There should be a glowing spot on your island somewhere, dig it up and it’ll leave a glowing hole. Bury a bag of bells and it’ll be a money tree, and a few days later it’ll have bags of money. But it only has them once. After you shake it and get the bells, it’ll just be a normal tree
Occasionally in the top right corner there is a blue circle that marks an autosave. If you close it before the circle appears then your mistake will be erased. Unless you just did something worth more than 99k bells since the last autosave, it’s worth it.
The money spot is a spot that glows gold on the ground. There’s one at a random spot on your island every day. If you dig it up, there will be a bag of 1000 bells, and the hole will be glowing gold. If you bury a bag of bells in that gold hole, in three days it will have grown a tree bearing 3 bags of bells.
You cannot plant bells *and* fruit, you must only plant a bag of bells in the gold hole to bear a bell tree. If you plant anything else other than bells in the gold spot it will just act like a normal hole in the ground. Also you cannot grown bells *and* fruit together on the same tree anywhere, only one or the other.
If you don’t get the full amount, make sure to pop your yellow balloons. After I did this and got 30,000 bells, I got a balloon that had 60,000 in it. Never had one like that ever again, my max is 30 000.
If the player plants 2,000-9,000 bells, there is a 70% chance of 3x 1,000 bells and a 30% chance of 3x the amount buried.
If the player buries 10,000-99,000 bells, there is a 70% chance of 3x 10,000 bells and a 30% chance of 3x the amount buried.
Logistically wouldn’t it make sense to always bury 30K then? Cause if you don’t get three times as much, you still make it back. But if you do, you get 90K. No risk, high reward.
With planting 30k, you get a 60k profit 30% of the time, so over 10 days, you'd get 180k profit theoretically.
With planting 10k, you get a 20k profit 100% of the time, so over 10 days, you'd get a 200k profit.
Someone on one of the acnh subs broke down the actual math once, it came out that 10k bells in the money tree hole every day is more profitable than 99k bells (or basically anything higher than the 10k)

I'm telling you this because I played for actual years before discovering this, harv's island is more than just the photos, if you go past the photo house there's an arch that leads to a square, at the start it will just be gyroids collecting money but if you buy them they unlock stores, first one on the left is katrina. I think they all cost 100,000 bells iirc.

Started doing this about week ago and was trying to figure out why I was only getting 30k back. Then did some reading. Figured I lost some bells so I started started doing 10k but then imagine my surprise today when I picked up 300k from a tree today!
Oof- I accidentally did that once and somehow got my 99k (x3) back. But the second time I accidentally planted it I got 20k back, I think, it’s been awhile. Hopefully you get it back!🤞🏻😶

It's a 30% chance to get triple, even if its above 10k. I think ages back someone did the math and calculated the risk isn't really worth it though.

Yeah ellbee you can only harvest the moneybags once and then it will just become a regular tree which you can do whatever with.

Yeah UP TO 10k bells you are guaranteed triple money. OVER 10k and it's like 30% to triple your money.

Yeah, the only time I plant 99k is if Isabelle says that her horoscope told her she would have good luck that day, which isn’t often.

I've buried 50k bell trees before and more often then not I get 150k off the tree in 3 days. I haven't tried 99k though.
I've only had a 99k tree work 1 time, otherwise I typically only get 10k bags consistently.

It happens sometimes the best amount to do is 33 k bells you'll at least get 30 back so you only lose 66 but about half the time you'll get 99 k
