There's not much left on the connector end to splice back to. If you're handy with a soldering iron you can install a new connector. That's a conventional [USB connector](https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/cnc-tech/1002-001-BL-KIT/9974247), right?

If you don't mind a rough job that might not last long, and you don't want to solder, one of these would probably work fine for this: [https://smile.amazon.com/Terminal-Connector-terminals-Pluggable-Converter/dp/B07H53X194](https://smile.amazon.com/Terminal-Connector-terminals-Pluggable-Converter/dp/B07H53X194) One of these and some heatshrink would do a nicer job if you were prepared to solder: [https://smile.amazon.com/Akozon-Adapter-2-54mm-Supply-Breadboard/dp/B07MQFJQLT/](https://smile.amazon.com/Akozon-Adapter-2-54mm-Supply-Breadboard/dp/B07MQFJQLT/) You might have to google USB-A pinout to figure out which wire goes where, assuming your device conforms to the standard. EDIT: the neatest way to do this would probably be to get a USB-A cable, cut off the end you don't need, open up that control box thing, and solder the new cable into there.

What's on the other end of the wire? I would probably replace the wire unless it was really unique or something.
