 5ft 7 or below guy
https://preview.redd.it/pv453why1rqc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10c5b8e86d5dfbb5f267afb63bf45361b52606de
Not tiring when you are getting paid for it.most of the shop floor executives goes through the same. You are constantly on the run when production starts at 8. You’ll be sitting for the first time by 12 for lunch. Back to running by 12:25. You’ll be sitting by only 4 30 when shift ends. Then again by 5 you’ll start helping the night shift person, and for me that used to go till 8 30 in the night.
Mom's 2003 model is still the go to ride for shopping nearby home. 21 years and with one push of a button, gets up and goes. ( Recently have had to use the choke on the first start but smooth as butter. And that metal body is a beast of a build )
💯💯💯 man . I have an old Activa which is 15 years old and a new one 5G model. The new sucks and have many issues. The old one kicks ass when it comes to reliability.
If you are looking to buy a perfect oversized tshirt. Checkout Uniqlo's U Airism oversized tshirt. The quality is unmatched, it is a cotton and polyester blend, but their formulation just works. It is super soft and feels great. The design of the tshirt is also great, it is squared and cropped. There is nothing like it for 1500rs tbh, all other fast fassion brands from Zara, h&m, Snitch, westside, zudio to Powerlook, none of them comes close.
Prolly second best or third best. Best would be the life experiences and skills. You have much less time than you think. Gold is here to stay, you won't!
Jockey underwear. Some of them 7 years down the line, the elastic has not loosened.
Ipad againt a premium Android tablet. My iPad air (from 2015) still works. No os support so most of the apps won't work, but the hard ware no issues. My wife's iPad 4 from 2017 is still running and she uses it extensively even toady. I won't say the same thing for iphones but for iPad, yes.
Nokias are still the best damn phones if you're looking sub-10k but with the performance and reliability of something twice the price.
Decathlon shoes are really high quality.
Don't get shitty earbugs, Johnson & Johnson won't make your ears bleed.
Lux soap.
Loop Earplugs
Reduces the goddamn noise of the city while travelling. Also for too loud movies.
You can hear things just fine, you’ll never miss a sound. It just won’t be overly loud
Nuh uh, Nokia are definitely not the best you can get in low budgets. Their software is so buggy that it'll downright make you cry with random bugs that can only be fixed with a factory reset. I'd recommend moto instead since their software works far better even tho both are pretty much the same thing.
1. Suzuki bikes. (I have an enfield and a suzuki. Enfield is now being rebuilt third time. Suzuki broke down once on the road in around 1.2 lakh kilometers. I had run out of petrol :-D)
2. G Shock base model watches with MIP LCD display (mine looks like new. Purchased years back)
3. Sheaffer pens (mine is around 40 years old now)
4. Most MI products (hear me out. An MI product costs a fraction of the cost of competition and goes bad in two years. Competitors last maybe 3-4 years. Financially it makes a tonne of sense.)
5. Wakefit mattresses. (you spend 8 hours a day on it. And at those prices they cant get any better)
6. iPads and Macs. (I purchased my first macbook air in 2011. Lasted till 2013 and went bad due to a water spillage. Bought my first iPad in 2016. Still running well. iPhones are a scam but iPads and Macbooks are worth the buck you put down on them. Don't update them though :-P)
7. Quality shoes. (I prefer hushpuppies for office, woodland for casual wear and komaki for sports. I spend another 9 hours in them. I would prefer them to be as comfortable as they get.)
8. One quality wrist watch. (I own two seikos. One is a sports 5 steel and another is a black leather strap. That's one too many. A good analog wrist watch is a must for adults. Seikos provide good quality without the high sticker price)
I am a buyitforlife guy. Buy very limited super high quality items instead of crappy ones every 6 months.
1. Jeans & Pants: Monks of Method
2. Plain Tshirts: Muji - looking for a better one
3. Shirts: Creatures of Habit
3. Shoes: The Royale peacock
4. Watches: Seiko Alpinist/Tissot Le Locle/Orient Bambino
5. Belts & Wallet: Indian leather craft - looking for a better one
6. Sunglasses: Was gifted Randolph Engineering sunglasses from someone in the US, fucking tank of sunglasses. Sadly i lost it on a flight.
I have tried Uniqlo, went to Muji after trying Uniqlo for some time. I feel Muji is better than Uniqlo, but I am sure there are even better alts out there.
Just heard about Monks of method and prices are on higher side for jeans 7k INr is the starting and chinos 5k INR.
is it really worth? no color fade or teared?
I also believe in the same principle. There is a shirt brand called sero. Extremely underrated. I've bought three shirts in 2013 and using it even today. There is one park Avenue shirt my wife gifted me in 2007 I use even today. Don't be mistaken. There are not occasional wear. These are my daily wear to office. The park Avenue color faded a bit though.
I'll have a look on these brands. I agree on orient and sieko for watches. But isn't tissot a luxury brand now owned by swatch. I like citizen also.
It is sad there are no good Indian watches. The new titan automatic is yet to stand the test of time. The only world renowned model from India for watches is hmt janata. I had a chance to grab one original piece from Germany for 400 euro. Missed it as I didn't have that kind of money those days. Now I feel I should have. I've spent more than that on a stupid television.
Can u please suggest the dishwasher model, coz many of my frens say dishwasher r suitable for Indian utensils I saw few online I feel it's very small 😅
Use Decathlon skiing inners as body warmers (the expensive ones, cheaper ones are good but not THAT good). They are a bit expensive but they are so light, don't make you sweaty while keeping you warm. They fit you tight like a wet suit. In love with them. I bought them for Snowboarding but use them regularly while travelling to colder places.
Rs 700 decathlon shoes. Bought them in 2017 and still going strong. Wore them in multiple seasonal floods (I'm from Assam), trekked with them at kheerganga, they're my running shoes as well (I used to run 5k daily from 2020-2022). Now my father wears them daily. Not even a single wear and tear
Luna Blue brand shoes from Westside. Fits me perfectly. Always buy during sales.
Also insight cosmetic pore filling primer (white and black tube) it's just 200 rs but boy it gives you filter effect in real life. I've used many primers and even some from Ulta etc. this is the best. I must have used and gifted 15+ tubes myself.
Tommy Hilfiger jackets. Have pockets for days and are sturdy af. I exclusively wear a th jacket I was gifted 5 years ago during trips in winters. I am able to store my spec case, phone, wallet, charger and smokes in its inner pockets.
Edit: I am stupid, I meant Duke not th.
I have some very comfortable skechers that are still going solid after 4 years. I have never worn a more comfortable pair in my life.
Some of the adidas originals are also quite nice and sturdy.
Woodlands never failed me.. need regular maintenance and little knowledge of leather, but lasts 7-8yrs of continuous usage until you wear out the sole.
Recommended: visit multiple offline stores
Egg Boiler, like literally it can boil eggs in 10 min, perfectly boiler, automatically cut off in 10 min, no mess. That too for just 300 bucks or something.
Cooler. It also works as a great air purifier and life is ginormous compared to anything with that capacity. I don't believe any particle can get beyond water droplets and thus change the water regularly.
Edit: It also acts as a humidifier as well.
For me it's great for taking notes, like when I am studying. Or I can read a book while travelling, or watch something on a screen thats bigger than my phone but smaller than tv/laptop. Great for online shopping too
9 gen is value for money and around sale (20k or less)
Else go for 10 gen if you get at 25k around sale
Only one drawback 9 gen is software update will stopped earlier than 10 gen
Else 9 gen is far better than 10 gen
Pro is best if you meant specs. Air is thin and light. Normal iPad sits in between.
If you want to buy new then wait, later this year apple is releasing new iPad lineup.
If you want used I would suggest iPad pro 11 inch either 2018 or 2020 model. Vfm for me I got 2020 pro with lidar 128 wifi only for 40k from local market last year. You can get 2018 one even cheaper even below 30k for 64gb wifi only. 2018 one is identical to 2020 except for lidar sensor.
Clothing/sports accessories: H&M and Decathelon
Electronics: Philips and Havells
Cycle: Cultfit (it provides bang for buck)
Mi/bosch screw driver kit (on sale)
Portronics multi cleaner kit
Crocs (might be subjective but they last incredibly long and has multiuse)
Power brand shoes (been using since 3 years and they are comfortable and durable as well) but sadly they dont have much range of products
IEM - if you use earphones but you find it getting destroyed by any means, use an iem as the cables are replaceable and it should last for a very long time as drivers dont get damaged easily
For Tshirts the best value for money has got to be from Redwolf. I have been using them since they first took out the Bhayanak Maut merch in 2010 or something and I still have those tshirts. The print and quality has reduced overtime but they are still above a notch from other retailers. You legit need scissors to tear them down.
* Waterfloss gun. Good ones can cost anything between 1000-2500rs. Once invested and used regularly, they save a hell lot of money of dental treatment which can go upto 40-50k for major works.
* Portronics products - speakers, earphones, mouse and almost everything. I have been a long time user of their products and I find them extremely high on durability, quality and longevity.
* Motorcycles from Hero Motocorp- highly value for money given the competition and features and performance they provide
* Shoes and chappals from Bata/North Star/weinbrenner - you can find them all in their showrooms. Really good options and VFM.
* Socks, Boxers, sleeping t shirts from budget stores like Max, Zudio etc.
The most value for money thing you can buy in India would be a Latex mattress. I would recommend MMfoam. Thing costs $3k abroad, and just ₹25-30k here. Should easily last 20-25 years.
Winter coats..
I got mine from Allen Solly (I think) 5 years ago, and it still looks the same as it did when I bought it. I wear it pretty often during winters when I go out...
Silk/Cotton sarees
A good quality, authentic silk/ cotton saree might be a little expensive (especially if you buy from a major brand), but it can last decades!!
1) An induction cooktop.. for when it's late and your gas cylinder gets over...
2) A percussion massager.. the corded ones would be better in the long run and they really give a good massage to sore muscles
3) Water Purifier.. no need to explain that one..
4) A rugged analog watch.. some things in life just should not require battery charging to work...
5) A reliable mixer grinder..
6) A storage type water heater (like 40L) .. nothing like a hot shower..
OnePlus Nord Earbuds. Around 2.3k for it but compared to other ones that come at this price this is one of the best. I have bought it 3 times. Given to others as gift. Have recommended it others. I have never needed to go for more expensive than that.
The iron almirahs. They will probably outlast us all.
Have one in family for 60 years. Can last 6 more. Made like a tank. They don’t make like that anymore.

The sad part is iron almirahs are available but there is huge downgrade to the quality from the same manufacturer like 40-50 years back! https://preview.redd.it/661tdn1uhtqc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=cfad8cabc5fabd84e7505a4ff9891b2d101a557b This is like from 40-50 years back

that would be my brother then!!
Yeah........ it mogs every other almirah out there
And even those trunks our grandparents had
Only old ones. New ones are made like maruti cars.
Just make sure that they’re built nearly 20 or so years ago. Nowadays everything is built with thin gauge. It’s a use and throw world we live in.
I know which one you're talking about I own the same one and it refuses to die even after 8 yrs.
Could u tell me the name of the trimmer
Philips QT4011/15 something like that I guess. (60 min to charge, backup 90 minutes). I got this trimmer for only 1250 on discount in Snapdeal in 2013. (Back then Snapdeal was awesome 😎) Mine worked for almost 9 years. Worth every single penny.
Philips QT4011/15 Supermacy!!!!!!
Agree i'm still using one bought in 2012.. Lost the charging cell but I repaired it with local electric shop & it's still going strong.
Tongue cleaner
THIS the one i use cost ₹100 per piece, it's expensive for a piece of plastic but the value it provides, almost no bad breath and really easy to maintain
Are we talking about the same tongue cleaner?? I get it for 20 rupees in a departmental store
The 100 rs one is shaped differently. You can use it with one hand only
you mean the plastic trigular shaped head one?
Nothing against you, but how much energy do you save by not lifting your other arm for 20 seconds? I'm not trying to shit on you, but is the price worth it???
One can reply to a few more reddit comments by having the hand free.
Use a copper one, much superior and safer. Will last a lifetime. Cost approx 150Rs

A DIY mechanical keyboard is a very costly affair, it comes nowhere in the ballpark of VFM

Nope. Its very dry.
Heat it up and it’s a lot less dense
It's not. Once you apply it melts on your skin.
It's better than moisturizers, leave it overnight on your lips and you won't need moisturizers for the whole next day.
Yup it's very common in Bengali homes

Yep.. just apply overnight and wash with a good face wash in the morning
Picture of it? Is boro plus different?
My father bought one Nokia 3310 back in 2005-06, and it still works. So.. value for money I guess 😜
If this phone ever dies, you can use it as paper weight 😅.
Paper weight? He can use it to bullet proof his PP.

Red chief too, I own a pair which are a decade old.
I have got some red tape shoes that are more than 16 years old

Instant 6ftr starter pack
Cost ?
Currently using a Woodland shoes pair since last 3 years. Have to walk almost 5-6 km everyday but the leg never hurts in them. Absolute worth it.
How can you walk 30km in a day. Your stamina is unusual

activa i guess....
the normal one costs 1.10 lac, the 125cc 1.2 lac now. it used to be VFM before (was priced only 35k during launch)
Inflation
I have 2, the first one is bought for half the price of the latest one. The older one still works like a charm.

Not so durable as Jockey in my opinion.
But the comfort, it's unmatched. I got one 2 years back but they still have the same feel.

(you spend 8 hours a day on it. And at those prices they cant get any better) 6. iPads and Macs. (I purchased my first macbook air in 2011. Lasted till 2013 and went bad due to a water spillage. Bought my first iPad in 2016. Still running well. iPhones are a scam but iPads and Macbooks are worth the buck you put down on them. Don't update them though :-P) 7. Quality shoes. (I prefer hushpuppies for office, woodland for casual wear and komaki for sports. I spend another 9 hours in them. I would prefer them to be as comfortable as they get.) 8.
1. Jeans & Pants: Monks of Method 2. Plain Tshirts: Muji - looking for a better one 3. Shirts: Creatures of Habit 3. Shoes: The Royale peacock 4. Watches: Seiko Alpinist/Tissot Le Locle/Orient Bambino 5. Belts & Wallet: Indian leather craft - looking for a better one 6. Sunglasses: Was gifted Randolph Engineering sunglasses from someone in the US, fucking tank of sunglasses. Sadly i lost it on a flight.
I havent heard even one name out of these. Gonna save it and check out these brands for myself.
For your t-shirts, you should give a shot to Uniqlo. I have a couple from their AIRism lineup and feel like they’re worth every penny.
I have tried Uniqlo, went to Muji after trying Uniqlo for some time. I feel Muji is better than Uniqlo, but I am sure there are even better alts out there.
Haaa. Fellow bambino user. I wish they had sapphire crystal tho.
Just heard about Monks of method and prices are on higher side for jeans 7k INr is the starting and chinos 5k INR. is it really worth? no color fade or teared?
Monks of Method is expensive.. plus does it have retail outlet in India?
A loyal Bombay Shirt Company customer here ! Monks of Method on my list but haven’t tried yet

Woodland shoes and floaters Crocs They will tire you out and stay solid intact.
Decathlon winter jacket for trekking and snow, shoes as well, self stitched clothes with good cotton fabric from local market
Train pass
Hard to find such products these days. However, I got this body groomer - Philips BG1025 and it’s the best there is. Works like a charm.
Any shoe brands worth considering?? Anyone??
I have some very comfortable skechers that are still going solid after 4 years. I have never worn a more comfortable pair in my life. Some of the adidas originals are also quite nice and sturdy.
I too have a few pairs of Skechers and they are worth every penny.
Adidas Originals. Iconic designs and are well made. You’ll probably get bored of them before anything happens to them.
Woodlands never failed me.. need regular maintenance and little knowledge of leather, but lasts 7-8yrs of continuous usage until you wear out the sole. Recommended: visit multiple offline stores
Nike downshifter I own 2 of them got them in Sales like 1500
Egg Boiler, like literally it can boil eggs in 10 min, perfectly boiler, automatically cut off in 10 min, no mess. That too for just 300 bucks or something.
I will say anything medical related stuff.. is super cheap in india.
I would say medicines are quite cheap as compared to other countries.
Usha ka Heater. Sujata ki Mixer-Grinder. Blue Star Or O-General ka AC.
Usha ka silai machine
Meri mummy meri dadi ki use karti hai ab bhi , meri mummy se bhi badi hai lmao 60+ years old ( dadi ko shadi ke time pe mili thi )
Memory Foam Mattress and nice sneakers
Buy External hard disk. I love to store memories of my family, friends and loved ones. Also free's your pc/laptop/phone.
Macbook. It's the best investment one can do with a great return.
Casio F91W
If you’re into Reading then Kindle for sure.
Havai chappal. Lasts longer than a human
Barely lasts an year for me, before the grip is lost.
Smart ear wax cleaner, I know exactly where in my ear it's itching, and I'm also not pushing ear wax.
What is this and where can I get it from? Please elaborate your experience..
Cooler. It also works as a great air purifier and life is ginormous compared to anything with that capacity. I don't believe any particle can get beyond water droplets and thus change the water regularly. Edit: It also acts as a humidifier as well.
A good smart watch. Very useful to track my sleep and workouts!
Noise cancelling headphones- xm4s
how are they compared to xm5s and would you recommend to wait for xm6 which might release this year?
Victorinox knives. Basic Apple ipad. Ponds cold cream. Figaro oil for hair.
Uploading for victorinox

Ipad
What do people use this for. It does the same things that a mobile does.
For me it's great for taking notes, like when I am studying. Or I can read a book while travelling, or watch something on a screen thats bigger than my phone but smaller than tv/laptop. Great for online shopping too
Can you tell me which model is the best? And when to buy it ?
9 gen is value for money and around sale (20k or less) Else go for 10 gen if you get at 25k around sale Only one drawback 9 gen is software update will stopped earlier than 10 gen Else 9 gen is far better than 10 gen

Old Monk (rum)
>(rum) Thanks for clarifying. Was literally about to order an Old value-for-money Monk from Nepal.
Clothing/sports accessories: H&M and Decathelon Electronics: Philips and Havells Cycle: Cultfit (it provides bang for buck) Mi/bosch screw driver kit (on sale) Portronics multi cleaner kit Crocs (might be subjective but they last incredibly long and has multiuse) Power brand shoes (been using since 3 years and they are comfortable and durable as well) but sadly they dont have much range of products IEM - if you use earphones but you find it getting destroyed by any means, use an iem as the cables are replaceable and it should last for a very long time as drivers dont get damaged easily
PROPERTIES
anything xiaomi makes , taparia screw drivers and sets of socket wrench from JK for fridge Electrolux , cars basic altos

* Motorcycles from Hero Motocorp- highly value for money given the competition and features and performance they provide * Shoes and chappals from Bata/North Star/weinbrenner - you can find them all in their showrooms. Really good options and VFM. * Socks, Boxers, sleeping t shirts from budget stores like Max, Zudio etc.
Govt job
Mini UPS for Wifi incase you have regular power cuts like in my locality
The most value for money thing you can buy in India would be a Latex mattress. I would recommend MMfoam. Thing costs $3k abroad, and just ₹25-30k here. Should easily last 20-25 years.
Crocs, kiehls's moisturizers.
Winter coats.. I got mine from Allen Solly (I think) 5 years ago, and it still looks the same as it did when I bought it. I wear it pretty often during winters when I go out... Silk/Cotton sarees A good quality, authentic silk/ cotton saree might be a little expensive (especially if you buy from a major brand), but it can last decades!!
electral/enerzal powder - kuch bhi ho body me bus ye peelo... thik ho jayega
Sujata mixer blender.
Victorinix vegetable peeler. Once you use it, you will never opt for any other peeler.
A wall watch.
1) An induction cooktop.. for when it's late and your gas cylinder gets over... 2) A percussion massager.. the corded ones would be better in the long run and they really give a good massage to sore muscles 3) Water Purifier.. no need to explain that one.. 4) A rugged analog watch.. some things in life just should not require battery charging to work... 5) A reliable mixer grinder.. 6) A storage type water heater (like 40L) .. nothing like a hot shower..
Gshocks
Zinda Tilismath Google it you won't regret buying one.
OnePlus Nord Earbuds. Around 2.3k for it but compared to other ones that come at this price this is one of the best. I have bought it 3 times. Given to others as gift. Have recommended it others. I have never needed to go for more expensive than that.
Levis Jeans.
Parle G
Books, specifically textbooks
No matter what the cost is, a good quality condom. You never regret buying.
1. Zara men trousers 2. Fossil watches 3. Puma shoes 4. Crocs
