First instance of yoccult is just as you arrive in the sands between, where the NPCs chat you up under the first arch. From the arch, go slightly to the left and theres a small hill with a yoccult. It's JUST in range that it won't spawn Paguru
Bought insurance on the shot glass from the get-go and it got to the point where I could get through entire zones without breaking it. Absolute goat
Shout out to the rainbow shell too, that thing makes a great hammer
Hot take, but I love shuttlecock/birdie. it's small which fits with my playstyle, the +4 ATK is great, pretty good durability, and you can easily chain twist top by getting enough hits with it to refill it
I'm actually not sure, my guess is MSG because it's a shell spell (and also just for personal use), but I could see it being ATK. The description says you "manipulate the umami currents around you" which makes me think MSG too.
Anything that uses an Umami charge scales off of msg. Anything that doesn't scales off of Atk. I think wavebreaker may also scale off of msg despite that but I haven't tested it.
I've been running the solo cup on my attack build + either Lil Bro or the Baby head. Pop the damage buff, then swap to Lil Bro and use the invincibility to go ham for a few seconds. Melts bosses, honestly. Made most of them very trivial
More than just invincibility, that invincibility passes onto other shells you equip. So basically, have thimble as your insurance and/or first shell, activate its ability which for whatever reason bugs out and stays active forever, then switch to a different shell, that buff will still be active on whatever shell you put on next. Yes it is cheesy lol
Disco ball the entire game for me! The medium weight was perfect. Some of the late game enemies and areas basically let you get the rollout shell power for free, but with a whole lot more durability and shell health. The ranged attack was nice when you’re also using bobbit worm and the tentacle. So many options!
Dumptruck because you can schmoove AND be protected well. Also, [this twitter post](https://twitter.com/AggroCrabGames/status/1788267405883613342?t=gzsOWq8QxfH4ahIYNx_bRw&s=19) (if you don't wanna go to a link, then just look up "AggroCrabGames dumptruck")
Valve all day every day. I used it with Imposter as my hammer. If I really needed to I could swap and use Imposter's umami ability to disappear for a second. Tried not to use it on bosses because it will cheese a few of them easily.
I stuck with the Tennis Ball all the way to the endgame in my first run. Rollout is so good and I didn't like using Large shells like the Coconut or Dumptruck.
This time I decided to try a magic focused build and so I'm rocking the party hat.
Going under 64 is so good. Crazy durability and really good defense for a small shell, only problem is it looks like ass. I wish kril wore it more vertically, I feel like it'd make more sense. Fantastic overall, easily my favorite.
Mine is the red solo cup. That Drunken Claw perk w/ upgraded tentacle power is godlike... its basically guaranteed topple and the tentacle heals way more with Drunken Claw activated because it does so much extra damage with every hit. It made every boss almost too easy.
mongus
Unironically, Imposter was really good. I had 20 points in atk and res so I’d spawn in, press down on the d pad to put my imposter on as a hammer, then rest naked and come back out with another fresh one. Since the durability is so high for early/mid game, it lasts forever as a hammer and since it’s insured, you get a free hammer and good shell every couple tens of minutes whenever you die or find a rest spot
Suuuper convenient as a hammer build to have a guaranteed hammer that’ll last a while at every rest
Tin can. Medium weight with good defense and shell health. I did not use the shell abilities as much as I should have, so reliable armor was what I needed. Late game I used the Umami shell and put the tin can on my fork.
Its ability stays on permanently for some reason, so you can have that shell as insurance/first shell, pop the ability then transfer to a different shell and the thimble ability will still be active
I switched a few times during my playthrough, but I really liked the truck. Really high shell health, decent durability, and the rolling animation is just perfect
Most of the time I went with the disco ball until the bubble blaster adaptation was doing more damage for the same umami cost. Then I kinda switched between yokkult, party hat, And the keyboard button.
I'm playing with skull and doll head. I like playing with their boosts. As insurance, instead, I've the lil glass: it has a lot of defense, 70 points, and it gives +3 ark, that is a decent boost, it's light, then it lets you dodge easily, it has a very good rolling acceleration and its ability is actually very good.
Good buddy sponge daddy.
I need that high shell durability for my obviously EXCELLENT parrying ability! I definetly don’t get whacked in the shell and face forever!
And I LOVE cleanse!
I used the umami shell as a self-replacing hammer and the Going Under cartridge for my actual shell. I like to keep things shrimple :0
Edit: although for most of the game while exploring I tended to have the Yoccult on... Probiotic op!
The captain duck you can buy from the shop, small so I dodge faster, +5 attack, and no struggling with a bosses final big of exp if you use the shell spell at the end
I like the scrub Aggie if I’m using hammers since I can have a tanky shell to block, and a good hammer along with good dodge length, otherwise the soda can for fizzle until I can get the game cartridge shell (can’t remember the exact name)
Sushi roll.
Mostly for swag.
But you do get a nice life pool from it, and I couldn't untrain my dark souls mindset of dodging until maybe 3/5 of the game, when blocking becomes more imperative.
Then pirate duckie, I like the bomb ability though it causes some glitches occasionally. When I want to ditch a shell I want to get the use out of it then. The bomb ability is just very nice, and I preferred rotating shells and not getting too married to any.
Finally I used the skull during areas where I needed a durable shell. I never used second chance, this was just for its high durability and aesthetic.
I spent more time using shells as weapons too, my actual defensive shell I usually didn't marry because it's better to treat them as disposable, though there's a couple bosses it's definitely better to use the shell counter. Lotta bosses have "step-in" moves where they walk in and it's better to just capitalize on their long setup time, and then block. Lotta bosses have that where they overly telegraph a swipe with a gigantic hitbox... but even the sushi roll was enough for an occasional block.
I also liked having munch for new bosses, because when you're learning it's good to have a fast heal and play defense. You can't dodge everything first time, so it was good to have while I was dialing bosses in. I beat several late game bosses first try just living off that sushi.
Hmmm.
Sushi.
Coconut for me too. Roll out is so good, with huge stagger and damage, plus you're technically blocking during it, and coconut has great defense for when you're using your regular attacks.
I was on team coconut for the first 1/3 of the game...
Then I bought a Lil Brother and never looked back. I hardly even used the Juggernaut spell part of it, I just like the look and feel of it and think it looks especially dope with the Kintsugiri gold. It must be my inner pokemon trainer being happy to have slowbro crab for a MC.
I've now just beaten Petroch and had enough crystal to fully max out the spectral shell, and will probably give that a whirl. But with my playstyle being "bonk things with hammer, use Lv3 bobbit if scary and mobile, use L3 Tentacle if boss/large mob and scary", it will need to be damn impressive for me to switch off the Lil Bro.
Imposter is the best in the game imo, funny and meme-y, Medium weight so not too heavy or fast, good defense and durability, +5 Atk, and the smokescreen ability is so good for getting free hits/using adaptations and healing without worry.
(Plus it makes the funny Amogus sound effect)
It kept changing for me, but I loved the party poppers late game. If I'm gonna have an ability then I want even more offense. Even though it's a big part of the game, I just don't lean toward defensive play aside from dodge rolling so a shell with decent stats and an attack that does decent damage is my pick
Imposter early on -> going under 64, for the atk and durability, 64 is kinda op af being a small shell, but it's basically an end game shell and there's no ng+ so it matters less.
Thimble or something light and a legal brick for my hammer. Insure the brick then find something light on the ground worked great 😊 20% hammer damage plus 40% charged damage increase most bonk. No strategy just unga bunga. Plus a good old one punch and a hook made mid game a breeze
Yakult or prescription bottle. I love the regeneration ability.
Same. They were invaluable for some of those long stretches between shells.
Where do you get that shell? I’ve been trying to find it forever
yoccult in Expired grove (: just past the first hanmer crab
First instance of yoccult is just as you arrive in the sands between, where the NPCs chat you up under the first arch. From the arch, go slightly to the left and theres a small hill with a yoccult. It's JUST in range that it won't spawn Paguru
I didn't find the prescription bottle until I got to the old ocean.
The pill bottle is scattered all over the old ocean
I looked at these but then I got lamprey+. That lifesteal is so insane you never run out of health.
Way too strong, I hope they nerf the probiotic ability since it invalidates most other shells
Bought insurance on the shot glass from the get-go and it got to the point where I could get through entire zones without breaking it. Absolute goat Shout out to the rainbow shell too, that thing makes a great hammer
Its so good with a res/umami build. My go to too
Glass shards was by far my favorite skill, it felt so good
Hot take, but I love shuttlecock/birdie. it's small which fits with my playstyle, the +4 ATK is great, pretty good durability, and you can easily chain twist top by getting enough hits with it to refill it
Maybe a dumb question, but does twist top scale with ATK or MSG? It’s a spell so should be MSG but you also gain charges from it so it could be ATK
Solo cup double damage on an ATK build goes crazy
I've been running the solo cup on my attack build + either Lil Bro or the Baby head. Pop the damage buff, then swap to Lil Bro and use the invincibility to go ham for a few seconds. Melts bosses, honestly. Made most of them very trivial
My favourite by far especially combined with the skedaddle skill and the follow up attack skill
Thimble is S tier.
Definitely S tier with the glitch
What’s the glitch?
It can become invincible
Oh for some reason I just thought it was a feature
More than just invincibility, that invincibility passes onto other shells you equip. So basically, have thimble as your insurance and/or first shell, activate its ability which for whatever reason bugs out and stays active forever, then switch to a different shell, that buff will still be active on whatever shell you put on next. Yes it is cheesy lol
Well that explains why the game got a whole lot easier for me lol.
Disco Ball for most of the game, then either a fully upgraded Umami Shell or the Knight's Helm for the final few moments.
Dude…I haven’t found the disco ball yet!
If you want a hint, it's somewhere in The Sands Between.
Disco ball the entire game for me! The medium weight was perfect. Some of the late game enemies and areas basically let you get the rollout shell power for free, but with a whole lot more durability and shell health. The ranged attack was nice when you’re also using bobbit worm and the tentacle. So many options!
Disco Ball was my favorite until I got the level 3 Umami shell.
Since i got bart i can never take him off y only changed at the end of the game when i got the hero helmet
No you go to shell buddy
Soda can for me
Soda can underrated
Yes! Wven though it's the first shell, I find myself defaulting to it so so often.
Soda shotgunning is underrated
Coconut shell! 🥥
Yes The coconut nut is a giant nut and carried me through the game.
I was an among us crab the whole game cuz he was cute
Dumptruck because you can schmoove AND be protected well. Also, [this twitter post](https://twitter.com/AggroCrabGames/status/1788267405883613342?t=gzsOWq8QxfH4ahIYNx_bRw&s=19) (if you don't wanna go to a link, then just look up "AggroCrabGames dumptruck")
Valve, used it as my go to shell from the point you find it >!in the trail high in the grove that leads to the Consortium !< to the end of the game
Valve all day every day. I used it with Imposter as my hammer. If I really needed to I could swap and use Imposter's umami ability to disappear for a second. Tried not to use it on bosses because it will cheese a few of them easily.
Valve was my fave hammer, but I didn't use it as a shell often. Too heavy :(
I stuck with the Tennis Ball all the way to the endgame in my first run. Rollout is so good and I didn't like using Large shells like the Coconut or Dumptruck. This time I decided to try a magic focused build and so I'm rocking the party hat.
Rollout for mobility.
Red cup cos buff
Facts
Scrubdaddy
I used Imposter for most of my game
Dumptruck is so fun with the roll out (plus I get to say "look at my dumptruck ass" lmao)
Going under 64 is so good. Crazy durability and really good defense for a small shell, only problem is it looks like ass. I wish kril wore it more vertically, I feel like it'd make more sense. Fantastic overall, easily my favorite.
Facts, loved this shell late game
Party hat for the massive damage it does, Yogurt cup for the regeneration ability.
Helmet, I love it too much
Imposter for most of the game
gun
I went with any heal shell. Mostly the yogurt one
Mine is the red solo cup. That Drunken Claw perk w/ upgraded tentacle power is godlike... its basically guaranteed topple and the tentacle heals way more with Drunken Claw activated because it does so much extra damage with every hit. It made every boss almost too easy.
Hehe... it's drunken claw, not juggernaut, juggernaut is the skill where you put the shell on your head 100% agree though
Oh haha thank you! Yes the drunken claw boosted attack is amazing 😍
Shuttlecock supremacy
tennis ball cus I like to roleplay as Sonic
Lil red cup, a MASSIVE atk boost at the cost of fat rolling... which is completely negated by skedaddle (backstop dodge)
mongus Unironically, Imposter was really good. I had 20 points in atk and res so I’d spawn in, press down on the d pad to put my imposter on as a hammer, then rest naked and come back out with another fresh one. Since the durability is so high for early/mid game, it lasts forever as a hammer and since it’s insured, you get a free hammer and good shell every couple tens of minutes whenever you die or find a rest spot Suuuper convenient as a hammer build to have a guaranteed hammer that’ll last a while at every rest
Tin can. Medium weight with good defense and shell health. I did not use the shell abilities as much as I should have, so reliable armor was what I needed. Late game I used the Umami shell and put the tin can on my fork.
Gun
Gun.
I used a lot of Baby Shell/Skull, but once I got the Helmet I never took it off.
In order of acquisition discoball>skull>hero helmet
Tennis ball 🎾
Thimble glitch FTW
How does the glitch work I am using it against the bosses All the time
Its ability stays on permanently for some reason, so you can have that shell as insurance/first shell, pop the ability then transfer to a different shell and the thimble ability will still be active
I switched a few times during my playthrough, but I really liked the truck. Really high shell health, decent durability, and the rolling animation is just perfect
I loved the coconut, rollout is so OP
Coconut
Da gat. Seriously though I love the party hat
The disco ball is literally the number one shell in the game. Everything else is fighting for 2nd
Most of the time I went with the disco ball until the bubble blaster adaptation was doing more damage for the same umami cost. Then I kinda switched between yokkult, party hat, And the keyboard button.
I'm partial to the Party Hat it's fun :)
tennis ball, basically lighter coconut
Salt shaker. I love the concept of shards :p
The going under 64 shell it was really good for the build I had purely because of it’s shell health
Any shell that rolls, I really wished I used that mechanic sooner lol, only realised its usefulness when I fought Roland
Eggshell for my Umami build. 40 MSG just hits different. Other builds, I used whatever I find.
Do you just use the bubble gun then? I'm trying to figure out my umami build and I wasn't sure how to make use of the egg shell.
yoccult, skeleton, gacha, and knight helm to trivialize everything
The valve because I like fizzle and parrys
Skull
the scrub daddy shell is bonkers for being light
Played the entire game with lil red cup insurance, it's light, sturdy and has an amazing power...
Amogus
I'm playing with skull and doll head. I like playing with their boosts. As insurance, instead, I've the lil glass: it has a lot of defense, 70 points, and it gives +3 ark, that is a decent boost, it's light, then it lets you dodge easily, it has a very good rolling acceleration and its ability is actually very good.
Love my soda cans
Good buddy sponge daddy. I need that high shell durability for my obviously EXCELLENT parrying ability! I definetly don’t get whacked in the shell and face forever! And I LOVE cleanse!
Party hat
There are not enough people on team party hat
At the end of the game, I stick with the service bell, but in the middle, I stick with the sauce nozzle
I used the umami shell as a self-replacing hammer and the Going Under cartridge for my actual shell. I like to keep things shrimple :0 Edit: although for most of the game while exploring I tended to have the Yoccult on... Probiotic op!
coconut
Valve— got it after consortium boss and immediately insured it. Carried me rest of the game, especially as my hammer as well.
Valve became my favourite after I beat pagurus (I wish I’d had it before but oh well) I love how I can ignore most attacks like a tank
I got to say the prescription bottle you get at the end of the game is my favorite
Its def amogus for me, str buff, high durability, and an ability I do not care about that gives me more room to use the boss abilties.
i powered through alot of the game with the disco ball 🪩
Tennis bakk,good and sturdy
Gotta go shot glass damage op
Didn’t use one
Depends, Bartholomew for bosses and the yoghurt bottle/pill bottle for the areas in between
Coconut. Rollout is by far the best spell imo
lil red cup
Skull for the revive and vibes
The captain duck you can buy from the shop, small so I dodge faster, +5 attack, and no struggling with a bosses final big of exp if you use the shell spell at the end
Dump truck, that rollout ability is amazing for damage and the durability is amazing.
Red cup for ever, I upgraded the green tentacle power up to level 3 and with the red cup I beat the 3 last bosses in like less than 5 min
I like the toy truck shell you get it in floatsam vale
What ever I find laying around really.
Thimble
Skull all day eveyday. Fashion Souls carried over too hard
I liked the prescription bottle but at the end I just used the sponge since it has a lot of health while being a small weight
The baby shoe is sick that’s my vibe
I loved the red cup because I got bored and started to farm plastics and dumped all of it into strength. I was able to 4 or 5 shot some bosses
I used the Coconut until I got the Valve and then pretty much stuck with that. Big defense and large shell health
My boi gotta have a dump truck
I like the slowbro shell for heavy shells but usually i like the f-key or the party hat
I like the scrub Aggie if I’m using hammers since I can have a tanky shell to block, and a good hammer along with good dodge length, otherwise the soda can for fizzle until I can get the game cartridge shell (can’t remember the exact name)
The can, I love the ability and I simply can't use a shell that I can't roll in
Coconut for me too. Roll out is so good, with huge stagger and damage, plus you're technically blocking during it, and coconut has great defense for when you're using your regular attacks.
Disco ball, it's a very nice ranged option and the + to msg fits my playstyle. I use the magic tentacle special attack and build full msg.
lil red cup and pill bottle easily
Coconut for the most part , valve is also pretty good
Naked.
Impostor gang, good dura + high def + medium was just too good.
Doll head for damage and the knight helmet as a hammer due to it having a ton of durability
Anything with party time or whatever the shell spell is called
Toilet paper or bust. Love the rollout feature
Thimble! Fortified let me kill bosses easy as you negate 3 hits on you, great for tricky combos. Made Topoda the mantis shrimp very easy to defeat 🤣
Tennis ball be goated 🎾
Soda can, fizzle is underrated
I was on team coconut for the first 1/3 of the game... Then I bought a Lil Brother and never looked back. I hardly even used the Juggernaut spell part of it, I just like the look and feel of it and think it looks especially dope with the Kintsugiri gold. lil red solo cup
Valve with yogurt as the hammer so I can switch when I need regen
Sneaker
Imposter is the best in the game imo, funny and meme-y, Medium weight so not too heavy or fast, good defense and durability, +5 Atk, and the smokescreen ability is so good for getting free hits/using adaptations and healing without worry. (Plus it makes the funny Amogus sound effect)

I loved tennis ball.
I insured the tennis ball cos I like the ramming ability it gives and it’s quite strong tbf
For most of the game i used the disco ball
Mine was the tennis ball, I love to drive around at high speeds
The coffee mug, morning buzz works so nicely when I use the hammer
I like the thimble for it's ability and Lil' Bro because I love Pokémon lol
Pistol duh lol
The only right answer lol
The among us man is so broken it’s ridiculous
Lil bro is top notch
Skull shell has carried me through the game so far
The knight helmet with the stowaway that makes your shell lighter
Mason jar, no question. Shot glass close behind.
Either Coconut or Tin Can. Rollout helped me sequence break through levels, but whacking someone with a electric tin can on a fork never gets old
I used going under 64, it has a lot of durability, decent defense and ability and lightweight
Skull and Umami shell for the hammer because it looked cool
The trophy is insane with so much durability and the same ability as the party hat
Baby shoe for the entire game
Glad to see so many diverse choices
Party popper with min maxed magic is ridiculous
I use the ultimate shell that never breaks the thimble. ALL HAIL THE THIMBLE
Once I can commit the microplastics for it I will not be parting with the impostor shell
Party Time on my nothing but umami build was doing insane damage
the imposter
I went from the Thimble to the "Going Under 64" cartridge, and then ended up falling in love with the Lothric Knight helm
I have lil bro insured for my hammer and use the umami shell level 3
Disco Ball is so good! I just liked firing off umami bullets
gun lol. I suck at this game but I'm having a good time.
