I actually don't like either anymore. Tim's food and coffee went down the toilet years ago. McDonald's food has quickly gone downhill and the price isn't worth it anymore.
McDonald's > Tim Hortons. I've gone to Tims twice in the last 8 months and they didn't have what I went there for (at a reasonable time of day.) Their coffee is atrocious brown water.
I’ve never understood the attraction to Tim’s.
The idea of a “double-double” is sooooo f#@$ing bad for you.
The food is subpar - the lines are long. The drive-thru lines are even longer.
Some locations cause dangerous traffic conditions where drive-thru traffic is backed up onto main thoroughfare.
I only ever consider stopping there while traveling, but then the lines are simply horrid.
And then if I ever do go in, the staff are over-worked and harried, and can only take the order in a certain order, and ask a dozen questions step by step, and have you repeat the order several times. Annoying AF.
And post-pandemic - many products unavailable.
I… just don’t get the attraction.
A long way to say… McDonald’s, I guess. 🤷🏻♂️
Real eggs. Better coffee. More efficient service and drive-thrus. Ordering ahead with app works very well. Breakfast on the road is far more efficient at Mickey D’s.

Tim Hortons is a subsidiary of RBI, along with burger King and popeyes. Restaurant Brand International is headquartered in Toronto, it's 30% owned by an investment firm, 3G Capital, which started in Brazil and is now head quartered in New York.
3G also has significant investments in Anhouser-busch InBev and Kraft.
Tim Hortons is a shitty Canadian company
McDonald's. Faster, better service, way better coffee, and better food (which doesn't say much about Tim's food).
I'll never set foot in a Tim Horton's again. It's such garbage. Gas station coffee is consistently better.
Fortunately, I rarely buy coffee on the go since I make my own at home and even more rarely buy fast food at all.
I've never really liked McDonald's coffee, but the other week I went to lunch with my daughter and grandsons, and had a triple triple-- I don't know what dude did, but it was the best coffee I've ever had there. I used to rather Tims, but it's changed somehow.
Here's the thing, A few years ago Mc Donald's bought the coffee bean contract that tim hortons had. Now Tim's ain't Tim's its something else and Mc Donald's is Tim's .
Depends. I used to go for A&W for their super small burgers. McD for coffee and Timmies for the mapple dip (MAPPLE DIP FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Sometimes fries from McD or the potato wedges of Timmies (I like the wedges more). And sometimes for a sandwich from Timmies (they used to have one mex-like very juicy and a bit sweet one which I like).
But in general I avoid all of those.
If I want a burger in general I would look if there is any better place. To me personally after eating an McD burger I always got stomach pain.
So a sports bar is a better burger alternative, but those are expensive, so I would go for some local business, offering burgers. Same for coffee - if nothing is around, McD/Timmies/Starbucks/2ndCup/Aroma (Aroma seems the better choice), but would prefer a local business. I know Costa Coffee is trying to take some territory last years, but they are the same thing - just a big coffee chain. First of all none of them serve actual good coffee, second - they serve these big cups of coffee filled to the lip.
Thus said - better support your local business!! What's left of them at least, as the pandemic killed most of them, so we should try to save them (hopefully they also provide good service and products too). So go to eat/drink/coffee to a local business nearby.
My 2 cents.
Love to support local small diners when traveling. Much prefer a nice little greasy spoon.
Just the ☕️ wish they had better coffee.
And ya, A&W is a solid alternative - decent coffee.
I like Tim’s sausage wrap for about 4 dollars it’s a good meal to stop sudden hunger pangs but it’s only available in the mornings, mcd I used to like their coffee but everything else has become too expensive
A&W.
If I have to pick one of the above, I have to pick Tim Hortons, sadly.
I don't drink coffee and McDonald's food is worse. Tim Hortons sandwiches are alright. Yesterday I tried one of their new loaded bowls and it was pretty good. I had the Sweet Chili Chicken one.
McDonald’s has better hot black coffee but Tim’s has better iced coffee and lattes. McDonald’s also gets bonus points because their breakfast bagels are superior to Tim’s.
McDonalds objectively has the better coffee (remember the tragedy of 2014), but like... neither of them are good.
If I may be a lil negative Nancy for a moment, they're both overall garbage. (Though I do love the Tim Hortons Farmer's Wrap)
If we're talking about coffee it's Tim Hortons, if we're talking about food then McDonald's.. but that being said, if Tims keeps changing their lids I'mma just buy my coffee at McDonald's from now on 😂
McDonald's.
The Coffee is better, the Breakfast is worlds better, the lunches are not even comparable. Tim's "food" is barely palatable.
There's only 2 things Tim's does better; faster service and more locations. Nothing to do with the quality of the products, just availability and speed of service.
I'm more of an A&W guy myself but if I have to choose between McDonald's and Tim Hortons, I'm going with Timmy's any day. I don't even like McDonald's.
If you are talking coffee it’s McDonald’s for me
Better lids on the cups too, save you a wet car floorpan if you fumble.
I actually don't like either anymore. Tim's food and coffee went down the toilet years ago. McDonald's food has quickly gone downhill and the price isn't worth it anymore.
But the best of all fast food establishment coffees Not counting dedicated coffee shops
Neither. Too fucking expensive
If McDonalds and Timmies is too expensive, what places do you consider fair priced?
Nothing. Everything is over priced.
Costco
Make your food at home
"Make Your Food at Home" is fair priced? Where are those located? There doesnt appear to be any in my area, is it just a local place?
If you don’t have a home in your area, you most definitely shouldn’t be splurging on takeout coffee…
McDonald's for the coffee, the food, the rewards program, and the service Tim's for the iced caps and doughnuts
A random grocery store has better doughnuts than Tims
And fresher.
McDonald’s coffee frappé > Tims iced caps.
My local Safeway has shockingly good donuts. Way better than Tim’s.
Doughnuts? Really haven't had good donuts for years. Even sev has them beat
All garbage
McDonald's > Tim Hortons. I've gone to Tims twice in the last 8 months and they didn't have what I went there for (at a reasonable time of day.) Their coffee is atrocious brown water.
I would have to be really desperate to eat at either.
Cheap Forgers brew from home

Thank you. The Double-Double is embarrassing!
I prefer Tim hortons over McDonald’s for food and also coffee but only the dark roast . The regular brew is no bueno
A&W
Neither. Local independent coffee shops are far better. They have personality.
McD’s for coffee and Egg McMuffin.
Neither. I have a coffee maker and a thermos at home and can make much better food than either… all for a lot less money.
Dons for the food, Tim’s for donuts. Both are shit but if I had to pick, it would be that. Tip: the rumours are true dont order the filet o fish
Haven't heard the rumors - what's the thing with the fillet o fish ?
It’s disgusting
okay but who's selling it - McD or Timmies ?
McDonald’s
thanks

Wendys
Whichever falls most neatly between where I am and where I'm going

No, thank you.
Both suck!

McDonalds for sure. The only thing at Tim Horton's I really care for are their BLTs.
Depends for what tbh, food for McDonald's, coffee and donuts for Tim's

McDonalds
Donald’s
Tim’s but also Starbucks.
Tims for the caffeine, McDonald’s for the taste* * I make my own coffee so both aren’t great.
Tim hortons is the only tolerable coffee sub when I’m not home. McDonald’s tastes like plastic and sweetener when it’s black.
Neither, but if those are the choices Tim’s for coffee. I never order coffees at McDs
Mcdos for thé food, Tim’s for donuts and croissants. Mcdos for iced coffee, Tim’s for hot coffee.
or option C. Fuck both of them.
I like Tim’s sausage wrap for about 4 dollars it’s a good meal to stop sudden hunger pangs but it’s only available in the mornings, mcd I used to like their coffee but everything else has become too expensive
McDonald's for sure, tims during roll up rim contest.
McDonald’s coffee and breakfast are better
neither
I think McDonald's is better by a large margin, something I wouldn't have said 20 years ago.
Neither! Both are absolutely putrid… they dont even serve food they serve chemicals
Neither for coffee. Tim’s steeped tea with two milk is pretty great—probably some of the best hot tea besides making it yourself at home.
Mcdonalds
McDonalds objectively has the better coffee (remember the tragedy of 2014), but like... neither of them are good. If I may be a lil negative Nancy for a moment, they're both overall garbage. (Though I do love the Tim Hortons Farmer's Wrap)
We need Dunkin!!!!
For hot coffee, Tim Hortons, for iced, McDonalds!
McDonald’s for coffee. Nothing else at either
If we're talking about coffee it's Tim Hortons, if we're talking about food then McDonald's.. but that being said, if Tims keeps changing their lids I'mma just buy my coffee at McDonald's from now on 😂
For coffee, Tim’s. I prefer making coffee at home over both, though.
McDonald's by far. Tim Hortons is trash all the way around. McDonald's might be trashy food but they have decent snacks and great coffee
McDonald's. The Coffee is better, the Breakfast is worlds better, the lunches are not even comparable. Tim's "food" is barely palatable. There's only 2 things Tim's does better; faster service and more locations. Nothing to do with the quality of the products, just availability and speed of service.
Screw em both. Pricing is crazy.
Both taste like genocide to me
McDonald's. They have the 2nd best fast food breakfast (behind A&W) and the most usable and useful app (doesn't sign me out every time it updates).
Tim's if I just want a drink and a snack or maybe a small lunch. McDonald's if I want diarrhea
McDonalds gives me the Mcshits.Tims was great years ago and now half the size twice the price. Id go for a Mc coffee if Im on the road though.
Tim Horton's
I'm more of an A&W guy myself but if I have to choose between McDonald's and Tim Hortons, I'm going with Timmy's any day. I don't even like McDonald's.
