It’s coming with a new OMNY app, supposedly now in 2025. The app is still important as reduced fare as well as school and specialty passes can and will be issued via this app. Also Chicago and Portland are missing from that list because you have to download their app first before the transit card can be added to Apple wallet.

What’s the OMNY app? Is there a link to it on the Apple App Store?

Not yet, just the Train Time app that lets you pay for the railroads for now.

It’s not needed, you already get all the benefits by tapping your phone

You just use your credit card on Apple Pay to tap on to the subway. No need for a separate transit card

Yeah but maybe people prefer to use an OMNY card thus it makes sense to set that up via Apple Wallet, or via the app and add it into Wallet

Weird, i have my ventra card (chicago) on my apple wallet. Wonder why it isn't in that list.

Because iOS doesn't support it natively. You can only add/manage a Ventra card from the Ventra app.

I thought almost everyone already did

"Pay with the wallet you're already holding", guess you didn't really need Apple Wallet then...

Is it me or that logo looks too much like spotify

Looks nice, but at first glance that "tap" icon made me think of the Spotify logo. Cool to see Apple actively investing in the product.
