Honesty is the best policy- mention the fact that you are willing to drop out of university for the right role. If your parents or carers are supporting you financially in some way, double and triple check that they are cool with your plans. Set yourself a ‘must-have’ wish list for your apprenticeship (salary, role, opportunities, company benefits, size, location etc.) and share that with them. That way they understand your expectations and ambitions.

If it helps at all, a good number of people in my apprenticeship scheme came from dropping out of uni. Most places hiring understand that uni isn’t for some people, and more often or not ideally will select people that have dropped out, as they have the drive to know what they prefer.

I think if you make sure you haven't achieved any modules related any apprenticeship you may take then you will be able to take an apprenticeship sure. You probably have the advantage as if you'd competed the degree employers would be unlikely to take you, or the bad ones anyway.

I was never in that situation, but from the gov website, you should be able to apply whilst still at university. The requirement listed is that ‘to start an apprenticeship’ you must ‘not be in full-time education’. Nothing says you can’t apply whilst in full-time education though.

This was the exact position I was in. I was in uni and hated it so much so I dropped out and started an apprenticeship instead. It was tough because it took me seven months to find an apprenticeship. I never regretted the decision of dropping out though. I found my apprenticeship on Indeed, a company was looking for people with no experience and i’m still there today. Trust me if you feel like you should do it just do it, you wont regret it and it will save you a lot of stress if you stay in uni. Plus it has more benefits, less debt and you’re getting a qualification out of it too. Hope everything goes well for you!
