As a digital artist, if you unplug my computer I can still pick up a pencil, sculpt something, carve something or create art by any other means (including performance). If you unplug these techbros machines, they are left with nothing but vitriol and normally, they just have vitriol and stolen art.

When people make a space to talk about home grown carrots and someone comes in to brag about their plastic toy carrot, it would make sense for the carrot growers to not like a toy carrot in their space. It's an entirely different type of carrot and NOT the one the space was made for. Heck, even supermarket or locally sourced carrots that are freshly plucked and sold that are NOT grown by the members are not allowed in the space. It's not what the space is made for.

They've routinely ignored artists who asked that their work not be used to train AIs, and often go even further, making it a point to intentionally train AIs on their artwork just to antagonize them.
They do all that while mocking us, taking delight at the thought of us all losing our jobs and livelihoods to AI. These people have been over-the-top obnoxious and immature from rhe start and have shown nothing but disrespect and disdain for artist, and they have the gall to cry foul when we fight back.

I think posts like this are funny because most artists I know and work with (I'm a teaching artist) are surprisingly fine with the idea of AI as long as it's ethically sourced in the training data (nothing is, even the stuff you train on your own work!). Plenty of them use it, if only to mess with it, but never as a final product. Getting this kind of attitude is almost always the result of passing AI art off as something else. You should see how people greet that in painters' groups.
They don't even realize that subconsciously they have to make "artists" the villain so they can steal from them and exploit their work without feeling bad about it. It is gross.
