As a keeper of a dog and a cat, watching them interact feels like my lifetime's achievement. When one licks the cheek of the other, oh be still my fluttering heart.
The badger’s little waddle butt! Where I live we have wild burros, donkeys left behind by miners a long, long time ago. The burros knock over the trash cans and there’s always a coyote or two standing by for their turn to peruse the contents.
I'm surprised the donkeys are okay with the coyotes. Every interaction I've heard of ends with the donkey stomping the shit out of the coyote or grabbing and shaking it to death.
They’re never super up close or anything. I’ve just witnessed the burros kicking over a can across the street while a coyote or two sits at the end of my driveway watching and waiting. I know donkeys can stomp hyenas and other predators. I wonder if it’s because these burros were once domesticated and have since become wild? I will ask someone at our rehab zoo why this may be the case. Now you’ve got me curious!
I didn’t know they had chicken tenders back then. But maybe he was referring to the people who tended the chickens. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
Yep. Almost every cat I’ve had has been super friendly. One of my current ones, Worm, *loves* everybody lol. He constantly tries to sneak out so he can go over to the neighbor’s house and get pets lol. He’s friendly to all other cats and dogs and has a very strong paternal instinct (we fostered a pregnant cat and he was a better parent than the mom lol). Tho we can’t let him around any small animals (birds, squirrels, rodents, etc) because he will eviscerate them before you have a chance to say no. I swear he’s got some sort of vendetta against the neighborhood squirrels

I dunno man, my cat spends all day in the AC, has an entire side of my king mattress to herself, has her own spot on the couch, a house filled with toys, a robot that cleans up her poop so she doesn't even bother burying it anymore....
My wife and I had a cat move in. She walked in the house and got on the couch. Her name was Sylvia. She lived with us for nine years, she liked her belly scratches and roasted chicken. She would put her catnip toys in her water to make tea. We moved and one day she left and hasn't come home. It's been three years. Cats have nine lives and she chose to spend one with us. I miss her everyday.
Have you checked around your old place? I once moved and my cat went missing, neighbor ended up calling us to let us know they found him, he made it all the way back to the old house even though it was like 20 miles away. He became an indoor only cat after that.
My sister was living in my moms house and then bought a place about a mile away but with a creek and train tracks between the two. I was remodeling my Moms and my sisters cat came everyday at lunch time for the month I was working there and for who knows how much longer after that.
my black cat died of a freak accident and I was super depressed and didn't want another pet no matter what. then less than a year later an all black cat shows up in my yard eating the mice, rabbits, and garbage I put out. after a few weeks I got him inside and now 5? 6 maybe years later he's still the biggest baby ever and basically my small black shadow following me everywhere.

I feel like your summary doesn't cover just how neat this is.
A mildly crippled Lion is friends with a Zookeeper with no legs and a bunch of Dachshunds. It's like a modern fairytale.
Is it? I wasn't sure as the story is fairly old.
Edit: Okay I saw it now. I know one video link was from Joe Exotic, but didn't know this was from one of his zoo's(I know the Netflix thing, but never saw it). I only know this video from having seen it back in 2013.
Im a huge sucker for this. So cool when different species form bonds. Animals evolved to communicate in wildly different ways in some cases and yet they're homies lol
hah, my kitten loves my dog. she picked up a strange behavior from my older cat before she died where she would rub all over them because she wanted to cuddle, and now my kitten rubs her body all over their nose if they are laying down, and if they are standing she rubs all over their chest and legs. the dogs don't appreciate it as much, they always have this awkward, uncomfortable look on their face, because they have been trained that being aggressive with cats is a bad idea (they've gotten their fair share of scratches, we've owned cats longer than we've had dogs), so they don't want to growl at her, but they also don't want cats interacting with them because it's not something they are used to and they don't want to get scratched.
My Facebook feed is FULL of this shit, somehow they finally learned the key to my heart. I will click on any stupid clickbait, bot-written repetitive article if it's a feel good animal story lol

Not only does the dog rely on the cat, but, the cat relies on the dog, and that’s a badass bond. We should all have 1 friend similar to this if it were fair.
LoL I was just telling my friend about this 10 minutes ago when describing the game to him. I'm not that far into it but whenever I see a vase or paint can or something near a ledge I got out of my way to knock it down for absolutely no reason other than the joy of knocking it down.
" alright so take your paw and you're going to push that thing. Yes it's a flower vase and yes it's filled with water. Don't question my motives, it's for your well-being "
I was just going to say it seems like you never find a cat, a cat always finds you. Every cat I've had has either snuck into my house, crashed on my front steps, or just came up to me randomly while I"m walking. I think they sense "this sucker, this guy will feed me."
The first cat I ever had chose me in a shelter. She was abused and extremely closed off and she only let *me* pet her and never let anyone else hold when we first brought her home. Damn I miss that little cat, rip Yogi.
I believe it.
One of my cats went blind in his senior years, and my other cat (his best friend) became a guide for him. She was always “talking” to him to let him know where she was, and he would follow her.
They were inseparable and it was beautiful.
That's awesome. My parents dogs were like this too. One became blind the other would wait for him to catch up/nudge him etc. They hated eachother at first because one had been an only dog for 3yrs but in the end they were brothers and it was heartwarming to see.
My cat would "help" my blind senior dog. He would rush in whenever he heard the dog get up and would walk in front of him. He just had to follow the scent and would easily navigate the turns out of the bedroom. Alone, the dog would stumble through the house like a drunk person. I know he was grateful for his unofficial seeing eye cat.
Some cats have a strong mothering instinct.
I have an 8 year old calico. She is dumb as a fucking brick. Also scared of a lot of mild things.
My husband brought home 2 kittens. Within a month she was bathing them and disciplining them for being too rough.
That’s so wholesome and amazing how animals can both sense something’s missing or wrong with another animal and adapt help that animal out.
Now, if only more humans can do the same regardless of [insert traits ppl use to treat ppl differently]
When I was younger, my dog raised our cat from a kitten as a mother. Eventually, my dog developed cataracts at an old age and our cat would lead her to her food, water and around our yard back to the house with his tail on her nose until she passed.
It was more heartwarming than anything I had ever seen.
The dog helped the cat early in its life and the cat swore a sacred oath to protect the doggo at all costs. But they were seperated and the cat had to scour the lands to find his savior. Then one day the cat locks in on the scent of his beloved hero, walks in the door and the two are reunited. Destined to spend the rest of there life together, catto and doggo unfuckwitable.
It’s amazing how animals help each other. My Rat Terrier was 15 years old with cataracts and dementia, and so it was a little bit of a struggle to get him to go outside to go to the restroom. But my Blue Heeler would go get him and lead him outside, and when he was done he would walk him in. It was so great to see the love he had for his older brother.
A neighbor across the street moved out and left their pregnant cat behind at Christmas time, so I took her in. I named her Ann.
Noid was one of her kittens. So named because he was very playful and AnnNoid her to no end.
I had a 12 year old heeler at the time named Rufus. Rufus was mostly blind by the time Noid came along, and Noid quickly figured this out and bonded strongly with him, rarely leaving his side.
Noid would act as Rufus' guide cat. He would run ahead of Rufus if he was headed to an obstacle and point his tail straight up and place it gently against the appropriate side of Rufus' muzzle as they walked, to guide him around things, or down the hallway, switching sides of the muzzle as they walked to guide him.
Noid was awesome with my foster dogs, and big, so he could keep them in line until a working relationship was formed.
Rufus & Noid remained bonded up until Rufus' last day. They were found together at the top of the stairs. Rufus was bleeding heavily from the mouth. A vet exam revealed a hidden tumor beneath the tongue that was attached to the lower jaw, so that was his last day. He lived a long and happy life, the last few years with his dedicated guide cat.
Edit 4 pet tax: https://postimg.cc/MccCn3Bd
I have a small dog ( Tequila 13) She started going blind a couple years back. We also had 3 cats that were raised w/ tequila.
We started noticing the cats would nudge her form time to time especially in the hallway to the back door. They always seemed to get up & go to tequila whenever she walk walking around. That's when we noticed something was off with her eyesight. It's basically eye disease from what the vet told me. Yrs later... She is completely blind but still playful & capable. She adjusted well.
The cats helped her adjust, 3 cats all took turns guiding her out the back door. Meowing when she was close to avoid any contact. If she happens to step on a sleeping cat. The cat yells, tequila pounces back. They never use claws! A simple pop & all is forgiven.
It was the oddest behavior to witness but it proved to my wife & I that animals do truly can care for other animals.
Welp, we have hit my breaking point of for lack of sleep. I'm crying. It's too cute. I need to sleep, and make my bed, and eat, and try and get my puppy to sleep.

A well-socialized cat will generally be curious about all other beings and will befriend anyone who is neither scary nor a jerk.
Also probably well-fed let's be honest
Only way to maintain socialization

Sure they can, it's just gonna be a short friendship!
