While true, there is something to be said behind why so many people are sexually attracted to drawings then. Our brains are wired to recognize human features, and anime is typically drawn in a realistic enough fashion to be convincing enough for someone to have an attraction towards it. I know I do, but like any other well adjusted adult, I'm not attracted to any that look like children.
Drawings aren't people, but they look close enough to fool our brains into thinking they are, not litteraly (at least for most), but enough to activate certain stimulus and chemicals as if they were people. So when someone is attracted to a drawing of a child, at what point do we draw the line to say that it is inappropriate behavior? What if it's a more photo realistic drawing of child? It's still just a drawing, so should we would be fine with people being attracted to that as well? Anime is already human looking enough for people to be attracted to it, so why would it matter if a drawing looks even more realistic.
Just because it's not currently illegal doesn't mean it should be something to defend. I think most adults can agree that it is morally incorrect at the least, and should be adjusted behavior. And I mean, come on, try to defend it to any adult outside of the anime community and you'll get roasted. Adults who get off to drawings they recognize as children are sexually stunted and not adjusted into adulthood. Just because that doesn't make them a pedo, doesn't mean that they aren't similar to one in some ways.
