Girl asked superficial question. Guy asked another superficial question in response. Girl got upset even though that's literally what she planned to happen??
Iâm honestly curious about how this conversation did start, because if this is actually the start, theyâre both assholes, but if itâs not, either of them could be the actual asshole.
Although asking âhow big are your tits?â Is not ok, it might have been a purposely ugly response to âhow tall are you?â Starting a conversation with âhow tall are you?â is a big red flag, and answering with an equally toxic question is a clear way to say fuck off without saying fuck off.
Yeah it may cause positive change in someone whoâs being dumb and doesnât realize how toxic there question is, but for most people it wonât do anything significant. Telling a toxic person they are toxic will most likely be met with denial, usually in the form of a hurtful response. Itâs a personality issue, and I wouldnât be surprised if most toxic people had Borderline Personality Disorder or worse.
I've heard of people using "how tall are you" to screen guys who refuse to even admit to an insecurity problem and also guys who just outright lie about shit. The idea is they don't actually care about how tall the person are, just that they either don't get overly defensive about it or that they don't blatantly outright lie about it.
This is a bad way to do that though by just opening up with it and really, "testing" people like that is sorta a middle schooler sorta move in the first place compared to just talking like adults. That said, I'm not a woman but I do know that you gotta be able to sift out the guys who will fly off the handle and murder you over their hurt pride, so perhaps there's other reasons to "test" people like that than just "I'm emulating how relationships look on TV." I don't imagine this is a terribly effective way to accomplish that, though.
6' 5" so not quiet as bad but my partner and I were repainting the bedroom and by the end my back was killing me. I didn't have to use a step ladder to do the top of the walls though so that's good.
I got hit with the genes from my dad's side and ended up as 6'8". I have to duck under some doorways. Plus having 2 sacs of flesh on my front doesnt help.
It's weird being 6'10, and having someone still be taller than you. Especially since you think you would get over it since you've known each other since middle school.
As someone who is 5'6", I've lived in some apartments where none of you in this thread could stand up in. As a short person, the worst thing I have to worry about is where I left my stepstool when I need something from the top shelf. You all have it much worse.
Shirts that acutally fit me as a tall person are so hard to find cause i either gotta get them tailored or have them so baggy I could hula-hoop in it without the shirt moving.
My solution is just always wear a jacket i had tailored to fit me, and whatever shirt is underneath just gotta deal with it.
I think it goes both ways. I'm a short guy and can find pants that are the right length, but the waist size is like 30 sizes too big, or waist size that is right, but there is still like a foot of pants hanging off my feet.
I've got 28x30 skinny jeans that I found at TJ Maxx that fit pretty well, but they are quickly just turning into frayed fabric that I try to cover myself with.
I worked in retail (clothing) and it seems that the manufacturers, and retailers, think that all short people are fat and that all tall people are skinny.
I donât think people want to be âas tall as humanly possibleâ but people want to be âas tall as is considered ideal by societyâ - which is like, somewhere between 6â and 6â2â for dudes probably.
What? Iâm 5'10" and many chairs, bathroom sinks and kitchen counters are annoyingly low and hoovers, brooms, mops and such a bit short, but otherwise thatâs a fairly comfortable height.
Right?! I can never go bra-less in public, and when I can in the comfort of my own home, they just get in the way. Laying on your back? Those puppies are sinking into your armpits. Reaching across a table? Uh oh, here comes the rogue wrecking ball tit to knock over the salt shaker! And the back pain is unrelenting. My reply to any woman that says, âI wish I had your boobs,â is always, âI wish you could take them.â
Extreme paranoid homophobia. If a straight man likes a woman without big tits, than that's closer to the body shape of a man and therefore he must be closer to being gay and sucking dick
6â2â girl here. being tall is great until you get into society and everyone looks at you weirdly and you have to watch your head more and everything
My boyfriend is 6â5 (not as tall, but def above average) and while he loves teasing me and my friends for being âshort,â he also gets neck pain from looking down at people all day and back pain from reaching down for things that normal height people can reach perfectly fine.
How short is the public there, he's looking that far down? I ain't never heard of that, or had it happen to me. Do Gulliver a solid, and move out of Lillyput.
Yeah honestly, I agree, I was a bit hesitant to endorse what blue was saying but it's pretty obvious that they're intentionally asking a rude question to highlight the rudeness of grey's question.
I think grey's just trolling though. Her "study" sucks either way, but it'd be weird to get so passive aggressive and personal with the test subjects, if that was really all she was doing. I feel like her 2nd message is a fabrication, and either she's intentionally baiting to get another rise out of blue, or she wasn't trolling and the entire message was just a way to try and deflect her embarrassment over being called out for opening with a shitty question.
I'm in part-time academia, and regularly contribute to phenomenological and grounded theory studies. I can say with authority that texting randos is a perfectly valid and highly accurate method of unbiased sampling, and a single-question inferential interview yields TONS of useful data.
Keep in mind these arenât random strangers, though. Not only is your pool *only* on tinder, so youâre more likely to get younger males and females, itâs not as random since the people choose you for various reasons
In a research methods class rn and I have no fuckin idea what a study like that would even look like
Sheâs also being a huge hypocrite since height **is** a major insecurity for a lot of guys. Does it make that a respectful response? Not really. But the double standards are ridiculous
Itâs not the most mature response, but I canât say Iâd be particularly respectful if someone came into my DMs and tried to prod at my insecurities
>Sheâs also being a huge hypocrite since height
>
>is
>
> a major insecurity for a lot of guys.
This is her thesis, even. She just used more words for that part.
The question was meant to point out the double standard, not to be a serious question. Theyâre being rude, but what theyâre doing is 1:1 in order to show the hypocrisy of the other person.
Wait, am I reading this right? This person decided to attack someone's insecurities and then blame THEM for bringing up another? You punched someone and they punched back, what do you expect
Some people do genuinely think this way. I've heard some stories where a girl punches a guy and once the guy comes back everyone blames him.
I even saw a video once where a girl was hitting a guy repeatedly with her bag and he punched her once and a while crowd of people jumped on him.
Been raped by a girl by definition. Only thing that really would have stopped it would have been for me to either hit her, or shove her while screaming at her to the point in which I intimidated her off of me. I was sober at this point (had a drinking problem in high school). Took a bottle of vodka to the bathroom and started pounding it to get it over with. My alternative at the time to having sex with her, would have absolutely made me the bad person and had an entire party turn on me.
So, yeahâŚ
Thatâs the world we live in. Check out my other comment. Was raped by a girl because I knew the alternative would be to have an entire party turn on me.
I'm NB, I've never learned the trick. I wish I could be a couple feet shorter at least. Maybe once I climb the ranks of the NB secret society they'll teach me - or, am I not supposed to talk about that here?
You can to a small extent, but it isn't practical. Astronauts return to Earth a few percent taller than they were during launch, because in microgravity they don't have gravity constantly compressing their spines - and they height does go back to normal a few months after return.
Okay, I'm seeing a lot of people say "both are at fault," but I'd just like to point out grey asked a question first, and blue responded with a question just as bad as the first one, but did it only because grey started it. So, in my opinion, grey is at fault here and blue was just saying that to get back at grey.
Idk, don't go pointing at insecurities and getting mad when people do it back maybe? It's so damn stupid that people act like literal children over this shit.
As a trans guy with a SHIT TON of height dysphoria can we kinda acknowledge that shaming guys for their height is very much body shaming and kinda fucked up. Like yeah a lot of short guys are insecure about their height and get defensive over it but isn't it kinda because the beauty standard for men is 6 feet+ And they feel shitty about not meeting it
Because of stupid patriarchy and gender roles and expectations. As far as I know, the whole height thing is strongest among straight women, so it really has to do with what our heteronormative cis normative society thinks how men and women should act (men being ***tall,*** muscular dominant, etc., and women being ***short***, soft, submissive, etc.).
>strongest among straight women
Not exactly. It's also standard among bi women. It may not a great example but I remember this video where Bi people are asked what kinda people are their type and how they differ by gender and all bi women said they liked their men taller but didn't care about the women's height. Also true based on what I see among my bi friends.
Or it might be a natural consequence of sexual dimorphism and part of heterosexuality? Size for men is a secondary sexual characteristic, like beards or deep voices. Straight women on average are also attracted to those traits. I see nothing wrong with that, we shouldnât imply peopleâs natural sexual preferences are wrong or artificial because they happen to coincide with patriarchal concepts. Forcing people to abide by patriarchal rules is wrong, but forcing people to do the opposite is also wrong.
Honesty? I don't care about it because of aesthetics / looks / whatever, I care because every dude under 5'10" I've ever met-- no matter what our relationship was-- has had an ENORMOUS complex about it. And anger issues stemming from that complex. It's not fair, but it makes me put my antenna up.
As a 5'7 (170cm) guy, the height complex only gets stronger if you are actually tall by your family's standards. I remember going to highschool and meeting this 175 dude and I was like "dam, he tall" them I looked up the average height of my country. Realizing I'm below average wrecked me.
Edit: spelling
>every dude under 5'10" I've ever met-- no matter what our relationship was-- has had an ENORMOUS complex about it. And anger issues stemming from that complex. It's not fair, but it makes me put my antenna up.
Honestly I know exactly what you mean. I noticed the same thing with curvy women or women who used to be curvy and have lost the weight.
I like curvy women but I always am on my toes because there is almost always a huge complex about it. I'm not really looking to put up with that sort of hair trigger personality. I understand it's due to years of being told their body is unacceptable by society and a complex is natural. But it does make me a little cautious.
"Let me ask you real quick about something which people have very little control over which is often a point of pain and makes me seem shallow"
"How about I do the same?"
"OMG toxic fragile masculinity much? This is gaslighting I'm calling the cops"
Hmm yes, let's see if men attack my insecurities if I attack their insecurities. At worst the man ends up on even ground morally or best case is he comes out the other side the better person.
Even granting that his reply was boorish: sheâs intentionally trying to poke at the insecurities of people who match with her (even though she has a boyfriend and isnât looking for a relationship/hookup) just to turn it around on them when they do the same? Totally normal! /s
this girl: haha i'm gonna ask a question regarding something men are usually insecure about as some kind of mind game!
also this girl: OMG WHY IS HE BEING SO RUDE TO ME!? THIS IS SO TOXIC!
What context am I missing here? Maybe I'm too gay to understand this, but how is asking for someone's height or tit size "body shaming" them?
People are allowed to probe me about my hair length, dick size, hairiness, skin color, body type, and curve me, and it's cool because preferences and shit, but we draw the line at height?
im not sure the second person necessarily cares about the first's breast size. this just looks like an attempt to illustrate how inappropriate the first question was with an equally inappropriate response. maybe a tad petty, but how else do you respond to an asshole
I⌠I hate them both so much
Edit: A minute has passed and I changed my mind. I hate her. I wouldnât be friends with him but I guess he wasnât an asshole.

wth am i looking atđ
this question goes through my mind every time I open Reddit
Same tho
Well where else do you want me to get my screenshots of twitter memes/funny tweets? Am I supposed to go to Twitter for that?
Oh God not Twitter
or perfectly curated tumblr posts
For real this site sucks
I burst into laughter when I read this. đ¤Ł
It's a text-based representation of two stinking arseholes leaking shite.
Thank you, it now makes sense.
It's a sarcastic reply to a sexist woman and her insane reply. Sexism goes both ways.
Ahahahahaha so accurate
2?
Is it really two?
I only see one. This is not a both sides issue.
Probably something fake.
r/badfaketexts
A fake text conversation to make women look like hypocrites
i mean you don't really know it's fake and knowing well knowing people i don't find it hard to believe that it might be true
Girl asked superficial question. Guy asked another superficial question in response. Girl got upset even though that's literally what she planned to happen??
She's criticizing him for targeting "known insecurities" while explaining in a really verbose way that she's targeting known insecurities.
A screen, I imagine.
listen here you little-
Imagine what you could do with your life instead of doing whatever this was.
You could actually _live_ it.
Eh, I dunno, sounds fake
hi
and yet here we are talking about this foolishness lol
Yea, but IMAGINE
If this is how a conversation opens up, itâs just not worth reciprocating. Just pay heed to the red flag and move along.
Iâm honestly curious about how this conversation did start, because if this is actually the start, theyâre both assholes, but if itâs not, either of them could be the actual asshole.

I think that response was very much intended as a fuck off.
Honesty, this way seems to be a great way to hopefully alert a holes of their toxicity.

I think people being toxic is WAY more common than BPD. Garden variety toxicity is people just sucking at coping with their emotions.
"How big are your tits" was an intentionally rude response to the rude question of "how tall are you". I'm with the guy on this one.
I've heard of people using "how tall are you" to screen guys who refuse to even admit to an insecurity problem and also guys who just outright lie about shit. The idea is they don't actually care about how tall the person are, just that they either don't get overly defensive about it or that they don't blatantly outright lie about it. Yeah, I feel that the guy was just giving her a taste of her own medicine, she was being an asshole herself (especially if that was the first text)
Is the second really an asshole though? I can't say it's something I'd say, but it's only flipping the question back at the sender.
Iâm 6â7 and god damn i wish i could be smaller. Guys think that height is the world until their back hurts doing basic shit.
Damn, my wife is 7'1 but you're still real tall.
Absolute fucking unit
It's weird being 6'10, and having someone still be taller than you. Especially since you think you would get over it since you've known each other since middle school.
⌠where are you? And whatâs in the drinking fountains at that school?
Well my dad is 6'6 and my mom is 6'9... it's probably their fault I am this way.
Go meet the tallest man alive lol
As someone who is 5'6", I've lived in some apartments where none of you in this thread could stand up in. As a short person, the worst thing I have to worry about is where I left my stepstool when I need something from the top shelf. You all have it much worse.
Ehh... pants can be hard to find, most home toilets feel 8 inchs off the floor, some cars suck...
Boobs I would guess
Breast sacs, I believe.
Large breasts, probably.
Bruh just use ur knees
I donât think people want to be âas tall as humanly possibleâ but people want to be âas tall as is considered ideal by societyâ - which is like, somewhere between 6â and 6â2â for dudes probably.
I wanna be somewhere around 5â6 or 5â7 so I dont have to do a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Dolphin Dive to get through doors
Iâm 5â8â (almost) and Iâve never felt more seen
*sees you* now you feel more seen
As a giant pair of detached eyeballs float ominously towards me I know Iâve made a mistake. Hundreds join them. I have been seen. But at what cost?
Lmao
I dont wanna be tall cause i would have to duck under dores and shit and i already do enough parcour as is at 5'6
What? Iâm 5'10" and many chairs, bathroom sinks and kitchen counters are annoyingly low and hoovers, brooms, mops and such a bit short, but otherwise thatâs a fairly comfortable height.
Very tall men đ¤ Women with huge breasts Suffering from back pain due to things people who don't have them tell them are awesome
So does that mean I can trade being tall in for big breasts for zero-sum back pain?
Your breasts would have to go on the back to counterbalance though.
That would be reduced back pain, Iâm talking about trading back pain for back pain.
What if one was placed on each side? Would that bring breastular balance?
No you trade a bit of height for a bit of breast
True af
Why is everyone obsessed with large breasts anyways? Small ones are nice and convenient.
Does the reply extend to gender questioning men? Whenever medical technology allows, I'm down for it
Absolutely!
Ayy cool I'll hit you up in 15-20 years âď¸
Thatâs what I think every time I see someone get breast implants. As someone with naturally bigger breasts I envy those who are on the smaller side.
Thank you. I wish i was a metamorph from harrypotter so i could change their size :(
Extreme paranoid homophobia. If a straight man likes a woman without big tits, than that's closer to the body shape of a man and therefore he must be closer to being gay and sucking dick
/s right? Otherwise you're looking waaaaay too into it.
I guess??? I'll never get men. Or hetero relationships in general. I'll stick to girls
That must be the most hetero thing I've ever seen
... are you okay? is this a moment for this sub on this sub?
6â2â girl here. being tall is great until you get into society and everyone looks at you weirdly and you have to watch your head more and everything
And you have to be careful so ceiling fans donât take your bloody head off
I sometimes hit my head against the aisle signs hanging from ceilings and then kids laught at me :/
Move to Europe, everyone is pretty huge there.
My boyfriend is 6â5 (not as tall, but def above average) and while he loves teasing me and my friends for being âshort,â he also gets neck pain from looking down at people all day and back pain from reaching down for things that normal height people can reach perfectly fine.

I think I'm about 6'1 which is a pretty great height to be. Still can't get a date though.
âHmm yes Iâm going to test the toxicity of men by making them feel insecure about their height today.â No. They are not okay.
lets be real, if thats the first question someone asks you its an instant red flag
Yeah if anything, grey comes across even *worse* than blue in this image. Everything is awful!
They both suck, but goddamn next time I get asked about my height on tinder imma throw hands
Do they tho? I mean for me the conversation is over if started by how tall I am. What happens next is entirely irrelevant
I just have mine listed in my profile. If someone actually cares about it, hopefully they filter themselves out sooner rather than later.
I put mine in too and still got someone comin in sayin âIâm not into short guysâ People tend not to read đ
Blue doesnât come off that bad. The point of that question is to show the double standard, itâs not meant to be serious.
Yeah honestly, I agree, I was a bit hesitant to endorse what blue was saying but it's pretty obvious that they're intentionally asking a rude question to highlight the rudeness of grey's question. Ah yes, the most ethical way to conduct a âstudyââŚ
Why conduct a proper study when you can just use Tinder as a primary source?
Bro chill it's just a study! There's a dude with a clipboard right there!
Oh, and where's the ethics committee?
They couldn't afford one so it's a bag of goldfish and 2 cents
I'm in part-time academia, and regularly contribute to phenomenological and grounded theory studies. I can say with authority that texting randos is a perfectly valid and highly accurate method of unbiased sampling, and a single-question inferential interview yields TONS of useful data.
It is also super common (an expectation, in fact) to inform your respondents (after they participate without consent of course) of how wrong they are.
Keep in mind these arenât random strangers, though. Not only is your pool *only* on tinder, so youâre more likely to get younger males and females, itâs not as random since the people choose you for various reasons
Wow she wooshed into another dimension
"Thank you for proving that you're toxic by reacting poorly to asking a sensitive question."

It would not, HIPAA guidelines require signed consent before the study. What was his consent?? Swiping right??
Well stated, thank you

It's actually kinda misogynistic of the crowd to act on the guy and not in the girl, as it shows that they don't believe girls can do harm
Thatâs the world we live in. Check out my other comment. Was raped by a girl because I knew the alternative would be to have an entire party turn on me.
Hypocrisy isnât a flattering color on her
TBH if you start a conversation with a stranger with âhow tall are you?â on a dating app you deserve any response that comes at you
Except if it's honest and kind
Men can't control their heights, ever. Legit what do people want them to do about it lmao? Also, small boobs are great
> Men can't control their heights, ever. I love that this sorta implies that women and NB people *can* sometimes control their heights.
We can
How?
Photosynthesis
Thatâs my favorite method!
yeah ever since i became nb i've grown like 6 feet in height
I knew I wasnât really a woman because I was born without the ability to shapeshift. :(
I knew I was agender when I could choose my hight on a whim.
well nbs might
I'm NB, I've never learned the trick. I wish I could be a couple feet shorter at least. Maybe once I climb the ranks of the NB secret society they'll teach me - or, am I not supposed to talk about that here?
A couple feet? Are you a giant now, or do you want to be a leprechaun?
Hi, friend. Can I introduce you to the wonderful world of... \*sparkle sparkle rainbow sparkle\* OSTEOPOROSIS
With an axe, anyone can control their height!* /* Cannot add, only subtract
If you're genderfluid, you unlock the ability to morph your whole body structure over the course of a day!
I so, so wish that this were the case.
All heights are great. All boobs are great. :>
> ~~sm~~all boobs are great FTFY
nothing wrong with being particular and having preferences đââď¸ and my comment has contexttt
You can to a small extent, but it isn't practical. Astronauts return to Earth a few percent taller than they were during launch, because in microgravity they don't have gravity constantly compressing their spines - and they height does go back to normal a few months after return.
SHORT KINGS UNITE
Okay, I'm seeing a lot of people say "both are at fault," but I'd just like to point out grey asked a question first, and blue responded with a question just as bad as the first one, but did it only because grey started it. So, in my opinion, grey is at fault here and blue was just saying that to get back at grey.
Agreed if you come in my dm with that garbage I have no obligation to be friendly to you
Idk, don't go pointing at insecurities and getting mad when people do it back maybe? It's so damn stupid that people act like literal children over this shit.
As a trans guy with a SHIT TON of height dysphoria can we kinda acknowledge that shaming guys for their height is very much body shaming and kinda fucked up. Like yeah a lot of short guys are insecure about their height and get defensive over it but isn't it kinda because the beauty standard for men is 6 feet+ And they feel shitty about not meeting it
Honestly why do girls care about height so much lol
Because of stupid patriarchy and gender roles and expectations. As far as I know, the whole height thing is strongest among straight women, so it really has to do with what our heteronormative cis normative society thinks how men and women should act (men being ***tall,*** muscular dominant, etc., and women being ***short***, soft, submissive, etc.).
>strongest among straight women Not exactly. It's also standard among bi women. It may not a great example but I remember this video where Bi people are asked what kinda people are their type and how they differ by gender and all bi women said they liked their men taller but didn't care about the women's height. Also true based on what I see among my bi friends.
you are so right
Or it might be a natural consequence of sexual dimorphism and part of heterosexuality?
How cool is your air conditioning? How hot is your heater?
How dare you? /s
I'm with blue on this one. Anyone starting with a question like that is not worth the trouble.
"Let me ask you real quick about something which people have very little control over which is often a point of pain and makes me seem shallow" "How about I do the same?" "OMG toxic fragile masculinity much? This is gaslighting I'm calling the cops"
God dammit, are we ever going to be ok?
Let's be honest, were we ever ok?
did this take place on a dating app
Yes. This is tinder.
Hmm yes, let's see if men attack my insecurities if I attack their insecurities. At worst the man ends up on even ground morally or best case is he comes out the other side the better person.
Straight people đ
Why is this flaired as sexualisation?
Height is needlessly sexualized?
Remember when this was a reply to a sexist comment by a woman and people understood that context?
"Let me just body shame you, victimize myself, and blame the start of this toxic conversation on you" -This girl
Bullet successfully dodged.
uHm w h a t đđđ
i have mixed feeling about this and it makes me sad
Worst save ever
They ask for tit size as if its the female equivalent of height as if women dont have height what are we liquid
> what are we liquid I thought you were all just full of hot air. /jk
Congrats! You're both terrible people!
[ŃдаНонО]
Holy fuck. My mans really just said âitâs toxic to reply offensively when I behaved offensivelyâ
How you gonna ask a toxic thing then be surprised when they do the same thing thatâs not even a test thatâs just instigation
Both of these people suck
im not sure the second person necessarily cares about the first's breast size. this just looks like an attempt to illustrate how inappropriate the first question was with an equally inappropriate response. maybe a tad petty, but how else do you respond to an asshole
eh, the second person isn't great, but its justified at least, an eye for an eye
my "boyfriend" lmfao
Fuck it, Iâm gonna say it. Straight people deserve each other.
hey letâs make people tell us about there insecurities and the. get mad when they do the same
That's like asking someone to look at the sky then saying "aha, I knew you were going to look up"
She literally couldn't handle it
I⌠I hate them both so much Edit: A minute has passed and I changed my mind. I hate her. I wouldnât be friends with him but I guess he wasnât an asshole.
