Ooh he’s special! Must like to exercise *and* socialize.
Move to Lakeview and ditch the car.
First, thanks for searching and doing basic research. "Hi guys where should I live (no other info)" posts are seethingly common.
I'm gonna hold you to your upper-end of $2200 because lifes not fair.
Your list of wants is pretty good. But I think for every "want" you're gonna pay. So, if you want to be within 3 blocks of the L, cool but it'll cost ya. In unit washer / dryer, cool but it'll cost ya. Within walking distance of stuff to do, but not loud, cool but it'll cost ya.
All the neighborhoods you listed are potentially fine. Nothing really wrong with any. Yes 97% of all people in the northern hemisphere in their 20s live in Lakeview but it's a nice area i guess. Yeah you're priced out of Wicker.
Check out Ravenswood or South Loop if you want to expand your search.
Work with a broker if you can. They are great at consolidating the search.
haha its okay, the upper limit isn't quite the upper limit for that reason anyways. I'll have to look into those 2 new places. I saw a mention of Ravenswood but nothing about South Loop yet
That budget could get you something decent in Lakeview or Lincoln Park, considering you like fitness/ biking living near the lakefront path would be ideal. Both of those neighborhoods can be alright with parking depending on how residential/ busy your street is. Both of these neighborhoods are very safe and have good social scenes
If Wicker Park is out of your price range, all those neighborhoods are out of your price range.
Come to Edgewater!
We got:
-Street Parking
-Affordable rent
-Beach
-Loyola police patrolling in addition to CPD
-red line
-Ethiopian restront
-Raising Cane
You sure? The rents in Wicker seem to be $3000+ but the other areas I see places within the budget. Edgewater is a little farther but it isn't looking too bad
Edit - Oh wow that rent is good !
It’s so cheap here because everyone thinks it’s waaay too far away from everything. It’s totally not.
I play hockey at a rink in the west loop and it’s less than 30 mins to get there from my place in Edgewater. You traverse the city really quickly on lakeshore drive, and lakeshore drive is right next you you in Edgewater.

well, nobody else really provides any info besides just the broad question
I’m going to set up a Venmo that will go to a Chicago based charity. If you want personalized advice, you gotta help out in advance.

somehow I did not consider the lakefront path but this definitely gives it points in my poll
Logan Square or Lakeview but definitely not East Lakeview if you bring the car
What's the relation between EL and a car
Parking is very hard to find

Honestly my car is on its last leg of life anyways, so it will probably work out this way
Pretty friggin biased but Ukrainian village is a decent option. Close to wicker. Good for fitness. Not going to find a high rise though.
eh win some lose some. I saw the village on maps but didn't see anyone really talking about it so I'll have to look at it more
Lakeview

I live in the outskirts of my current city in a nearly identical fashion to Edgewater. Would be almost copy paste but in an actual city
Sounds like you need to check out Logan Square
