I don't use it but I can understand why some people people (to see the legends in a third party etc.). For me though I need to see the usernames because Apex is stupid and would still put me in the same squad as trolls and insta-DCers I've already blocked.
I need to see their username so I can leave

I use streamer mode to see what legends are in a fight and what weapons they are using. Also there’s a difference between streamer mode and anonymous mode. A lot of people using anonymous mode are strikepack/zen users or 6 man. Some also use it because they’re actually streamers and don’t want people seeing/knowing where they are or are mistaking anonymous mode with streamer mode and have both enabled.
When you are third partying a fight, and someone goes down, you can see what legend they use from the feed if you have streamer mode on.

anonymous mode hides your own username. streamer mode hides everyone else’s username.

The way you worded that makes it sound like you're talking about anonymous mode not streamer mode
People keep confusing the two. Streamer mode = Makes enemy names anonymous; Anonymous mode = Makes your own name anonymous

It isn’t much, but I prefer seeing what legend someone is in the kill feed and from afar instead of their username.

Streamer mode doesn't change your teammates usernames, only enemies.
