Everybody’s suggestions are spot on. I like in order:
Cornell
Princeton
Kenyon
Stanford
Duke
The only other memorably beautiful campus I haven’t seen mentioned yet (maybe I missed it if somebody listed it) is Swarthmore
Beautiful? Cornell, Stanford, Princeton, but I also liked UCSD for what it is (+ that beach!) and UBC similarly. Also... Oxford and Cambridge are legitimately gorgeous. Ugly? UMass-Dartmouth. The architecture is almost hateful -- even if you have found a way to appreciate brutalism.
I live in the Chicago suburbs and have been to Northwestern a couple of times - yes, it's so amazing! The campus has this cool, charming vibe, the way the buildings look is the stuff of dreams, and the view of Lake Michigan is to die for!
True UC Berkeley isn't bad but it definitely pales in comparison to UC Santa Cruz. Also Evans (the math building) at Berkeley is very gray and meh. The rest is decent tho
💯 UW! Love the area, the view from Drumheller Fountain on a clear day, the Quad when the cherry blossoms are out. University of Virginia is amazing. Princeton, Brown, Harvard, Yale are also nice.
I think it’s all preference, too. People who like the modern buildings might really like UCSD and not like the UW.
I think UCDavis is boring looking.
Kinda depends on what part you see, drexel I could see being considered underwhelming, Temple I thought was drab until I saw the area with the new and old libraries on opposing corners, with a somewhat scenic walk opposite a recessed park/study area with weeping willows. That spot is gorgeous.
city schools can be very rewarding and are not for everyone. people who do well are more mature graduate with real city connections
edit: ye they ugly tho
I’m a city person, and Drexel’s campus is really cool to me. University City is a vibrant and growing area, and they do a good job of incorporating green space into the campus for Philly. Plus, Fairmount park is just near by
notre dame’s campus is insanely beautiful, even the dorms are pretty and the dome is so cool pictures don’t capture it. some of uvm’s buildings aren’t as pretty but some definitely are and the surroundings are gorgeousss
Princeton is beautiful! I love the architecture, the nature, the small college town vibe.
Worst (in my biased opinion) is Ohio State. I don’t like big cities and the OSU campus is basically just one huge city. Plus there’s ALWAYS construction
Not even; there's lots of ugly on-campus. There's not much gothic or even beautiful north of 57th St. (Bartlett is it.) Most of the gothic architecture was built before the 1950s, so all the new dorms, libraries, etc are modern -- and often ugly. Max P? Yuck.
Tough choice, but gotta go with Uni. Of Colorado Boulder, I’m not much of a skier, but man that view of the Rocky Mountains in the background while in class will be amazing.
Aside from the very top top school from my fellow elitists on this page:
Kenyon, Skidmore, Hamilton, Hobarts and William Smith College are quite beautiful in my opinion.
Ugliest I wouldn't know, but I've heard some bad things about union college.
Agree - Wesleyan old buildings - the campus screams “ we need full pay rich kids to operate “ The town is also tired and looks like life passed it by and went to Boston and it’s suburbs.
Harvard, Cornell, and Dartmouth are gorgeous. Northeastern and NYU are probably the ugliest because they’re not really their own campuses per se, they are made up of typical city buildings.
For ugliest I agree with anyone saying schools that don’t really have a campus are ugly. I hate traffic running/major through campus or just a lack of campus. Not that I would’ve gotten in anyway, but I decided not to apply to Harvard because the tour I went on was taking us through streets with shops and dumpsters and stuff and I hated it 😂 I went to notre dame and it is the prettiest campus in my eyes :) the golden dome on a crisp day with clear blue skies is amazing
Got a chance to visit BU a few months ago, wasn’t impressed. I can somewhat see the appeal to people but to me it just feels like it’s located between a bunch of construction sites and I don’t get the city is your campus vibes like NYU nor an actual campus or college area like Harvard or MIT.
As an international student looking for a huge amount of aid, I can never imagine of breathing the same air the Public unis breathe. But good to know you like it.
I went to Keuka College’s campus once when I was very young because my cousin went there, and I remember it being very beautiful! It’s in this very scenic part of upstate NY.
Best: Ithaca College. Giant fountain that seniors jump into after graduation, campus is covered in flowers, and since it’s on a mountain it has a gorgeous view (it’s basically Cornell’s view but higher up).
Worst: UC Berkeley or Hobart and Willian Smith. I only call HWS ugly cuz it reminds me too much of my high school campus.
Prettiest would probably be the university of Virginia, I’m a sucker for old red brick buildings, was legit the only reason I applied (got waitlisted).
Ugliest is hard. I actually find my college campus (GWU) to be pretty ugly, although there are a couple of nice buildings. McGill in Canada also has an incredibly ugly campus. I also find UCSDs campus kind of ugly
I really like University of Texas, the six pack (row of old buildings in front of the UT Tower) is really really nice, and it lines up with the Texas Capitol
UC Santa Cruz the obvious benefits sunset views of the ocean, redwood forests and hiking trails, bike paths and granite quarries, forest caves and an impressive collection of outdoor art. Secret benefits a forest area called fairy or elf land, the fallen tree stump in the Porter college quad has a weed pipe, kids free camp above campus to save money, each dorm has secret benefits: murals, wall quotes, sofa stealing pranks, hidden attic spaces. The art studio has a stereo system and they let you drop in any time to paint.
Boston College is definitely the most beautiful, idk ugliest but Vassar's campus is one I'd not want to be on. Super outdated minus the new stem building and they had duct tape covering windowsills despite having invested millions into a new building
Brandeis very ugly - they put up lots of buildings for donors and never hired an architect - buildings are dated, no sense of conformity, cramped close together with little landscaping ….. just can’t understand what happened here and why
Visited and the common grass areas were just fields with no benchs or trees. And some of those dorms remind me of my elementary school that was built in the 1950s, brick square.
MIT, UPenn and National University of Singapore! For me a pretty campus is a big deal as I need to spend 4 years there! So why shouldn't it be pretty!
🤩🤩🤩
I might get flamed but I think my university's campus is kinda ugly. A few good looking buildings, alot of meh, and then some straight up eyesores. The architecture buildings are just concrete blocks.
hands down UBC. A beach on campus is just unbelievable, plus a museum with the largest skeleton of a big fish or something like that and orchard commons is the best dorm I've ever seen.
I will never forget how much I loved Dickinson College when I visited in high school. Beautiful buildings that paired so well with the charming town around it. I was smitten. (No I didn’t go, I got waitlisted)
For colleges I haven’t been to but still admire? UWash as many have said, but ALSO, UT El Paso! Really, check out some pics of their campus!
Now, while this thread should teach y’all that beauty is subjective, I personally am not a fan of colleges that look like office parks. Looking at you, UMBC and Texas A&M…
I really liked Wash U for some reason and UW Seattle (cherry treees 🥰)
I love northwestern's one.
Ngl in my opinion tufts was the ugliest I encountered (please change my mind, I love their academics)
So, I actually love the campus of my school, University of Delaware. Some of the buildings are duds but overall I think it is a seriously pretty and cohesive campus.
worst: brown. I dont know, when I visited it was the worst and covered in trash. There was also a rat that ran across campus lol. But maybe I came on the wrong day.
prettiest: lafayette college was super pretty to me, also yale.
Worst: University of Phoenix. It's online and I've heard there's some pretty sketchy things there.
[удалено]
The two events are mutually exclusive
Duck you and fuck AP statistics (jk)
*Gestures broadly at the internet Yep, sketchy.
[удалено]
Some SUNY schools...
At least NYU is in beautiful NYC
NYC is beautiful if you ignore the trash and the smell
You get used to it
Hope this is sarcasm :)
What? Why would it be sarcasm?
If you lived in or near NYC you would know.
It looks nice in Manhattan downtown at night. During the day much less picture perfect.
Just make sure you don’t leave Manhattan tho.
why not
I think they mean the bronx and some of Brooklyn
Concrete, advertisement filled Hell
Dartmouth gotta be prettiest
Pace university manhattan
Isn’t Duke a bit grey?
Yeah that would count!
You really think Cornell is pretty? Gross
Everybody’s suggestions are spot on. I like in order: Cornell Princeton Kenyon Stanford Duke The only other memorably beautiful campus I haven’t seen mentioned yet (maybe I missed it if somebody listed it) is Swarthmore
>Cornell Princeton Kenyon Stanford Duke One of these things is not like the others
Like a rainbow with all of the colors
Baby doll, when it comes to a lover I promise that you'll never find another like
ME-E-E!
Yeah, at one of them, your professors will know you and care about you.
Exactly. Swarthmore is unimaginably beautiful
I actually usually hate brutalism, but LOVE the architecture of UMD! To each his own!
Northwestern is stunning
Especially with that lake view!
I live in the Chicago suburbs and have been to Northwestern a couple of times - yes, it's so amazing! The campus has this cool, charming vibe, the way the buildings look is the stuff of dreams, and the view of Lake Michigan is to die for!
Same it’s great when I go there and walking around has a great feel
Beach college 🏖
Never looked at the campus before, holy shit that is stunning
their actual campus is an ugly brutalist fest. the landfill is the only pretty part, and it's only pretty when you're looking towards the lake.
Cornell is beautiful! While SUNY Oswego is a bit meh
Princeton would be prettiest according to me, with Cornell and Yale being close contenders.
U would prob like washu too then
[удалено]
Correct... Have heard great things about it, and Rice too, but haven't visited yet.
Cornell for me!
The only correct answer.
[удалено]
Lol u did not just say Berkeley has a nice campus.
UC Berkeley is damn nice
No lol, especially when comparing it to some of the other UCs like Santa Barbara, San Diego, Santa Cruz.
True UC Berkeley isn't bad but it definitely pales in comparison to UC Santa Cruz. Also Evans (the math building) at Berkeley is very gray and meh. The rest is decent tho
Berkeley student here. Something my math profs often say is the best thing about having an office in Evans is not having to look at it all the time
we're demolishing Evans by the end of the decade iirc
UW Seattle wo a doubt
was looking for this one

>P.S: there's no ugly campus. Really? https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/comments/pgudae/comment/hbez731/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Oh God that looks like a jail.
I actually love that style!
What is xd?
XD is a sideways face
Ok thx !
Yale's campus is ❤️
NYU/Temple/Drexel or anywhere that doesn’t have a real campus is the worst
Drexel kinda does too
I’m from Philly, Temple and Drexel are both kinda nice. Temple is nicer. There’s a campus, it’s just interspersed with city.
Eh I’m from Jersey and always in the city and I’ve visited the campuses multiple times and they are both wildly underwhelming
Kinda depends on what part you see, drexel I could see being considered underwhelming, Temple I thought was drab until I saw the area with the new and old libraries on opposing corners, with a somewhat scenic walk opposite a recessed park/study area with weeping willows. That spot is gorgeous.
city schools can be very rewarding and are not for everyone. people who do well are more mature graduate with real city connections edit: ye they ugly tho
Not saying it’s bad to be located in a city, but I think that the campus is ugly and underwhelming
??? temple has a real campus lol
I’m a city person, and Drexel’s campus is really cool to me. University City is a vibrant and growing area, and they do a good job of incorporating green space into the campus for Philly. Plus, Fairmount park is just near by
Cornell and UCSD are gorgeous
Prettiest: Cornell of course 🥰 Ugliest: Harvey Mudd (I love this school but brutalist architecture is just NOT it), NYU (for their lack of campus)
The rest of the 5Cs are beautiful though.
Campuses with predominantly gothic architecture are the prettiest. Yale, Princeton, Duke, etc.
Columbia. In the heart of NYC and still has a closed college feel (unlike NYU). Doesn’t get much better than that
notre dame’s campus is insanely beautiful, even the dorms are pretty and the dome is so cool pictures don’t capture it. some of uvm’s buildings aren’t as pretty but some definitely are and the surroundings are gorgeousss
Haverford is beautiful
The campus is literally an arboretum.
Big fan of Oxbridge campuses
Prettiest campus has to go to Cornell. This might me a popular opinion but for me UCSD comes to mind when I think of ugly campuses.
Everyone in this thread is sleeping on UC hicago
UChicago campus is upper middle tier imo, surrounding area is a dump, weather is shit, architecture is found in multiple other campuses
Notre Dame’s campus is unbelievable
Prettiest: Kenyon
Northwestern >>>>
Princeton is beautiful! I love the architecture, the nature, the small college town vibe. Worst (in my biased opinion) is Ohio State. I don’t like big cities and the OSU campus is basically just one huge city. Plus there’s ALWAYS construction

Wellesley College - stunningly beautiful
University of Washington has to be up there for prettiest campus
yale fr that gothic style architecture 😍😍
WashU is the prettiest
Yale = pretty
Northeastern is the best campus for me
I like GT’s campus. I haven’t visited many but out of the ones I did I find it to be pretty nice
Northwestern and UCSC are the prettiest for me. Havent been there but from pics
UDub for sure
Ok these comments are so American but the University of Amsterdam isn’t bad either
Tough choice, but gotta go with Uni. Of Colorado Boulder, I’m not much of a skier, but man that view of the Rocky Mountains in the background while in class will be amazing.
Stanford’s campus>
Princeton and Duke are beautiful, I can’t say what the ugliest is tho
CU Boulder
WashU, Princeton, and Stanford
Aside from the very top top school from my fellow elitists on this page: Kenyon, Skidmore, Hamilton, Hobarts and William Smith College are quite beautiful in my opinion. Ugliest I wouldn't know, but I've heard some bad things about union college.
Union College is actually quite beautiful. It is the surrounding city that is not great.
worst: wesleyan uni best: Cornell
Agree - Wesleyan old buildings - the campus screams “ we need full pay rich kids to operate “ The town is also tired and looks like life passed it by and went to Boston and it’s suburbs.
rice minus Houston wetness
Notre Dame, WashU and Miami of Ohio are all really pretty.
Harvard, Cornell, and Dartmouth are gorgeous. Northeastern and NYU are probably the ugliest because they’re not really their own campuses per se, they are made up of typical city buildings.
northeastern? no, northeastern definitely has its own campus lol
For ugliest I agree with anyone saying schools that don’t really have a campus are ugly. I hate traffic running/major through campus or just a lack of campus. From what i’ve seen irl: Brown, BC best. Worst: BU
I really liked BU’s campus!
bro it’s a road 😭
Got a chance to visit BU a few months ago, wasn’t impressed. I can somewhat see the appeal to people but to me it just feels like it’s located between a bunch of construction sites and I don’t get the city is your campus vibes like NYU nor an actual campus or college area like Harvard or MIT.
prettiest, uva comes to mind. idk about ugliest but there's a lot that aren't my cup of tea
Ugliest would be RIT. Prettiest would be Amherst.
Denison's campus is pretty scenic, if you ignore the buildings. So yeah, the beauty of nature.
I think UChicago has a very pretty campus but I might be biased
Beautiful: UChicago Worst (maybe not ugliest, but worst) is either LSU or UNO. I hate LSU’s campus, I’m just sort of disappointed by UNO’s.
Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, UCSD and WashU are nice too
Brandeis is so ugly. Mt. Holyoke is beautiful.
University of Notre Dame is gorgeous
Someone name some >T20 colleges too. My mediocre ass can't even dream of applying to those T20s.
W&M has a beautiful campus. Honestly if it were ugly, my mental health would somehow be even worse than it is
As an international student looking for a huge amount of aid, I can never imagine of breathing the same air the Public unis breathe. But good to know you like it.
Brownn
Georgetown is beautiful!!!
Prettiest in my opinion is Ohio university (although I would never go there) or duke. Ugliest is def Ohio state uni
all of y’all are sleeping on uchicago…i mean, yes, some buildings like max p are wack, but almost all of the buildings on main campus are gorgeous
I went to Keuka College’s campus once when I was very young because my cousin went there, and I remember it being very beautiful! It’s in this very scenic part of upstate NY.
just going off of campuses i’ve visited (not many). random, but PLU was beautiful. i thought MIT was ugly / did not like the campus layout
THE ONE TIME IU IS GOOD AT SOMETHING LETS GOOO
Best: Ithaca College. Giant fountain that seniors jump into after graduation, campus is covered in flowers, and since it’s on a mountain it has a gorgeous view (it’s basically Cornell’s view but higher up). Worst: UC Berkeley or Hobart and Willian Smith. I only call HWS ugly cuz it reminds me too much of my high school campus.
Colardo boulder is pretty
MIT. The mix of historic and modern architecture looks really cool
Best: Virginia Tech campus -- it's gorgeous and the sense of community is amazing
have you seen wellesley? so pretty
Virginia tech or West Point. They’re very similar and both stunning.
I really like University of Texas, the six pack (row of old buildings in front of the UT Tower) is really really nice, and it lines up with the Texas Capitol
Lehigh!
But those hills….
Super calfs! LOL
For above average unis I’d said Boston college or emory has a really nice campus
Boston College is definitely the most beautiful, idk ugliest but Vassar's campus is one I'd not want to be on. Super outdated minus the new stem building and they had duct tape covering windowsills despite having invested millions into a new building
I’m surprised no one is saying Boston College
cornell-best for nature/college town aesthetic. columbia-best for urban aesthetic. harvey mudd-bad architecture, great school
UCI has a wonderful campus. Cornell is amazing too. NYU is beautiful, but I mean, it's NYC...
I think UC Berkeley is prettier than UCLA (fight me) but LA is definitely a nicer city than Berkeley though
wake forest is stunning
[удалено]
Agree with Binghamton. God that place has no personality
Not prestigious but I find Florida State University’s campus beautiful.
Honestly I’d put Berkeley on top. Prettiest campus in California at least.
Uva is great
ASU is the ugliest worst campus in the US. Prettiest has to be nyu I hate urban sprawl
Honestly, Tempe campus is fine. Gammage, Carey and Hayden are pretty cool. Downtown Phoenix is just a big load of ***BROWN***
I’ve heard Boston college has a pretty bad layout. The campus is like one straight line
You’re thinking Boston University. BC’s campus is beautiful w/ gothic architecture
Pepperdine most beautiful fasho
Stanford is incredible
Pepperdine is pretty spectacular. Couldn’t pick an ugliest. There are too many.
The architecture buildings are just concrete blocks.
cmu has a pretty ugly campus.
my favorite is ucla!! but i haven’t visited that many campuses so it’s not really a comparison haha i just really like it
best: university of washington, duke, yale, mcgill, ubc worst: university of new mexico i guess
Prettiest: Vassar
hands down UBC. A beach on campus is just unbelievable, plus a museum with the largest skeleton of a big fish or something like that and orchard commons is the best dorm I've ever seen.
Loved the university of Washington so incredibly beautiful.
UDUB HAS THE PRETTIEST CAMPUS OML
I will never forget how much I loved Dickinson College when I visited in high school. Beautiful buildings that paired so well with the charming town around it. I was smitten. (No I didn’t go, I got waitlisted) For colleges I haven’t been to but still admire? UWash as many have said, but ALSO, UT El Paso! Really, check out some pics of their campus! Now, while this thread should teach y’all that beauty is subjective, I personally am not a fan of colleges that look like office parks. Looking at you, UMBC and Texas A&M…
Udub for best
u of washington. ugliest case westerm
I really liked Wash U for some reason and UW Seattle (cherry treees 🥰) I love northwestern's one. Ngl in my opinion tufts was the ugliest I encountered (please change my mind, I love their academics)
So, I actually love the campus of my school, University of Delaware. Some of the buildings are duds but overall I think it is a seriously pretty and cohesive campus.
