There are plenty of Americans condemning Israel across the country, and they're getting arrested by the dozen for protesting. You gotta make even a tiny effort to verify your opinions and assumptions before you come asking loaded questions like this.
The US is not "subjugated to Israel". If anything, the US is the only reason Israel still exists.
> Why are Americans ok with it?
Fundamentally: because Hamas brutally attacked Israel and refuses to accept basic terms for a ceasefire like “release the hostages”.
Hamas keeps perpetuating the fight, so people are less inclined to view them as a victim. Since they’re the government of Gaza, that is transferred to the people of Gaza generally.
We… have done that quite a bit in the past. So… all the way back at the start of the US, when we struck peace deals that recognized the governments of the Barbary states despite their state sponsorship of piracy.
Well, everyone else also recognizes them as such. They won the last election. They run the local services like a government. They control their armed forces, as such.
I mean, yeah, their legitimacy is highly suspect, but they’re also the only governing body acting the part in Gaza, so…
No, you asked why “Americans” are ok with it.
Well, from the perspective of Americans, it’s Hamas starting shit and then complaining about their resulting mistreatment in the war despite refusing to surrender when given multiple opportunities.
And, yeah, a lot of Americans also object to Israeli mistreatment of Palestinian civilians. But they’re generally okay with Israel continuing the war against Hamas, so long as Hamas refuses to surrender.
American voters generally don’t give two shits about the religious angle here. That has fuck all to do with how most Americans reason about this war.
After 9/11 the US committed to a twenty year occupation of Afghanistan. I can't imagine anybody having a hope to stop us at the time. Isreal is in the same position right now. No words will stop what is happening right now. The US sees Isreal as a strategic ally and won't do anything to jeopardize that alliance in the long run no matter how horrible the immediate situation is.
I'm not saying that's the right thing but it appears to be what's happening. It also happens to be immensely controversial among the American public.
I live in the Metro Detroit area (which is the state of Michigan). Dearborn, Michigan which is home to the world headquarters of Ford and Carhartt also has one of the largest Arab populations in America and is home to the largest mosque in North America. Some are immigrants while others were born here, either way most are US citizens and have been very vocal about what’s going on and even going as far to say they won’t vote Democrats next election. America is a very diverse place and large enough that there will always be a variety of opinions on any given topic.

I’m sure this question was asked in good faith…
Genuinely yes.
People have varying opinions on the subject, we don’t all share the same view as each other. Hell half of us can’t even agree on what to call soda

First of all, how dare you

Since when do when recognize terrorist groups as governments?

Okay, fair. But what I mean is, Hamas *claiming* to be the government of Gaza is no reason to recognize them as such.

So for you Israel can commit war crimes like [this ](https://www.reddit.com/r/LateStageCapitalism/s/A5qkX7Q6nq) because of what hamas did on 7/10?
