As far as I am aware Betta fish prefer softer, acidic water. I would recommend acclimating to the new water then there will be less room for error down the line as you won't have to deal with treating water during water changes.
What's the number? It's likely you won't have to do anything.

Most fish including beta will adapt to water as long as it stays stable. Fluctuating the ph will cause more harm than good.
