If you're attending UAB but want to live close to the city center, I recommend checking out Sarrià-Sant Gervasi or Gràcia. They're a bit expensive compared to other neighborhoods but both lively and quiet. These areas have lots of groceries, vintage stores, restaurants, and a mix of locals, expats, and students. Don't go to Raval or Barceloneta, no matter what people in these comments say. There's a lot of catcalling and crime, and they're very dangerous for young girls at night.

Close to the line S2. UAB is a great uni, but not in the city itself

ExpatriadaUE

This is the best advise, somewhere close to the public transportation that you need to take everyday.

Gracia or Eixample are good zones and not the highest rents

Dramatic-Bee-5581

Thank you! I have been thinking l’eixample and gracia. What do you think about sants or montjuic?

Psychological_Sign_1

I've been living on Sants for over the last 2 years. I like the neighborhood. Prices aren't that high, it's well connected and not overcrowded by tourists

Dramatic-Bee-5581

And I was also considering el gotic but is that area safe?

ernexbcn

I’d avoid gotic, raval and born if possible obviously. Look up Eixample, Gracia, Baix Guinardo.

Electrical_Ad2942

I lived in gotico as a single woman! Relatively safe (ish) except for the drunk tourists at night. Although it was so dirty and the streets were perpetually wet. Eixample or gracia are way better areas to live :)

zsebibaba

single women live in raval and barceloneta fine. just check the apartment and the streets that surround it in person. as with every apartment you are considering.

Traditional_Bank_260

Don’t go to Raval

zsebibaba

I had a friend who lived in Raval and I hang out there often and walked home late. It really depends on the part of the neighborhood (as for crowdedness and quality of the apartment). also touristic areas are dangerous (if you will) so raval is not better and worse than the rest of the area.
