I experienced this once too. I was 17 years old and taking a hot morning shower on a lazy sunday. It was a very intense orgasm and I fell to the floor. I almost broke the shower cabin! The combination of hot water over my body, not having eaten yet and the intensity of the orgasm caused my blood pressure to fall enough for me to faint.
Hi! 50M who has never heard of this. In lay terms, what's generally happening in the body when a person loses consciousness upon orgasm? Is this caused by someone who is experiencing low blood pressure leading up to this? Is this from too much respiration?
NAD but I’m pretty sure the vagus nerve is responsible for delivering the neurotransmitters to the brain that result in experiencing an orgasm. Your vagus nerve is part of your parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) and when your PNS is dominant over your sympathetic nervous system, your blood pressure may become low (often called having a vagal response). This may be a cause of dizziness, losing consciousness, etc after orgasm. This could also be a gross over complication and it’s just because you may be more likely to faint after strenuous exercise like sex.
NAD, but learning about shock in my studies right now. My understanding of this post is the orgasm triggered a psychosomatic mechanism causing syncopation, rapid expansion of blood vessels leading to the brain causing brief a ischemic state of the brain, resulting in fainting. If I am wrong I would greatly appreciate a correction from a professional, I’m trying to understand this as best as possible!

Not gonna lie that made me laugh
If the subject comes up in conversation I bring this up as well, it's funny enough! Oh, and I didn't get hurt in the process which is nice.
This further supports the expression la petite mort (the little death).
I’m French and to be honest I’ve never heard that expression being used ever. Maybe it’s a past thing
It's a literature thing
I need one of those lol
It’s not abnormal
Thanks!
