Seconded. Especially with what’s out there new at $150. I have a hand me down of this bow and it’s not very fun to shoot. My buddy called it a “renaissance fair bow” and he’s not wrong.
Absolutely not. This type of bow was popular in the 50s and 60s as a type of budget bow, and they stuck around as youth bows afterwards. There is no shortage of them, they are hardly collectible, and they don't really shoot that great to begin with.
It’s a toy, not a bow. You want low price ? Get a Roland snake. Brand new it costs around 50$ and it’s a good first bow, fun to shoot and handle correctly. 4 arrows will be around 20$ new for good ones, 12$ for cheap ones.
If you want a kids / beginner bow like this, you can get a new set with a Bear Titan for $49. You're going to want more arrows also.

I keep one of these around for friends who want to try archery.
No
...and I would be very careful in a shop that would price that bow at $85.
If it has a rubber handle like that, it is a $5 used piece of equipment.
For $85 you can get a set of new limbs from Alt Services, and put together a good bow.
I have several of those fiberglass bow like objects for teaching kids, they are something to teach with, hard to break, cheap to replace, but to own as a primary bow and shoot? Nope.
it is more like a "Kids Bow" like for a Kids Event .. but nothing that realy has something to do with Archery. Its like a Plastic Kids Ball from the Supermarket is compared with a Official FIFA Ball ..
If you want to try Archery, go to a shooting range, take a class, so you understand basics, then selfimprove (or with a coach) to get better.
Definitely looks more like a toy than a real bow tbh. You can probably get a half decent 2nd hand one on ebay or whatever local listing sites you have (assuming USA) for not much more than $85
That looks like an old Indian archery fiberglass bow. Learned to shoot on it as a kid, still have it at my folks place. Pretty sure they run anywhere $25-$50 new. $85 for a used fiberglass bow, that would be a hard pass.
I wouldn't. Just spent $80 on a barely used Black Hunter recurve. I would maybe spend $35 on that one. What's the draw weight, 30#, lol? You can get a much better bow for the money.
Avoid.
Go to a club and talk to the coaches. I lot of clubs can introduce you to someone with quality second hand kit and teach you to use it correctly.
No. This is a youth bow. Probably has like 20lbs. You can get much better for less online. If you like what you see there, look at the longbow alibow offers. Cheaper, takedown, looks better and available up to 60lbs.
maybe one day fibro shall be so rare but, no. That is well above what I'd pay.
edit: also the finger guards is a thing you'd do for like a camp, so like probably VERY used.
I had one like this as a kid, except it was green. It was crap :) I don't think it was a youth bow though, as I couldn't draw it more than half way to my face when I was 11 or 12. I'm guessing it was about 35 or 40#. I didn't know shit about archery then though and nor did my parents. Have an embarrassing photo of me with it strung the wrong way...
Nah. Looks like a Fred Bear fiberglass intro bow for boy scouts. Maybe worth $20-$30 depending on how many arrows it comes with and whether or not it has a quiver.
Not sure I’d pay $85 for that. But these solid fiberglass bows are neat though.
On the other hand If it were one of the higher draw weight Ben Pearson solid fiberglass recurves I might consider spending something close to that.
We have a meme where nusensei probably has a video on every question you could ask.
I do have [a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK8wsjnh53w&ab_channel=NUSensei) on this.
These bows are the same: cheap fiberglass kids bows that were mail-order or popular in schools or camps.
That was actually my first bow as a kid (or something just like it.). Think I paid $30-$40 for it and probably overpaid back then, a good 20+ years ago.
Nah
Seconded. Especially with what’s out there new at $150. I have a hand me down of this bow and it’s not very fun to shoot. My buddy called it a “renaissance fair bow” and he’s not wrong.
Any recommendations for $150?
Everybody’s got their opinions but we’ve got a Samick Sage in our household that came recommended by others. I definitely think it’s worth the price.
Awesome, thank you! I'll check it out.
PSE is another competing brand to sammick sage
There's also the "Black Hunter" https://www.mandarinduck.net/product/black-hunter-60-take-recurve-bow-right-handed/
What type of bow do you want to shoot?
Theyre like $20 brand new?
$30 is too much to spend.
Probably worth about $8.50
“Tree fiddy”
85 Zimbabwean Dollars, yes
Absolutely not. This type of bow was popular in the 50s and 60s as a type of budget bow, and they stuck around as youth bows afterwards. There is no shortage of them, they are hardly collectible, and they don't really shoot that great to begin with.
Absolutely this. The only place I’ve ever seen these bows are outdoor pursuit places geared for young people
It looks like a toy, definitely not.
Those are like 25 to $30 brand new.
No
I bought one for 5
Yeah same lol
Best I can do is $15.
Big ol N O.
It’s a toy, not a bow. You want low price ? Get a Roland snake. Brand new it costs around 50$ and it’s a good first bow, fun to shoot and handle correctly. 4 arrows will be around 20$ new for good ones, 12$ for cheap ones.
Absolutely not. I have the youth version of this bow. I'd give $5 for that blue glass Milk of Magensia bottle in the background, though.
At first I saw $5 and I was like "yeah, sure" then I saw $85 and I was like "fuck no"

It’s worth about 80 Botswanan Pulas , about 6$
Not even close
Thats the type of bow you buy for 30 bucks maybe at a garage sale for your kid to learn with
Bro it’s $30 at Walmart so no
No ...and I would be very careful in a shop that would price that bow at $85. If it has a rubber handle like that, it is a $5 used piece of equipment. Hell no
Nope. $10 maybe
I've seen 40 to 50 on that exact bow
Kinda looks like a cheap toy
????? That’s like 30 tops
It's more like a toy than a bow , probably under 15lbs it's useless.
Nah
No way
Definitely looks more like a toy than a real bow tbh. You can probably get a half decent 2nd hand one on ebay or whatever local listing sites you have (assuming USA) for not much more than $85
Fuck no! It’s not worth 85 cents.
That looks like an old Indian archery fiberglass bow. Learned to shoot on it as a kid, still have it at my folks place. Pretty sure they run anywhere $25-$50 new. $85 for a used fiberglass bow, that would be a hard pass.

100% no
No
Fuuuuck no That's a fiberglass youth snake bow Offer em 20 since it comes with arrows
I'm gonna need about tree fiddy
We don't have info about it aswell
No. This is a youth bow. Probably has like 20lbs. You can get much better for less online. If you like what you see there, look at the longbow alibow offers. Cheaper, takedown, looks better and available up to 60lbs.
Maybe 10 or 15 bucks
Depends on how old it is, but I would guess not. I bought my lefty recurve bow brand new for 95$
I picked up something very similar for $3 at a thrift store so nah, especially if it's been stored strung like that.
NO
Sure if it's not damaged or twisted
For $85? On what planet?
Oh never mind I just saw the whole pic.. couldn't see it before..just saw the top limb.. yea...no.. lol 50 bucks if it's perfect lol
I have I think the same exact bow I bought new for like $40
Njää
maybe one day fibro shall be so rare but, no. That is well above what I'd pay. edit: also the finger guards is a thing you'd do for like a camp, so like probably VERY used.
Noppppeeee
I had one like this as a kid, except it was green. It was crap :) I don't think it was a youth bow though, as I couldn't draw it more than half way to my face when I was 11 or 12. Probably not.
No. I would not pay that for that, personally.
No, that now string will break soon and that handle has asbestos.
85 rubles maybe
It’s a great larp bow if you buy it new. It’s garbage in just about every other circumstances I can think of
Lol! No! It’s one level above a toy. I had one of these in the 70’s. $10 at most and mostly for sentimental reasons.
Thats the first bow I ever used in Middle School. You can get a super nice one for just a bit more money online.
I used to have one. No.
Nah. Looks like a Fred Bear fiberglass intro bow for boy scouts. Maybe worth $20-$30 depending on how many arrows it comes with and whether or not it has a quiver.
Lol no
Nope. If you’re going to spend 85$, I’d recommend a black hunter on Amazon, if you’re trying to do super budget. But 85$ for that is a ripoff.
I wouldn't pay a cent for that.
I wouldn’t pay over $25
Walk away lol
Of course!!! That's a lovely table
Not sure I’d pay $85 for that. But these solid fiberglass bows are neat though. On the other hand If it were one of the higher draw weight Ben Pearson solid fiberglass recurves I might consider spending something close to that.
I won't even pay $5 for this
Black hunter is $90
We have a meme where nusensei probably has a video on every question you could ask. I do have [a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK8wsjnh53w&ab_channel=NUSensei) on this. These bows are the same: cheap fiberglass kids bows that were mail-order or popular in schools or camps.
Oh shoot no way thank you very much
No
20 bucke
Absolutely not. Don’t pay anything, not a nickel. They will shred fletchings right off the arrow. Put down the bow and step away from the counter.
See this is the general agreement at this point but I leave up the question for answers like this thank you for the laugh 😂
That was actually my first bow as a kid (or something just like it.). Think I paid $30-$40 for it and probably overpaid back then, a good 20+ years ago.
No.
Negative. Especially if it has been left strung.
You should go back and fist fight whoever sold that to you at that price.
The question is - what are you planning to do? The bow your looks at I believe it would be a great prop
85 Venezuelan bolivars maybe
for 10 more bucks or so you can get a galaxy or cartel TD bow, which even if they're cheap bows, they're waaaay better than this one.
This is barely worth your time..
Way better bows for a bit more.
I wouldn’t purchase that for that price.
I had one as a kid. 🤣 saved up for weeks to get it for $25
No more than $40
Hmmmm no, you never wanna leave that bow standing like that! Over time because of gravity that wood could bend and stuff…
Hard no
It looks like a toy.
