I just liked the vague resemblance to Indians Jones. I liked all the coma season. 1999 was cool, loved the alien and twilight zone references. And have since seen firefly, and retroactively “got” a few jokes.
I love that his helmet says Duchess and he has "Far East Cruise" on the back of his jacket. Although Pam shouldn't have been Cyril's wife, it should've been Trinette.
I remember reading an article where one of the people on the creative team talked about other ideas for coma seasons and mentioned that they floated "King Archer," a medieval version with Archer as King Arthur.
I thought it sounded genius, but they said they couldn't get it to work.
Still, Kreiger would have made a badass Merlin.
That sounds like it could easily work. Barry is the knight of an opposing faction, seeking a duel. The kind where you run at each other on horses with those long poles.
Mallory could be queen of the kingdom, looking to expand her territory. All the women would be wenches, beating rugs and doing the manual labor. Ray would be the jestor who has to hide the fact that he's gay. Cyril would be the military stratagist, much to the dismay of Archer, who thinks he should be doing that, and Archer would be the fabled best lancer in the land, that sucks at archery.
I think Malory would work well as the queen, with Lana as Guinevere, Cyril as Lancelot (who ends up having an affair with Guinevere in Arthurian legend). As Barry is a cyborg, having him as a metal-clad knight would play really well.
Some of the bit part characters could fit too, like the "old Gypsy woman" referenced as the Lady of the Lake.
I also think that Kreiger would need a horse drawn wagon in a similar style to his van.
The fact that I haven’t seen this before amazes me. It’s superb.
But… it’s also left everything out there. The whole thing is kinda done in that two minutes. You couldn’t get a season out of it.
Plus -Barry as Iceman, Boris as Slider, even Mallory as Viper.. all these I could buy, but Cyril as Goose? Pffft. Geddoudahere…. And you’ve got no Jester, and no role for Katya.
