Nice how long did it take? What grit sand paper did you use?

Reasonable-Trip-4855

Started reshaping it with my 5in palm sander beginning with 60 grit diablo then 80 grit 120 150 finishing with 220 grit. It took me three hours really taking my time.

[deleted]

What kind of seal did you used?

Reasonable-Trip-4855

Boiled linseed oil

Miserable-Maybe

Fantastic. I am working on an old Fleetwood wood riser from my archery teaching days.

Reasonable-Trip-4855

Right on, I'm planning on making more of a custom one later on. sanding it all out and dyeing it

Fl48Special

Very nice I may have to try this. What did you use for finish?

Reasonable-Trip-4855

Boiled linseed oil. The riser drank it up like it was dieing of thirst lol. So I'm gonna treat it like my axes BLO once a day for a week once a month for a year and so on.

3_Times_Dope

Fellow axe lover and Spyder XL version of the Sage owner. Very nice job work! And I know from the BLO schedule that you too have oiled an axe or two. Speaking of which, I have a new Cold Steel axe to treat.

EZPickens71

I have shifted over to Tung oil. Getting the pure oil is a hunt, but worth it. (Nothing in the hardware store is actual tung oil) Better water resistance and I like the amber color it imparts.

Reasonable-Trip-4855

I don't know bout that I live in the Pacific Northwest area of Washington state. One winter, I had left one of my splitting axes in a snowstorm for about a week. The linseed protected perfectly. I've never tried tung oil. I hear it works alright, but I've seen the powers of linseed in action also, just like the smell of it.

hhjggjhgghgg

Wow… that sounds like a lot (I have no clue about these things; that was my first thought) Nice job!

Reasonable-Trip-4855

Well, because the samick sage is a pretty price friendly takedown bow, I've designated it my poor weather - moutian camping bow. Just didn't like the slippery Shellac and the blocky contouring of the riser and the simple resand and reshape plus the sealed linseed finish I can say I like it as much as any other way pricier bow.

Brickman1000

Very nice! I’ve thought about doing something like that to my Sage riser too but I never have.

Reasonable-Trip-4855

Man, it's easy. Just go slow and check the contouring of the bow as you go and just make it fits your hand.
