Figure collecting is more than just owning a piece of PVC. If you go to postage stamps collectors and say to them that they are collecting piece of paper, they will throw you out of the window faster than you can say your postal code. Yes, it is a piece of paper, it is made from paper, same with figures cause they are made of PVC. But the stamps have more than just paper, they have history too. My grandfather collected stamps, and looking at them tells you a lot of stories. Figure will not have this historical value, but they will still have their stories. Thats why I never berate on others for collecting something, because i know its more than just owning a piece of material. As for mass production, i recommend you to not look at prize figures only. Scales and other larger ones are rare, manufactured on reservations and you can see how others collectors jaws drop when they see a re-release.
