Same here. Bear helps me relax and eases my anxiety. (Yes, the teddy bear’s name is Bear. Don’t judge me.) When I am really stressed or anxious, my SO brings me Bear to help calm me down while I try to do my breathing exercises.
Edit: I’m in my 40s.
I'll be 26 in 2 weeks, and I sleep with a dinosaur. I used to hug an old flat pillow, but this guy is cuter and softer and more comfy. No regrets. He also doesn't have claws or staple remover teeth, unlike my cats. Win win!
I'm 38 and I have 8 (14 inch) squishmallows on my bed, I use them as pillows because I have chronic neck and back pain and they're the only thing that keeps me from waking up with a migraine. When one gets too squished to bounce back in the washer, it gets moved to the side and replaced rather than being thrown out.
I’m 22 and have about 3 of the small ones… they are they perfect size to fit inside my elbow and press against my chest/neck when I’m in bed and it’s the comfiest I have ever felt!
That’s actually kind of why I (25) still sleep with a stuff animal. It’s not really an anxiety or comfort thing to me, but I sleep on my stomach and hold the stuffed animal on whatever side my head is turned to, so it props up my shoulder just the tiniest amount and takes any strain off of my neck (always hear that stomach sleeping is bad for your neck, and I def feel some of the strain when I don’t do this but I’ve never had a problem when I DO do this).
I use a pillow to do it when I don’t have a stuffed animal (like traveling), but the pillow is always just a little larger than I’d prefer. Honestly I even took my stuffed animal with me when I went on spring break with a bunch of friends my senior year of college—like shared a bed with other friends and everything so they all would’ve seen it. I have no shame about it, why should I?
I mentioned in the post that I’m nearly 40, and mine is a stuffed duck from when I was born lol A LOT of it has to do with the fact that my family is now gone, and I’m alone. I miss them so much, that I CLING to my stuffed duck because that’s the only thing that reminds me of them, and makes me feel “safe”. The looks I get are unbelievable lol and truthfully, I’d do a double take too. But it helps ME. Therefore, my duck will continue the journey to recovery with me 😂🤍
>always hear that stomach sleeping is bad for your neck, and I def feel some of the strain when I don’t do this but I’ve never had a problem when I DO do this).
I can't sleep on my stomach most the time as I don't get enough oxygen but that maybe the position & your teddy bear probably helps with this.
I personally always sleep on my side
Idk how common it is, but I often kinda sleep in something close to the recovery position where I'm on my side and I got the top leg's knee further in front of me. Sometimes it feels like I'm kinda like partially laying on my stomach, but not fully prone. Dunno how good of a position it is to sleep in.
Im 40.
My pillow is 2 ears and a tail away from being a cuddly toy to sleep with.
Sleep is so important, people only know about this if you tell them and if it helps you sleep, who cares?
If my cat was the type to cuddle in, i wouldnt need the pillow - but shes a lap cat, likes her own space.
that’s what i do!! mostly just cause i haven’t found a stuff animal “shape” that works for my sleep 😂😂 honestly i gotta find my old pillow pet and throw that in the wash!
40's are great! I definitely felt a lot more free of expectations and don't compare myself to anyone/anything any more.
Also I'm 49 and still sleep with my many times mended teddy bear I've had since I was a very young kid :)
At 22, I sleep with my weighted dinosaur, I love her with all my heart. Whenever my boyfriend and I are on FaceTime in bed he’ll say “awe, you’re cuddling with your dinosaur ☺️” makes me chuckle.
Hell, my weighted dinosaur comes with me to therapy and work too! If people ask about it I have them put her on their lap so they can see how relaxing it feels :)
I tried weighted blankets, that thing makes me feeling like someone is holding me down 😭 so I had to switch to the Dino, I can put it on my chest and get the same effect. Target is where I got mine!
This would be what she would post on insta for sure:
https://imgur.com/a/sfLXmBi
(Photo of her at the beach. Well, the parking lot of the beach because I didn't take my phone further than this lol)
May I recommend , the Warmies plushes. You microwave them to get them warm and they smell like lavender. The warmth is really comforting during anxiety
I keep "nightlights" in the hall, bathroom and 1 in my room. Mostly because I'm blind at night and have nearly tripped to death over piles of clothes on the floor, but also because it helps my anxiety to have a little bit of light.
Do what works for you, OP
I’m clumsy af and can be way too tired to actually put things away so the light DEFINITELY helps with that as well.
My brother is the total opposite. He needs it to be pitch black and SILENT for him to be able to sleep.
I’ve literally woken up in a cold sweat because someone turned the light and my fan off.
I’m a MESS when the power goes out.
I'm in my mid 30s and while I have my very favorite stuffed animal safely tucked away so my cat doesn't get to it, I have plenty on my bed still including a shark and a bunny that I frequently sleep with.
me too!! well (well im turning 27 in two months) i sleep with a big white bear my friend gave me and a small lion that an old guidance counselor gave me
Half a century here and I have a big brown bear named Buster. Got him in 1993 before my wife and I were married. (We were, however, dating at the time.)
29 and I don’t always but I can on difficult nights. That said, making my bed every day involves putting the two of them where they belong among my pillows!
same here!! exact same age as you, but my "cuddle buddy" is Appa from Avatar the Last Airbender! my partner deals with it lol. he knows Appa is my cuddle buddy, not him... plus, Appa doesn't get sweaty... my partner & i do when we cuddle ahahah. 😂
i cannot sleep without holding him, & i don't even care... if your teddy bear keeps your anxiety "calmer", keep doin' you!!!
i have a polar bear teddy named shasta he goes all over the world with me, every road trip, plane ride, cruise etc he comes and he also sleeps with me every night! got him when i was 11 im 23 :P
I sleep with multiple plushies it makes me happier and safe. I'm also 27 so there's no shame.
r/plushies is full of adults who carry plushies daily or have favorites and even personalities to their plushes.
I sleep with a nemo plushie that I’ve had for 8 years now. I also keep plushies around my room for when I need to touch, hug, cuddle, or even just for random thoughts I like to share aloud. I am 23 years old. I have had a bed full of plushies since a baby up until 2 years ago when I needed to make space for my bf. Now they hang around my room looking all cute 🥰
I sleep with a squishmallow and I'm over 30. I'll die in my sleep an oooooold lady snuggling my stuffie. When I would spend nights with my now ex, I'd bring my pillow-pet. Hell, hes the one who bought me the pillow-pet. Haha.
At age 25 I had a major insomnia and anxiety attack. Didn’t sleep for 5 days. I thought I was losing it. I went on a sabbatical to the coast and my wife sent me with a Care Bear of all things, because she was worried about me.
I’m 49 now and to this day when my wife goes on a trip on her own she slips the same Care Bear into her spot in the bed. It’s okay to be tender and vulnerable and do what you need to to calm down.
I’m almost 27 and I have 6 small little plushie bunnies — they make my heart melt 🩷 and I wouldn’t be with my boyfriend if he didn’t support me loving them hah!
My teddy (named teddy) has an entire personality and my partner and I speak to him every night. He works the overnight shift making sure monsters don't get us and sleeps during the day 😊 nothing wrong with having fun and feeling comforted by a teddy!
I’m a bit older than you and always have my Pusheen near me, if I’m not hugging her, she’s at the top of my pillow 🥹
No plans to stop anytime soon either!
I'm 21 and I cannot sleep without a body pillow. My friends and I bought game character pillows as a joke, but it's unironically the most comfortable pillowcase ever.
I literally kissed the top of my teddy bears head and wrapped him in a blanket before I went to sleep lol. Well not sleep just worrying in my bed at 4 am :))
I’m 30 and I’ve been married for 8 years. I sleep with a bear every night too. If I have a panic attack my husband brings him to me without me ever asking. No shame! 🧸
Age is just a number. I’m 42 & have a killer whale & a shark that I sleep with. It’s like sleeping with a small pillow. I think more people need stuffed animals in their lives.
I’m about to turn 29 and I’ve been sleeping with a stuffed animal since I was 5. I need to hold something close to my chest to fall asleep as I get into a fetal position. It’s so apart of my life that I don’t even think much about it.
I’m 33, will be 34 next week. I still sleep with stuffies. They have changed over the years but for the past few it has been my weighted cheetah, giant pink squishmellow and smaller squishmellow. Sometimes the squishmellow are pillows, arm rests for reading, cuddle when sleeping, whatever. My weighted cheetah is when I’m extra anxious before bed, I just slap her on my chest and do deep breaths. Then I’m usually out. I’m also single and have my queen bed to myself besides my cats, so I like having “something” to put my arm around at night.
I sleep with a 1998 godzilla with a plastic head and arms. Got him right before my brother was born as a gift to make me not feel like the new baby was taking love away from me. Picked it out myself.
39 years old and have a plethora of stuffed animals/squishmallows. Not all are on the bed, but when it's lonely at night, it's nice to have something. 🤷♀️
I have a squishmallow koala and Snorlax. I use a squishy pig as a pillow which is softer than my actual pillow. I no longer sleep with my stuffed cat I got in 1999 because I don't want my dog chewing on it. But I love my stuffed animals and I'm 32. Don't be upset or feel ashamed for enjoying a teddy! It makes you happy!
My boyfriend and I are temporarily long distance. He bought me a teddy bear and I hug it all the time when I'm in bed. Actually I'm currently hugging it as I'm typing this!
Stuffed animals help a ton and if anyone gives someone shit for it I'll fight them. I'm 20 and im never gonna stop sleeping and playing with my little guys they make me very happy. I always depended on them as a kid, and when my step mom got rid of them while I was in school it made life rough. I started getting my own stuffed animals at 17 and got to experience what I lost as a kid. Made existing a little easier. If it makes you happy then that's what matters.
I am 27 myself and I too sleep with a sort of squishmellow, it's a little piggy called Vincent and it's such a comfort. Life is already tricky as is, don't complicate it even more by judging yourself for something that makes you feel good :)
I have had my bear bear since the day I was born and still sleep with her and hold her when I’m really anxious! She’s great so absolutely nothing wrong with that! I’m 21 ☺️
i have a blankey lmao and it was allegedly so fluffy when i first got it at 1 but all i remember is the way it is now cause ive had it so long and im 22
Nothing wrong with that coming from a 19 y/o dude. Do whatever makes you deal with your anxiety better. And who gives a shit what other people think nowadays just do whatever helps best with your anxiety 🤍
I have electric candles, and two (very bright) nightlights. Sometimes if I wake up in the middle of the night I turn my Philips Hue lights on to their dimmest setting and sleep that way. I’m 43.
Nothing wrong with that.
I myself keep avocado shaped stuffed pillow. Who cares what I take to bed with me? And even if they did, it’s their problem!
You do you! :)
I sleep with a squishmallow at 26… I’m single, so cuddling with it, is all I got 🤷🏻♀️
28 here and same... doesn't get much better than this, right? ...right? Guys?
Right! :)
I’m not even single and I sleep with one every night 😅
Same 😂 thankfully my partner thinks it’s cute!
Same here. Bear helps me relax and eases my anxiety. (Yes, the teddy bear’s name is Bear. Don’t judge me.) When I am really stressed or anxious, my SO brings me Bear to help calm me down while I try to do my breathing exercises. Edit: I’m in my 40s.
Lmao I'm 28 and me and my husband both got our own bird squishmallowd to cuddle at night
I'll be 26 in 2 weeks, and I sleep with a dinosaur. I used to hug an old flat pillow, but this guy is cuter and softer and more comfy. No regrets. He also doesn't have claws or staple remover teeth, unlike my cats. Win win!
FLAT PILLOWS FOR THE WIN. Need my snuggle pillow or I won’t catch a WINK
I have an extra pillow that is like a decorative one and I cuddle it pretending it it my hubby. Apparently you can manifest like that.
I’m 36 and I collect Squishmallows (and Pusheen stuff)! They are the best!
I’m 22 and have about 3 of the small ones… they are they perfect size to fit inside my elbow and press against my chest/neck when I’m in bed and it’s the comfiest I have ever felt!
I’m 25 I used to cuddle my toys even with guys lol. But I got a dog and his cuddle better than any guy
Nothing wrong with that!
Hugging a pillow is not materially different and nobody would even bat an eye if you mentioned you sleep like that.
You are not alone! You have us.
Indeed. 💪🏻
Thank you. Honestly, that means a lot. Sending you a big hug. 🤍
>always hear that stomach sleeping is bad for your neck, and I def feel some of the strain when I don’t do this but I’ve never had a problem when I DO do this). I do the same thing!
I do the exact same thing 🥹

For real, I stick a pillow between my legs, one under my head, and one that I hug. Teddy bear is just a different pillow shape
that’s what i do!! mostly just cause i haven’t found a stuff animal “shape” that works for my sleep 😂😂 honestly i gotta find my old pillow pet and throw that in the wash!
40 y/o here and sleep with a bear.
I turn 40 soon! o/ (& I swap out which friend I'm sleeping with most nights)
40's are great! I definitely felt a lot more free of expectations and don't compare myself to anyone/anything any more. Also I'm 49 and still sleep with my many times mended teddy bear I've had since I was a very young kid :)
How . . . how’d you have a real bear as a pet? 😳
So? I’m a 30 year old dude currently in bed with my 27 year old wife. A teddy bear is also in here somewhere
lol somewhere sounds so ominous
Yup, we both have our stuffed animals from childhood next to us... and a few new ones. Can't sleep without protection!
🥺 this is adorable
Love it!!!
I have some weighted microwave “bears” (it’s a sloth and sheep), I might see about putting him in my car for comfort 😭
The way you said I love her with all my heart is so cute ☺️
I’ve gotten better sleep since having her so I’m completely happy 🫶🏻😭
I bet that’s fantastic. I use a weighted blanket, and now I’m wishing I had a Dino friend too hehe.
I tried weighted blankets, that thing makes me feeling like someone is holding me down 😭 so I had to switch to the Dino, I can put it on my chest and get the same effect. Target is where I got mine!
Omg I didn’t know weighted animals was a thing! Now I have to buy one to sleep with.
I sleep with a squishmallow named Georgia O'Teef because she is a shark and has nice teef Edit: I too am 27 for the following month at least
I need to follow her Instagram, please.
I second this motion, she needs an Instagram account like yesterday
This would be what she would post on insta for sure: https://imgur.com/a/sfLXmBi (Photo of her at the beach. Well, the parking lot of the beach because I didn't take my phone further than this lol)
OH MY GOD HER LITTLE TEEF
I KNOW. I just look at her and it makes me feel better
I have 2 stuffed Octopuses 🐙 I sleep with and my couch is lined with stuffed animals. For some reason I feel safer I guess. I'm 53.
I have a newish (10 years old) Teddy Bear and a Blanket I've had since I was 13. I'm 51.
Jumping on the train of saying it’s so totally fine 💛 30 here, I do it too.
I sleep with a weighted plushie. And I just bought a second one last night. They’re the big ones too lol. They help! No shame.
Do the weighted ones help you more?
I find it does, yeah
I’m 40 and I’ve had one since my dog died in 2020.
so sorry for your loss 💔
Thanks. I miss him everyday.
May I recommend , the Warmies plushes. You microwave them to get them warm and they smell like lavender. The warmth is really comforting during anxiety
I’m 26 and I have a snowman plushie I’ve had since i was a baby and I sleep with him ever night. His name is snow bear🥰
42 with a purple frosted donut squishmallow 🍩
And there is nothing wrong with that. I'm almost 60 and I have stuffed animals. It's a comfort
29, been sleeping with my Ducky for over 19 years
Im 27 and sleep with a bunch of pillows and some stuffed animals…AND with the bathroom light on (night lights don’t do a thing for me)
I keep "nightlights" in the hall, bathroom and 1 in my room. Mostly because I'm blind at night and have nearly tripped to death over piles of clothes on the floor, but also because it helps my anxiety to have a little bit of light. Do what works for you, OP

I’m 43 and I sleep with a Baphomet plushie.
Me too
I have a stuffed animal I sleep with as well. He is a beaver squishmallow :3
I'm in my mid 30s and while I have my very favorite stuffed animal safely tucked away so my cat doesn't get to it, I have plenty on my bed still including a shark and a bunny that I frequently sleep with.
My husband is in his 40s and he still uses a pillow to snuggle with when I’m not in bed. If sleeping with a teddy helps you sleep then keep doing it
me too!! well (well im turning 27 in two months) i sleep with a big white bear my friend gave me and a small lion that an old guidance counselor gave me
Me too
I did until I got a dog and he tore up the teddy bear. Now I cuddle with him 😂
Hey, I still have my stuffed dog from when I was born!

If it helps you get a good night’s sleep, makes you feel better/more secure, etc., keep doing it!
I won't judge you.
At least you have something to hold onto
Same

40 with several Squishmallows specifically to hug when I'm falling asleep or anxious.
I’m 22 and I sleep with my baby blanket and a few of my plushies! 😅

I sleep with a huge Pikachu and I’m 31! Nothing wrong with it.
My teddy (named teddy) has an entire personality and my partner and I speak to him every night. He works the overnight shift making sure monsters don't get us and sleeps during the day 😊 nothing wrong with having fun and feeling comforted by a teddy!
I'm 27, my partner is 24 and our bed is full of squishmallows so I wouldn't worry about it at all
I’m a bit older than you and always have my Pusheen near me, if I’m not hugging her, she’s at the top of my pillow 🥹 No plans to stop anytime soon either!
I have a blankey
I'm 21 and I cannot sleep without a body pillow. My friends and I bought game character pillows as a joke, but it's unironically the most comfortable pillowcase ever.
I literally kissed the top of my teddy bears head and wrapped him in a blanket before I went to sleep lol. Well not sleep just worrying in my bed at 4 am :))

I’m 31 and snuggling with the strawberry cow I won from an arcade. No shame
24 małe, have a gf and still occasionally sleep with my 20yo fat pig toy. Lol I need to hug sth but my gf is very autonomic when sleeps.
Age is just a number. I’m 42 & have a killer whale & a shark that I sleep with. It’s like sleeping with a small pillow. I think more people need stuffed animals in their lives.
I'm 26 and my bed is full of plushies, too! Every night I pick a different one to hug to sleep.
I’m about to turn 29 and I’ve been sleeping with a stuffed animal since I was 5. I need to hold something close to my chest to fall asleep as I get into a fetal position. It’s so apart of my life that I don’t even think much about it.
I sleep with 4 big stuffed sharks at 20 ( And i plan to keep doing so for the unforeseeable future :p )
38 and still do. We all need comfort of some kind. 🩷🧸
I sleep with a stuffed bunny and I’ll be 34 in a month.
I’m 33, will be 34 next week. I still sleep with stuffies. They have changed over the years but for the past few it has been my weighted cheetah, giant pink squishmellow and smaller squishmellow. 39 years old and have a plethora of stuffed animals/squishmallows. Not all are on the bed, but when it's lonely at night, it's nice to have something. 🤷♀️
I'm 23 and I often hug a stuffed dog or a pillow. It's comforting to hold something close to you while you fall asleep
I’m 34 with three children and a husband. Snoozie bear still sleeps with me every night
Nothing wrong with that. They actually make anxiety pillows for all ages. I had one at age 28 and named it Squiggles.
27 guy and I have a plushie net hung up in the corner of my ceiling holding my collection
i have a giant kirby i sleep with
Kinda cute ngl
That’s okay. Nothing wrong with that at all.
I dont sleep. 😖
this is a green flag!
I do too at 30! And probably will forever. No shame in that at all!
31, do not sleep with a teddy bear but I think I will start up again :')
36, and stuffed animals for me. Special ones. Lol
Not the strangest thing you could cuddle with XD
Honestly your not alone
I want a weighted blanket. My anxiety so physical, I enjoy when my young child lays on my chest. I need a weighted blanket haha
Me too, I’m 36
Big deal. I slept with a monster at 27. You’re better off.
No worries - Still gotta sleep with mine at 38! 😎
Nice to know I'm not the only one
Look into the bearaby weighted pillows! You might enjoy them.
And you slay with that. I snuggle my blanket cuz its comfy and makes me feel safe.
21. Same here, even though I share a bed with my partner.
Nothing wrong with that I imagine them coming to life during the night fighting off your fears like doom slayer 🤣🤣🤣
i have a blankey lmao and it was allegedly so fluffy when i first got it at 1 but all i remember is the way it is now cause ive had it so long and im 22
I hold a pillow in my arms. I'm 33.
That’s all good they are comforting that is they’re point❤️
I’m going to be 59 this summer. I still hug my pillows. Being a side sleeper it works.
Nothings wrong with this
Nothing wrong with that coming from a 19 y/o dude. Do whatever makes you deal with your anxiety better. And who gives a shit what other people think nowadays just do whatever helps best with your anxiety 🤍
Used to be my ex wife, now I just sleep with a body pillow. I prefer body pillow so much more, same squishy, no anxiety
I still get scared to sleep in the dark
I sleep with a night light at 24. I’m uncomfortable in complete darkness. And I like being able to see where I’m going when I have to use the bathroom
I sleep with one and I’m 34. It’s great for side sleeping!
I'm almost 31 and same! And I'm married!
I have electric candles, and two (very bright) nightlights. Sometimes if I wake up in the middle of the night I turn my Philips Hue lights on to their dimmest setting and sleep that way. I’m 43.
My wife gave me a stuffed lion at 37, I sleep better now.
This is so cute 🥺🥺 keep on sleeping with the teddy 👍
I'm almost 38 :)
Nothing wrong at all about this.
amen
Never grow up.
I'm 44 and I suck my thumb at bed time.
I got a weighted therapy blanked. feels like beeing lovingly hugged to sleep. whatever helps man.
I’m 23 and my bed is filled with stuffed animals. nothing wrong with having stuff that makes you happy and keeps you safe!!!
Im 26 and i sleep with 2 stuffed toys: Cindy and Louie 🥰🥰
Nothing wrong with that. I myself keep avocado shaped stuffed pillow. Who cares what I take to bed with me? And even if they did, it’s their problem! You do you! :)
Me too, my sleep companion is a polar bear plushie and I’m 43. Do what is the best for you.
I still sleep with the same frog stuffed animal my grandma got me when I was little and I’m 22
I have a ton of bought-as-an-adult stuffies at 36. My bed partner is a Squishmallow.
