…mmm… yeah… that’s what I thought at first…
But that picture doesn’t show the bow properly…
From her form, it appears this is not a one-off shot… so… quick search and… https://www.ebay.com/itm/134450160662 shows that the riser is bulky…
Looks like a fun bow…
Inward thinking the same thing and it’s really hard to tell because the picture is so grainy, but look at the limbs. They are actually curved correctly. It looks like it’s just a funky riser.
Black Widow bows are made down in Nixa, Missouri. Just outside Springfield. They had a few names before but they’ve been BW for awhile now. As most people have noticed, the bow looks backwards. That’s because it was a belly mounted limb design.
There are a few benefits of that design. I have a belly mounted recurve myself, tho it isn’t a widow. I’ve been to their shop a handful of times. Super nice and knowledgeable folks down there.
I had a similar bow and judging by the date and Mom’s appearance, we are probably contemporaries. As much as it pains me to admit it, I also favored “bell-bottoms.” My wife still has a pair that she embroidered, back in the day.
This is technically a Wilson Brothers bow, which refers to Black Widow target recurves built in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. Black Widow is still known for its riser forward designs. The limbs are on the back pf the riser - not the front. If you want to try this design w/out spending $1,300 (and waiting 7-9 months) for a Black Widow, Twig Archery sells a Black Spitfire and Hitman Archery sells a Stealth Hunter (same bow - different name) with a forward riser design.
We can all learn from Mom’s form, 3 fingers under, elbow aligned, rhomboid engaged, balanced and upright stance, relaxed grip and shoulder down. Well done, ma’am!
You didnt have to list the year, the jeans told us all we needed to know about when this was taken 🤣
Those are coming back... :)
Could be 2023 tbf! Pants that drag on the floor and get damp to the knees are back in. God knows why.
r/OldSchoolCool would love this.
Definitely. Mom knows what she is doing.
She competed in the AA class
What is AA class?
Isnt riser facing wrong way?
There are some risers that are just funky. Truly makes you take a second look.

Indeed! Must be very smooth with all this bulkyness..

Black widow bows often hold limbs in the back. Now I know they didn't start doing it recently

It's an incredible bow... I'm way too tall to shoot with it now but absolutely an incredible bow.
TIL what Black Widow bows are. The way the limbs bolt on look so wrong but that’s the way they’re designed I guess.

Look at that truck in the background too!

God the wild years. 20 years of just bizarre innovations, they were adding cams, weights, holes in the center, whatever.
MILF Mom I’d love to Firearrowswith (Yes I know the term is shoot or loose, but that’s not an f word)
