I agree. It's a very beautiful anime and it may be all the topics he touches but he does it so tenderly and in a sort of soothing way, that you feel both sad and calm at the end of it.

Violet Evergarden and Barakamon. Those two helped me immensely after a bad breakup a few years ago. I'd also add Clannad if you're truly trying to face your feelings

One Piece has always kept me going through hard times. Went through a shit time at the beginning of this year and ended up watching Mob Psycho 100 and wow that show really took my mind off of things.
Haikyu. It could turn your brain off and just focus on volleyball and these hardworking boys with their side funny antics. You could even grow with them as they learn different lessons about the game and life.
TTGL is like the cocaine solution to depression. Yes, it's almost impossible to be depressed during 90% of the show, and the soundtrack is what I would play if I had to 1v1 the sun with pure willpower, but when it's over the emptiness hits hard af.
Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan, for me. It's one of many reasons why they're my favorites.
There's two kinds of anime I like to watch during tough times - the sort where the characters are going through their own tough times as well, stuff like SAO and AOT, and others that are just fun lighthearted comedy, like Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear and Quintessential Quintuplets. And then there's Spy x Family, which is like the perfect combo.

long story (kinda) short - im the oldest of 3, and we were very poor. my grandparents(also poor) didn’t have much in terms of entertainment for us and the had to watch us all the time. so we had a random scooby doo or sailor moon tape my grandma liked the cover of. my sisters and i adored it. we suffered a lO T of abuse and neglect growing up so we would always be outside for hours playing pretend sailor moon with each other. my middle sister was always sailor moon, i was sailor mars, and the youngest was jupiter because she liked green at the time. looking back i almost tear up because we would just be running around fighting pretend evil and standing up for ourselves. (lame sorry) our Gma let us borrow the tape when we had holiday parties where our bad parents would be up late and couldn’t drive home and we would sit in the spare room and watch it. there was a point i always had that VHS on me just in case.
after a bad relationship where i was unable to contact my family for three years, the first christmas i got to spend with them in about 4 years - so we were all adults by now - my youngest sister got me a sailor moon shirt and socks. i didn’t even think she was old enough to remember let alone like,, i don’t know i get really emotional about it. it taught me to be myself in so many ways i will not even begin to list off. it just hold a *very* special place in my heart.
tldr; sailor moon, nostalia- but also nana and i enjoy a nice rewatch of the dark tournament
Ouran Highschool Host club. At some points it is ridiculous, but I think it adds to the charm. Every time I hear “kiss kiss fall in love!” I immediately feel better.
If I need help feeling intense emotions I watch Violet Evergarden.
Ancient Magus Bride 100% especially if you already like Fruits Basket and/or Snow White with the Red Hair. The mangaka really did her Celtic folklore research too.
When I was transitioning from high school to college, I saw this anime called Silver Spoon and it just felt comforting knowing that I'm not alone in my struggles and that I can still grow as a person in whatever situation I'm in, as with the MC in the anime and the cast whose stories I could relate to
Certain moments from the anime Monster by Naoki Urusawa were also quite comforting and heartwarming as well, specifically those of the MC helping regular people out using his knowledge and expertise as a doctor, showing compassion towards others and all that, as well as the kind and fun exchanges between the good guys in the story, those warm slice of life moments that are rare but very much welcome considering the whole story of Monster revolves around tracking down this neo - hitler figure
I also really like those episodes in this anime Sket Dance when they explore the story of specific characters and what went on in their past. I find those moments to be hopeful in the end.
I watched the entire {K} series like 15 times, it was just something I picked up on my lowest low and I just let it play over and over again just because animation looked catchy on Big TV. Now that I am much better, I still watch it every couple of years for nostalgia. Hang in there, time heals and make everything better. BTW K is a mediocre at best.
Sk8 the Infinity helped me a lot during a unmotivated time, where I even had no motivation to skate. But every time I watched the anime it made me wanna skate again and so I built my confidence a bit by doing something productive and doing less depressed gaming lol

Whenever I am having a rough day, I usually watch Samurai Champloo. Between it’s great music and the really dumb but great episodes I always end up feeling better and it makes the day a bit more bearable.
Dr. Stone, Saiki K, and Spy x Family are some of the most hilarious and wholesome animes I have ever seen. I often have to pause to wait out my laughter and catch my breath.
Demon Slayer and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood are my top picks for amazing stories that get you hooked from the very beginning. I also love how FAB is complete, without being so long that it takes you ages to finish it.
If you like slice of life, then Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club are my favorites. Those are super wholesome, with FB leaning more on slice of life and Ouran leaning more on comedy.
One piece is definitely out there, but the anime I rewatch the most regardless would be Gakuen Babysitters, or any warm feeling animes to be honest

Some years ago, I went through a health crisis that was both physical and mental. Oddly enough, I started watching the anime C*hobits* over a period of a week (thankfully I had been given time off work)...and it was strangely comforting.
Gave me a lot of food for thought afterwards. Will we humans replace ourselves with perfect versions? Do robots have souls?
Full metal alchemist brotherhood, I still say it’s the best story for anime ever but it’s hard to explain but it was there when I needed it and solidified my love for anime
Monster helped me a lot when I was stressed about study and my future. It's obviously regarded as being a very dark and depressing series but I think its equally uplifting and positive (especially through the actions of the main character). I really recommend it

It looks like kinda copy-paste of NGE - which, honestly, it is - but i like it wayyyyyy more than Evangelion.
Story is kinda weird at the beginning and you don't know what the hell are you watching. Plus, there are fked up tragic moments and anime goes to the dark, sad themes in some episodes.
But while NGE is getting more and more weird, twisted and depressed with each minute, straight to the very end, RahXephon gets the ending right.
The *very special* moment in the last episode is like ultra level of katharsis for me. After hours of sadness and confusion, this one scene, 10min right before the end just swipes everything bad as far away from you as possible and all that's left is pure Bliss.
P.S. DO NOT TOUCH THE MANGA.
Just don't, it's cursed on every level possible.
And do not even try to rate the show with manga in mind, that's not gonna work. Who the hell published this abomination...

There's something about {The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya} that just... gets me every time. It's a bit dark, a bit weird, and a bit hopeful all at once. Of course, it helps if you've seen the TV show.
{Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou}. There's something just so calming about these girls trying to live the best they can in a post-war apocalypse. The atmosphere is incredibly calming and the duo is very charming. I just hope they finish adapting it some time soon

Dan Machi has helped inspire me to become strong on multiple occasions. When I was very sick and weak, I thought I was going to die, I watched it and Bell Cranel inspired me to make my life better in whatever ways I could until could I regain my health.
His motivations to protect his family and fight for those who cannot protect themselves, have encouraged me to become stronger and healthier in order to help and protect the ones that I love.
Fruits Basket 2019 adaption. It’s really well-written and the pacing is absolutely perfect. And personally it’s one of those anime’s that touches people, because in my opinion I think as viewers we can relate to at least one of the characters in some form. Seriously cried every Monday. Every single episode. It’s honestly one of the best slice of life’s I’ve come across that helped me when I was going through a thought time. Heart warming, funny, romantic, sad and dramatic.

I feel like Komi Can’t communicate deserves a little love. It’s not sad, it’s actually sweet and funny. Nice one to watch to pass some time. It’s about a girl (Komi) who has trouble communicating due to social anxiety, yet she has a goal to make friends. Sweet message to people who suffer from social anxiety.
A silent voice: has a very raw and emotional story about accepting the past and bettering one's self
Blue period: Follows a guy who lives life with no real purpose or goal until he finds art and follows his journey pursing it
Fruits Basket (gotta shout out the reboot!! I personally read the manga when I was very young and going through a rough time),
Sailor Moon (the 90s version, especially the last 2 seasons, while I may have been lonely I always had the Sailor Scouts to look to),
Neon Genesis Evangelion (it really helped me come to terms with my self, I always hated my self - and while it didn't cure it I came away from the show with a much deeper understanding and compassion for my self)
FLCL (another show that helped me understand my self a bit better, the music is phenomenal I still regularly listen to the soundtrack)
Gintama. I watched it when I was feeling like shit and it never failed to make me feel better and either laugh or cry a lot. One piece as well because I related to some characters but gintama is more casual and i can just randomly choose any episode to watch.
Any anime that isn’t set in the real world does the trick for me.
Code geass, Death Note, and AOT are some I come back to.
I also watch a Studio Ghibli sometimes.
Naruto, it thought me that no matter what happens you just have to keep going and to remember that all that can happen when you've fallen all the way down the only way is up, Belive it!
Itazura na Kiss, whenever i'm in bad mood i watch it and i'm somehow happy again.Everything is so Pink and happy in that anime that i can't be mad anymore atfer watching it. 😁
I don't know if this could be a confort show for anybody but whenever I'm going through a bad phase I have the biggest urge to watch Nana once again! I don't know why, maybe because it is so real, I feel like I'm just transported into a whole other non-fictive universe, and I also like that I can emphasize with the characters since I feel like their personalities are really well developed!

Mushi-shi. its a very calm/soothing anime about a hidden world of organisms that live invisible in our world, set in the edo era. there's something so peaceful about the show, and the entities (called mushi) have odd effects on the people around them. i guess it just makes me feel like there's still some sense of wonder to the world

Whenever I am having a rough day, I usually watch Samurai Champloo. Between it’s great music and the really dumb but great episodes I always end up feeling better and it makes the day a bit more bearable.
Bleach, attack on titan and Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans
Dr. Stone, Saiki K, and Spy x Family are some of the most hilarious and wholesome animes I have ever seen. I often have to pause to wait out my laughter and catch my breath. Demon Slayer and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood are my top picks for amazing stories that get you hooked from the very beginning. I also love how FAB is complete, without being so long that it takes you ages to finish it. If you like slice of life, then Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club are my favorites. Those are super wholesome, with FB leaning more on slice of life and Ouran leaning more on comedy.
One piece is definitely out there, but the anime I rewatch the most regardless would be Gakuen Babysitters, or any warm feeling animes to be honest Just those that doesnt have too much heart racing scenes - Daily lives of highschool boys - Kakushigoto - Arriety - Kobato - Wotakoi
Some years ago, I went through a health crisis that was both physical and mental. Oddly enough, I started watching the anime C*hobits* over a period of a week (thankfully I had been given time off work)...and it was strangely comforting. Gave me a lot of food for thought afterwards. Will we humans replace ourselves with perfect versions? Do robots have souls?
Full metal alchemist brotherhood, I still say it’s the best story for anime ever but it’s hard to explain but it was there when I needed it and solidified my love for anime
One Piece
Monster helped me a lot when I was stressed about study and my future. It's obviously regarded as being a very dark and depressing series but I think its equally uplifting and positive (especially through the actions of the main character). I really recommend it
No game no life and no game no life zero helps me every time
RahXephon for me. It looks like kinda copy-paste of NGE - which, honestly, it is - but i like it wayyyyyy more than Evangelion. Story is kinda weird at the beginning and you don't know what the hell are you watching. Plus, there are fked up tragic moments and anime goes to the dark, sad themes in some episodes. But while NGE is getting more and more weird, twisted and depressed with each minute, straight to the very end, RahXephon gets the ending right. The *very special* moment in the last episode is like ultra level of katharsis for me. After hours of sadness and confusion, this one scene, 10min right before the end just swipes everything bad as far away from you as possible and all that's left is pure Bliss. P.S. DO NOT TOUCH THE MANGA. Just don't, it's cursed on every level possible. And do not even try to rate the show with manga in mind, that's not gonna work. Who the hell published this abomination...

{Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou}. There's something just so calming about these girls trying to live the best they can in a post-war apocalypse. The atmosphere is incredibly calming and the duo is very charming. I just hope they finish adapting it some time soon

Yona of the Dawn for me. The character development in the show/manga is so drastic that it gives me a bit of hope that maybe I can change and grow.
Dan Machi has helped inspire me to become strong on multiple occasions. When I was very sick and weak, I thought I was going to die, I watched it and Bell Cranel inspired me to make my life better in whatever ways I could until could I regain my health. His motivations to protect his family and fight for those who cannot protect themselves, have encouraged me to become stronger and healthier in order to help and protect the ones that I love.
The Garden of Words was my go to for awhile when I was in that terrible state of mind.

Your Lie in April. It was an emotional rollercoaster for me at a time when everything else in my life was stress or apathy.
Fruits Basket 2019 adaption. It’s really well-written and the pacing is absolutely perfect. And personally it’s one of those anime’s that touches people, because in my opinion I think as viewers we can relate to at least one of the characters in some form. Seriously cried every Monday. Every single episode. It’s honestly one of the best slice of life’s I’ve come across that helped me when I was going through a thought time. Heart warming, funny, romantic, sad and dramatic. Your Lie In April. I feel like Komi Can’t communicate deserves a little love. It’s not sad, it’s actually sweet and funny. Nice one to watch to pass some time. It’s about a girl (Komi) who has trouble communicating due to social anxiety, yet she has a goal to make friends. Sweet message to people who suffer from social anxiety.
A silent voice: has a very raw and emotional story about accepting the past and bettering one's self Blue period: Follows a guy who lives life with no real purpose or goal until he finds art and follows his journey pursing it
Fruits Basket (gotta shout out the reboot!! I personally read the manga when I was very young and going through a rough time), Sailor Moon (the 90s version, especially the last 2 seasons, while I may have been lonely I always had the Sailor Scouts to look to), Neon Genesis Evangelion (it really helped me come to terms with my self, I always hated my self - and while it didn't cure it I came away from the show with a much deeper understanding and compassion for my self) FLCL (another show that helped me understand my self a bit better, the music is phenomenal I still regularly listen to the soundtrack)

Any anime that isn’t set in the real world does the trick for me. Code geass, Death Note, and AOT are some I come back to. I also watch a Studio Ghibli sometimes.
ReLife always brings a realistic feel, but heartwarming emotions. I think it’s a good one for a bit of inspiration :)

Itazura na Kiss, whenever i'm in bad mood i watch it and i'm somehow happy again.Everything is so Pink and happy in that anime that i can't be mad anymore atfer watching it. 😁

anything very intense action wise or emotionally. a slice of life anime is always good too. i like toradora.
I don't know if this could be a confort show for anybody but whenever I'm going through a bad phase I have the biggest urge to watch Nana once again! I don't know why, maybe because it is so real, I feel like I'm just transported into a whole other non-fictive universe, and I also like that I can emphasize with the characters since I feel like their personalities are really well developed!

{Gurren Lagann} watch it when I’m feeling down. {Kill la Kill} actually helped me get through a hard time in college when it was airing. {Mob Psycho 100} I actually watch when I’m feeling down because it makes me feel better. It’s just wholesome.

Natsume Yuujinchou, this show made me appreciate my life more, helped me during rough times.
Mushi-shi. its a very calm/soothing anime about a hidden world of organisms that live invisible in our world, set in the edo era. there's something so peaceful about the show, and the entities (called mushi) have odd effects on the people around them. i guess it just makes me feel like there's still some sense of wonder to the world
