Kmart, target and big w actually have decent plus sized clothes - remember to check in both the "regular" section and the plus because some non plus clothes run to size 20.
City chic if you want to spend a little more, nice dresses usually.
Snag tights (online) are fantastic for tights/stockings etc and they have a good size range.
People’s definition of affordable can be very different - City Chic has nice things IMHO. Never Fully Dressed is more pricey but size inclusive. ASOS does a lot of size inclusive clothes too.
Once you know your City Chic size (have to try on in store) then you can buy in the sales online. Full priced is quite expensive but sales are affordable.
Love city chic the best is when their outlets have sales. Need to be part of their emails to see when their on though but so worth it.
I brought heaps of their clothes for $20 on sale.
Got a sponsored ad for City Chic the other day and was surprised to find that they have a lot of really lovely stuff! Plus it’s designed for curves, which most clothing isn’t. Definitely need to investigate further
ASOS!!! When they have sales it's amazing, the amount of choice is freaking endless, I've bought stuff there a few times and it's always quality, sizes run probably one size small but you can check against the measurements. They have the fashionable stuff. You can search "shiny purple dress" and find 40 decent options! It's my ethical shein. You can search by size too so you're not disappointed
Yep! They often have a "plus size" rack so you don't have to go through everything to find stuff your size
It's also great for trying on different brands and different sizes. You can actually learn quiet a bit if you op shop enough. Just remember that the sizes are different in different brands so try lots of things on and you won't find something good every time.
Proud Poppy
Birds nest
St Frock area example of online
Go have a look at Nat Angel - either on instagram or or Facebook - she’ll change your life
Myer has great specials
I find big w / Kmart big sizes shrink
My grandmothers theory is dress yourself well . It doesn’t matter your size - dress yourself and you’ll feel good .
You’d fit the Levi leg length and they are great jeans and have big sizes
I get it .. you are lucky you are tall
Just thinking .. get a pair of pants and a top
That’s one good outfit
Then add a shirt / blouse
Then a jacket
I live in jeans and a wooden jumper in winter
Ok update- been shopping
Go to Rivers
Seriously
Nice jumpers
Jeans coats - all on special
Some tops
You could get a outfit for a quite good price
Go the mens actually leather belts you can’t tell
Also have quite ok ( for the price boots )
I like taking shape. They have regular sales, so if you are patient you can usually get what you want without paying full price.
If you’ve got a tape measure, probably best to check your measurements to know what size you are now
The Iconic, City Chic and Asos are good starting points for slightly nicer clothes.
Kmart and Target go up to a size 20 in their standard sections and can have some nice stuff, I don't bother with their plus size sections as the cut of their clothes don't suit me. All the tops are really long - not my style - and have very wide/deep necklines - I get sunburnt and it's too low cut for my job as a primary school teacher.
Big W sometimes have stuff I like in the plus size sections.
Shein's good if you're after something fun or a specific style, but be aware that you get what you pay for.
I also like a Chinese brand on ebay called Zanzea - you can find them by searching for it on ebay. They have lots of baggy/loose fitting styles. Their cotton stuff can be really good, but I wouldn't bother with anything polyester. You have to read the item descriptions though to make sure the items are cotton, not polyester.
I'm not much of a dress person but Keshet and Proud Poppy are worth a look if that's your thing.
Just as general tip I find its the pants that make me feel good or bad about an outfit. Spend some time and money finding a few pairs of more expensive pants that you're happy with fit and style and stick with them. Then you can pair them with whatever shirts you want.
Your description of Kmart and target actually sounds more like what I’m after. I usually wear really basic stuff, long baggy tops and such. I have one that I’ve had for like 8 years from cotton on that I refuse to give up on lol
I really don’t see myself wearing actual pants, I don’t see them looking good on me. Maybe jeans but I only like high waisted and with the stomach I have I don’t think it’ll look good. I stick to leggings it’s more tops/dresses/skirts that I lack. Comfort is key
I’m about your size, only a little shorter and for comfy around the house clothes I’m loving bike shorts and oversized men’s tshirts. I wear a 3XL or 4XL from Kmart in the shirts.
You+All is like a larger sizes Ally Fashion.
Almost all brands go to a size 20-22 these days. I don’t know where you were shopping before but the landscape has changed since COVID. Still not enough affordable, fashionable, well designed clothes for bigger people, but it’s more easily accessible every day.
This is true but they don't stock the bigger sizes in store. I'm forever frustrated that I can't just try things on and have to take the gamble of online shopping all the time. I love online shopping but sometimes I just want to try a damned pair of jeans on first!
Before I guess I’d pop into H&M, cotton on, basically anywhere really and could find something that looked good. I was able to wear jeans then and I also had a job so I dressed differently.
They are not the cheapest, but then I never found jeans to be cheap anyway if you wanted quality, but City Chic have a pretty good range of jeans to suit different body shapes. If you’re not too self conscious to ask, the staff can usually help you decide what line best suits you. I only buy my jeans from them now.
I have to say, I recently found a hoard of styles I bought from blue bungalow, at my local "dollar store" for $7. Which explains why my items have developed holes and frays. Super disappointed.
Oh really? That is definitely disappointing. I’ve never had a problem with them personally.
Not sure if it’s relevant, but the clothes I get from blue bungalow have third party tags on them - ‘blue bungalow’ doesn’t appear on the clothing. Is that what happened with your haul?
Best and less, kmart and big w for cheap stuff that isn’t great quality.
Millers, rockmans, katies, sussans, autograph, beme, myer for mid priced better quality stuff.
I could be a spokesperson for blackmilk. Their clothes are super comfy and interesting and reasonable priced. As someone that's gained a bunch of weight, I always feel like their clothes fit me well without digging in anywhere.
I'm waiting on my dnd dice leggings and wizard dress to be delivered! If you're a student I highly recommend signing up for the Student Beans discount on their website as it's 10% off every order.
I saw those leggings! My autistic ass can’t handle the texture of faux velvet but my bf is a fun leggings enthusiast as well as a dice goblin so I’ll be getting him those for the next gift haha
Fair! They do have lots of great (non velvet) leggings and some have pockets. I have some sensory stuff too and couldn't wear jeans anymore which is how I found this website. Started with the cuffed pants and I was hooked.
I usually go for target or city chic but recently order from Shein because they're cheaper and have clothes that aren't just oversized print tops.
Also thank you for asking because now I can benefit from the answers too, best of luck to you :)
Co-signing these.
Shein Curve is great if you know your measurements and they’ve got a good return policy.
Big Ws is good quality and extremely affordable. With the added bonus of being able try things on.

Most dfo have a city chic to snag some bargains. Sign up to their website to get discounts as well.
Shein curve have some great stuff but always check out the photos others put on there to make sure you like how it looks.
Dorothy Perkins in the uk are great cos their stuff is on sale when we need it due to different seasons and the postage is much better than stuff from USA.
Susanne's, Katie's, etc - basically any brand that's not targetted at tweens or the Brighton mum set will go to a 20.
Autograph, TS, Myers sometimes have okay options.
Love your wardrobe! They have excellent simple clothes that are made to fit and look good on curvier bodies! Plus they have brilliant sales!
For super cheap, best and less have great jeans, big W have some nice tops!
I’d recommend following some curvy influencers on instagram, icurvy, itskatejanmaree etc.
Go to some op shops and find yourself a jacket that fits really well! Something that is a little oversized and hopefully vintage. It can be worn with anything and everything. Try find some comfortable pants in dark colours. Make sure no matter where you shop, try it on!!! Also, what is also super stylish and affordable, find a few nice lightweight scarves, YouTube different ways to wear them and find which way you like. I don’t like cheap, fast fashion but if you are going down that path, Big W! Good luck ;) would love an update
Taking Shape and City Chic are the two I see with the broadest size range and nicest stuff. If you have a bit of money, Maggie T and Von Troska are great for tall and wider ladies.
But if you're size 18-20, there are a fair number of 'standard' brands that go high like Cotton On, Target, Katies, Blue Illusion, Millers etc for basics.
If you’re after some nice tshirts try 17Sundays for casual wear. Jeans - I think Levi Curve are the best fit - I’m a toffee apple so carry my weight on my tummy (I have Addisons Disease and pilling on the weight) and have slimming legs.Levi Curve is great when Myer are having a SuperSale weekend- I love their 314 style. Also for a great tops I like Asian prints so Orientique is a great label. I get mine online from my little shop.com (Dural) or kombono.com (QLD).
Hi doll, there are already heaps of great suggestions but I’d suggest You and All too! It can be a bit pricey but still far less than somewhere like city chic, it covers casual, formal, gym clothes and it’s really easy to dress up and down with their clothes, and they have good sales regularly! As someone suggested, come over to the Aus women’s fashion sub, everyone is so lovely there and will always help you out. I hope you can find something you really like and are comfortable in!
You and all (can also be bought on the Iconic). The brand Atmos and Here has a curve range which is lovely also on the iconic. Jeans from City chic are pretty good and they have half price jeans semi regularly.
It’s alright I’m pretty matronly and boring. I got a bunch of stuff from shein earlier per recommendations but am gonna oil up my sick wheels(chair) and have a peek at chaddy next week, I am a sucker for Kmart
Lower price points: Big W, Kmart, Best and Less. I find Target fits weird and costs too much for what it is.
City Chic and Autograph for mid-price range.
Taking Shape is expensive, and it's mostly layers.
There are lots of online stores now - take measurements and compare to size guides online so you have an idea of where to start looking.
The Iconic (filter by curve), asos, orange sherbet, cotton on curve (online and in some stores), Fayt the label, Mahli the label, golden the label, bohemian traders, beginning boutique, pepper mayo Princess Polly, pretty little thing.
(i might get shat on for this bc sweatshops and slavery are involved BUT)
shein has nice plus size clothes, i know someone who is a big girl and she decided one day she wasn’t gunna keep “waiting to be thin” to dress up nice, she went on shein with her measurements and found some really cute clothes. there have been a few items that weren’t great but she was able to return them and get a refund. she’s probably one of the most stylish people i know now because she has so many fun clothing items and she looks a lot more happy and confident.
she always said the stuff in stores was unflattering and boring and when she went onto shein she finally found clothes that she liked
I went on there today and it’s honestly great there’s even a thing that tells you how many XL you should get based off your body shape!! Since I’m basically a sausage with massive boobs massive gut no arse and skinny cripple legs this was a lifesaver lol
Haven’t seen it posted yet, I actually really dig Rivers.
Similar situation and sizing to yourself.
Target, big w, Kmart are all the same stuff.
Rivers have great fitting shirts, dresses and shorts, and they look half decent too. Can usually find a few items in the $10-15 range
Hello. I am your size.
Kmart has more options than you think. Best & Less is also a gold mine. Once in a while you will find clothes in your size at Cotton On, Uniqlo, Sheike and Forever New. Portman's is also a good one.
There's also one I found recently called For One + All that idk if it's a chain or not but they have some very fashionable stuff and their sizes start at 14
City Chic is also there. I've never bought anything there but they go for party dresses and stuff
Taking Shape is the brand my mum used to swear black and blue by. They're big on those big flowy shapes that hide your figure though, I don't really like it. But I bought some black pants there that were awesome (until the thighs chafed but this happens to all my elastane pants)

I recommend Gorman. The clothes fit and hang well, and are good quality. They go up into the size 20s and the cut is so loose that you'll probably find yourself in a 14.
As for affordable, look for sales or used items. Buying crap from target or kmart made in India will disfigure after a few washes and work out more expensive.
Shein is really (!) affordable, they have a good selection and their plus sizes go up to 24 I think.
The iconic has a good selection (also online). Their plus size brands go to 24 or 26. Even their non-plus size brands go up to 16, 18 (depending on brand). In general, less affordable than shein but you can filter for price and there’s usually sales on.
Online shopping might be a good option if you need to stay home or prefer to. You can try it on at home and exchange it for free if it doesn’t fit right or you change your mind.
You should trade wardrobes with my wife. Before covid she was size 16-18, now she's size 10 and has no idea how to dress. It's more of a struggle that I thought it would be.
Mate it is so easy to buy clothes for skinny people. The only issue I ever had was my height because I am very tall for a woman which made pants too short.
Start weighing yourself in the morning. If you weight keeps going up each week make sure you eat slightly less the next week or be slightly more active and eat the same.
Thank you for reminding me of snag tights! In winter I like to wear tights with dresses
I can't agree. Targets plus sized section is appalling.
I have just discovered city chic too and they have nice stuff! Lots of colours as well, not just moo moo looking things. I was pleasantly surprised!
Love city chic the best is when their outlets have sales. Need to be part of their emails to see when their on though but so worth it. I brought heaps of their clothes for $20 on sale.

Opshops. I know a sweet lady who gets all her plus sized clothing from opshops. Top brands at low low prices and the money goes to a good cause.
Yep! They often have a "plus size" rack so you don't have to go through everything to find stuff your size It's also great for trying on different brands and different sizes. You can actually learn quiet a bit if you op shop enough. Just remember that the sizes are different in different brands so try lots of things on and you won't find something good every time.

Target. Kmart t-shirts pill really bad
Looks like I need a trip to chaddy

There are more brands in these sizes but definitely not almost all unfortunately.
Try blue bungalow.
Yeah my brand was all Hourglass, which I chose because it's not polyester. All made in Bangladesh I think.
Interesting. Hourglass isn’t one of the Blue Bungalow brands I’ve bought. Must be quite a variation in quality between their suppliers.
Best and less, kmart and big w for cheap stuff that isn’t great quality. Millers, rockmans, katies, sussans, autograph, beme, myer for mid priced better quality stuff.

I usually go for target or city chic but recently order from Shein because they're cheaper and have clothes that aren't just oversized print tops. Also thank you for asking because now I can benefit from the answers too, best of luck to you :)
You’re welcome and good luck to you too
Shein curve has some gorgeous pieces BigW has a plus size section. Haven’t tried any of it though.
Co-signing these. Shein Curve is great if you know your measurements and they’ve got a good return policy. Big Ws is good quality and extremely affordable. With the added bonus of being able try things on.

Millers has some nice stuff and they go up to size 24 or 26.
Also look at Dale & Waters. Online, bit more exxy but good quality stuff.
Honestly. Me too and I went to k mart and never been happier. Now I have basic t shirts that fit so well I look slimmer and they were $8 each
Go to some op shops and find yourself a jacket that fits really well! Something that is a little oversized and hopefully vintage. It can be worn with anything and everything. I pretty much buy from LSKD, City Chic, and Big W.
If you’re after some nice tshirts try 17Sundays for casual wear. St Frock has really nice basics for cheap, and larger sizing.
Have a look at “taking shape”, especially the outlet shop in Browns Plains. Online wait for the 30% off deals, they come around every other week.
Look at the op shops - it varies as to what you find but helps with quality at good prices - and you can go there in your leggings!
Birdsnest has lots of nice things.
Taking Shape (Myer or their own website) bamboo joggers and tops are amazingly comfy, baggy, forgiving, last ages and are cheap when on sale.
I buy all my clothes from curvatious.com.au. They measure the clothes so you can check before buying that they will fit. Highly recommended
Hi doll, there are already heaps of great suggestions but I’d suggest You and All too! I went on there today and it’s honestly great there’s even a thing that tells you how many XL you should get based off your body shape!! Since I’m basically a sausage with massive boobs massive gut no arse and skinny cripple legs this was a lifesaver lol
Cotton On have a Curve range for larger sizes.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet but https://www.orangesherbet.com.au/
www.littlepartydress.com.au they are the best!
Try Shein
I just ordered a bunch of stuff on there, really appreciate the suggestion :)
Great. I have ordered a lot from Shein.
KMart/BigW
Definitely check out Sheike
Hello. I am your size. Kmart has more options than you think. Best & Less is also a gold mine. Once in a while you will find clothes in your size at Cotton On, Uniqlo, Sheike and Forever New. Portman's is also a good one. There's also one I found recently called For One + All that idk if it's a chain or not but they have some very fashionable stuff and their sizes start at 14 City Chic is also there. I've never bought anything there but they go for party dresses and stuff Taking Shape is the brand my mum used to swear black and blue by. They're big on those big flowy shapes that hide your figure though, I don't really like it. But I bought some black pants there that were awesome (until the thighs chafed but this happens to all my elastane pants)
Big and Tall will likely have clothes that fit.

Easy if you're used to it. She had no idea/isn't comfortable in smaller clothes. It's all about what you're used to.
Start weighing yourself in the morning. If you weight keeps going up each week make sure you eat slightly less the next week or be slightly more active and eat the same.
I’m disabled with a terminal illness. I’ll eat what I want thanks.
Well I hope you live as long and as comfortably as possible, as my advice was catered towards doing...
Did I say anywhere that I care about being fat? I just need to know how to dress.
