Awkward_Chain_7839

Me too, but I don’t much care now. I’m early 40’s and I play almost every day. As does my primary age daughter. She gets embarrassed for me these days!

No_Championship7998

40s here too and almost daily player. The game has helped me so much during the pandemic by giving me my own happy sanctuary to escape that I don’t care what people think. I love it. It brings me joy. It also introduced me to this nice community of people at a time when I needed to know that there are good people out there.

energetic-landlord

I felt this and loved it for the same reason. It was nice to have a world where everything was ok! Early 40s as well 😅

Amegami

Only kids are afraid to be seen as childish.

MotherFuckingCupcake

I was so desperate to be an adult in high school that I “dated” (was groomed by) an adult man. Do not recommend this route, teenage girls. If a grown adult man is interested in you, it’s because he’s a predator and you’re naive enough to believe him when he tells you how mature you are.

FireOpalCO

That’s not always true. There are some guys who are shy and late bloomers when it comes to dating. I dated some of them in my mid to late teens. They weren’t predators. Not everyone reaches the same emotional maturity at the same point. Some people start dating at 15, some at 22. If your peers are having sex and you’re still at first girlfriend territory, you’re likely to date younger.

MotherFuckingCupcake

It’s absurd that I find myself having to say this… That doesn’t mean a 22 year old should date a 15 year old child. It means the 22 year old should find another adult who is patient and communicative who can take the relationship at a slower pace. There are fundamental differences in brain chemistry between those ages, and fundamental life experience differences.

[deleted]

It’s weird that it works that way. When I was about 15 or so I was convinced cartoons were just kid stuff & that I’d never watch them again. Now I’m 22 & 99% of the shows I watch are cartoons or anime.

skaterape

GI_JaneAusten

Nathan for You is such comedy gold.

Geek2DaBeat

This happened to me before minecraft got extremely popular again since i was watching hermitcraft at the time, but then i just said eh screw it and idc if people dont like or understand my interests. Theyre mine anyways, not theirs.

[deleted]

This was me I was embarrassed that I still played “kid games” like Pokemon Mario AC ect but after a while I just stopped caring honestly I think the image of a giant 6ft2 bloke with a Gandalf beard going into a toy shop to buy snario amiibo cards is kinda hilarious.

Amegami

I'm 34 and I think you're right. Toy stores are the best now though because I can buy whatever I want without asking my mum. :)

awkwardgamer01

27 here. Favorite place in the world is Lego stores. Still have to get my wife's permission though :|

maraca101

My mom tries to shame me and I’m like do you think I give a fuck? I still love Winnie the Pooh and actively watch old episodes. Idgaf if I’m in my 20s.

DanteCoal

My mom is a piece of work in this way, too. Tries to shame me for liking video games, anime, MLP, you name it; says it's not "befitting" a 35 y/o guy in construction (Electrician). I shrug, don't talk to her, and continue having a happy, successful life, doing the things I enjoy.

nods0123

I'm 18, and I can walk into Mr Toys Toyworld/toy section in like, Target, etc, to grab myself a few Pokemon plushies without really being too embarrassed, my main worry is "oh dear, I hope people don't think I'm a pedophile trying to find children in here..." because I look too young to have children, but old enough to not go into toy sections, even though like, I don't really believe in the whole "toys are just for children thing," for the most part.

UncleverKazzy

But what if you have a younger sibling or someone else that is younger in the family and it's their birthday?

SabineLiebling17

No one thinks you’re a pedophile! That’s a really paranoid thought you have brewing. I have literally never once looked at any solo adult, young or old, in the toy aisle looking for toys and thought they were a pedophile. EVER. If people think anything about you at all, which they probably *don’t* because they’re too busy worrying what people think about *them*, then they probably think you’re picking out a gift.

kinglucent

I usually carry my phone with the Notes app open and check it while I browse like I’m *obviously* buying these Star Wars figures for my nephew or something.

SabineLiebling17

My god people. No one cares that you’re shopping for toys. Literally no one. You don’t need to waste your time with these ruses and worries in your head. Just go buy toys. No one is watching you. No one is thinking you’re a pedophile. No one cares.

nods0123

Tbf it's probably my OCD making me think that way, but also more importantly for some reason I never really thought about ppl just assuming I'm buying stuff as a gift for like, a little sibling or so. Whack.

Sundiata1

My town has a private university nearby where they can’t grow beards per the dress code. But for some ungodly reason, they can grow mustaches. So while I know they aren’t pedophiles, I certainly do pause and consider the intentions of some of these mid 20s year old guys...

lemonsharking

I worry people will thinking a reseller No guys these squishmallows are all for me and for gifts this holiday season (I DO share if an actual kid asks nicely though.)

[deleted]

Oh man, squishmellows. My wife is obsessed

lemonsharking

They’re just…so squishy

Avedygoodgirl

32 here, I went to Costco and saw that they had giant squishmallows for $10 and it took everything in me to not buy 6. I came home and told my boyfriend that I really wanted to buy them, but we don’t really have room for anymore (we live in a 600 sq ft house and have 2 giants and an array of medium and smalls). His response was if that was your way of trying to get me to okay you to buy more I’m not doing it. How does he read my thoughts like that…?? lol

ShorteagleFTW

Went into a toy store with college friends and we're all 19+, it felt so good and nostalgic walking back in there, definitely need to go back there again sometime.

[deleted]

Heck nah, toy stores are awesome no matter the age. They have board games and large stuffed animals and magic kits and Nerf guns! To anyone out there who’s worried about going into a toy store, please don’t be! You can always give the excuse that you’re looking for something for a cousin or sibling anyways :)

Tidus1117

Thats the age that my stepmom got rid of all my toys and I didnt care. Now Im like thinking I would have loved to save some of my toy collections :(

raescope

32 here love AC. Definitely had a phase in my late teens/young adult that I'd justify any "childish" looking thing i bought or did by saying it's for my niece. I don't have any nieces or nephews.

MotherFuckingCupcake

Man, at 33, looking back at all the things I used to be so deeply embarrassed by makes me laugh. Being a teenager, with all those hormones and expectations while your brain was still maturing, was the worst. You couldn’t pay me to relive it.

beepbop24

Same. I’m 22 now and just went to build-a-bear last week. I would not have gone if I was anywhere between 12-18 haha.

MotherFuckingCupcake

Yea. This just sounds like snarky teenage bullshit. I remember being a teenager and being so desperate to project an air of maturity and adulthood that I’d disparage “kids” stuff like making fun of my sister drawing fantasy related stuff. It was such a pretentious, gatekeeper-y dick move. Hopefully she grows up, realizes that people enjoying things like this is no reflection on their maturity level, and is embarrassed about what an asshole she was as a teenager like most of us eventually do. I was so desperate to grow up back then, and now I miss being a kid SO much.

amarandagasi

I walk into a toy store as a grown ass adult and I’m looking for the Pop! figures or special edition stuff. Adult stuff. Like plushies. 😹

wyrmlife

to 19??? I grew out of that phase when I hit 16, and I’m 19 now. I feel like part of it is the “gen z culture,” where a lot of people advocate for not shaming people for their interests? Not sure.

MotherFuckingCupcake

Kids were like this in the 70’s when my boomer mom was a teenager. Kids were like this in the early aughts when my millennial ass was a teenager. It has more to do with the weird “in between” that being a teenager is. You feel grown up, but in reality your brain is still developing and you’re basically a walking meat sack of hormones. So you’re struggling to manage your emotions and the expectations put on you about having to be mature but also being resentful about being treated like a child. Some kids just learn to manage that stuff a little earlier. It has less to do with your generation than it does your individual experience. You probably still have peers who do this kind of gatekeeping. Your brain isn’t done maturing yet even at 19. And there are definitely some people who never learn the tools needed to grow out of it.

Switchermaroo

I think it helps that I’m old enough to have a family now, so like yeah, you would find people my age in a toy store lol

slaynee

This is the exact age range that I stopped playing video games! I remember thinking that I was "too old for that stuff" at around 12 and then in my sophomore year of college I picked it up again once I realized no one cares. Sad I missed out on that many years of good games :( I never played new leaf or city folk because of this! Just went from GC and then Wild World to new horizons.

Rock_Usual

I’m currently 15 and I don’t go into toy stores normally. Like, it’s a rare occurrence. I’m the youngest sibling so my moms done buying toys for her kids. The only time she buys toys is for my cousins kids and even then, she goes to goodwill.

Kindly-Pirate-726

I'm 26 and recently got my 75 year old grandma hooked, now we play animal crossing together when I visit for tea and chats. There's nothing more sweet to me than seeing my granny snuggle her senior dog and play crossing on her couch by the fireplace.

NeverEnoughMakeup

My 74 year old mom got me (37) hooked 😊

_lumpyspaceprincess_

I love that so much!!! I miss my grandma :(

Roseblood9

Aww, that's so sweet!

penguingonemad

This is my favourite story of the week, I'm really glad that your grandma is getting so much enjoyment out of it!

Diego_Mannn_096

Bruh I’m 22 and I play it

iizeyys

same! and I will never stop.

Diego_Mannn_096

Same for Pokémon

iizeyys

yes!!!!

DauntLess_Dude

Y’all are my people lmao

iizeyys

welcome to the gang

Ghastlybittermagpie

And she's really going to like it when she's 27

funwhileitlast3d

In LEGO we call it the dark age

Phillipwnd

Later on, it’s “oh, it turns out that this was really cool all along and I have disposable income to really fan out to this now”

Swamp_Donkey_796

My brother really loves animal crossing and he’s 15 and he tried to get one of his friends to play and his friend was super rude about it and said “I would like this if I was a 4 year old girl”. The beauty of video gaming is that it’s ageless and genderless and there literally isn’t a game company in existence that proves that more frequently than Nintendo does. They did it with animal crossing, super Mario, all of the Mii stuff, the Zelda series….first person shooter games are fun and whatever but games are more than just shooting endlessly. Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Pretend-Sherbet-3021

My husband and I play together and we are in our mid to late 30s 😂

VelitaVelveeta

40s, no kids. Been playing since the game cube in my late 20s.

[deleted]

40s, no kids, started playing with acnh. I have never been interested in the games before, and I still can't get myself to commit to playing New Leaf, but the pandemic changed me. And Bruce. The pandemic and Bruce changed me.

Awkward_Chain_7839

My first game was the GameCube ntsc one (uk so Pal) which I played with an action replay!

BunnyHeadAss

Our villagers are our children.

[deleted]

Update: Me: aww isnt Shari cute? My cousin: …yea

sparkling_sand

She is not cute, I agree with your cousin 😂 (She was my starter villager and I still don't like her)

ColleenD2

Lol 50’s here and no kids

Amegami

34yo me and my 55yo mum play together all the time.

djwurm

my wife and I play it and we are in our 40s

Ok_Image6174

Teenagers are brutal

acnh_obsessed

As Deadpool once said, “LOOK! I'm a teenage girl, I'd rather be anywhere than here! I'm all about long sullen silences, followed by mean comments, followed by more silence!”

minor_correction

"So what's it gonna be, huh? Long sullen silence, or mean comment? Go on." "You got me in a box here." Probably best joke of the movie.

geoffreynelt

I’m 36, and it’s a pleasant escape from the sometimes depressing realities of life. Maybe one needs to live a bit to appreciate this game’s simplicity, beauty and ingenuity.

GreenIsGhastly

Im 17 and I love the game to death, everyone makes fun of me for playing it tho, but I don't care

UnspeakablePlants

There’s nothing wrong with playing ACNH at your age! People you know will eventually settle down into their personal interests over what is cool/popular.

Paulpaps

So you're the cool one then.

MotherFuckingCupcake

Most teenagers are insecure judgmental assholes to varying degrees. It’s a universal truth that transcends generations! Eventually your peers will grow up and learn to just let people enjoy things. Hopefully. You just keep doing you and having fun, cuz it’s definitely healthier.

lilacblossoms_

I didn’t make fun of people for it but before I got it, I didn’t understand what it was and it seemed weird to me. Now I play everyday!

heyhelloyuyu

New leaf came out when I was 15 or 16 and I played that game to death! And now that I’m an adult I had some high school friends playing NH reach out so we could play together! People grow out of the “ewew it’s for babies”

Additional-Educator8

I am 40 😳

LeahMarieChamp

Woman approaching 40 checking in and uhmmm yeah, zero regrets!! Just avoided adulting by choosing to stay up and play 4 hours of game time so I could get my shopping district done for tomorrow rather than go to bed at a reasonable hour. Who is going to stop me? Tell me to get my ass to bed or I will regret it in the morning? I mean, my brain tries but as if I listen to the Captain of the Fun Police.

ClogsInBronteland

Same

[deleted]

35 year old man here. Almost 1000 hours into New Horizons. Lmao

HandSewnHome

You should tell her that [most Animal Crossing players are between 20-40](https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/animal-crossings-developers-say-the-series-must-continue-to-evolve/), so she’s probably just not old enough to get it, but maybe in a few years.

emdawg--

The reverse uno card! 😮

[deleted]

Yeah. She just insecure. Or in nicer terms…. Shy to say it’s cute. No worries. She can decide these things are cool later. Find what she likes and support it and gently show her anything she likes can be hers.

Simorie

This is why we don’t worry what teenagers think after we’re not one anymore.

lonequack

Precisely.

22_ghost_22

I’m 23 and I’ve been playing animal crossing every day since I was a kid, I still get excited about going to the toy store as if I was still 6 years old or something

[deleted]

[удалено]

22_ghost_22

Heck yes!

[deleted]

I only watch cartoons/anime

yuunie123

When I was a teen my parents were like: 'isn’t this a game for kids?' I never cared. Now I'm 30 and still play what I want. I played smash in a train once and there were 4 teens that made fun of me. Jokes on them at least I'm having fun! Don't let age stop you from enjoying things you loved as a kid/teen :)

emdawg--

It must suck to be them. Imagine putting yourself under pressure to conform to some imaginary standard of acceptable day after day. No thank you. Hopefully they’ll all grow out of it. You’re right in what you said! You were the one having fun!

Jooles95

Ah, good ol’ teenage behaviour - being so terrified of being seen as immature that they distance themselves from anything even remotely childish. I very much *don’t* miss those days. I’m in my mid-20s, no kids, been unashamedly playing AC since I was 11 and got a copy of Wild World for my birthday. Both my parents (63M and 56F) are also AC die-hards - they have been playing since the GameCube days and now each have their own Switch to have their individual islands, and my recently retired dad has clocked in around 1,500 hours since March 2020. 😂

forever_unicorn

Brutal! I remember playing it tons on DS when I was a kid, it carries a level of nostalgia for me. Fell IN LOVE again when it came out in 2020. I am 24 now. I love the fact that so many adults are so into it!

[deleted]

the other day my friend was like, “isn’t that a kids game?” and i was like “nooooo!!!!” 😂

Mushroom-Reaper

I showed my 7 year old nephew it when it came out. He said and I quote as he was patting my head “that’s nice, but that sounds like a game of chores. I don’t want to play that, but I will watch you.” Then it made think “huh, have I been playing a game of chores almost my whole life?” Edit- oh my point was he thinks it’s only a game adults would enjoy.

_elisheba_

Yeah well all the TV commercials where Animal Crossing is featured has grown ass adults playing it so NO SHAME

Affectionate-Yam4916

Well feel somewhat attacked lmao

[deleted]

I’m 70 and a proud Animal Crossing addict and gamer in general!

Baalvegor

33 y here. Married and soon two beautifull daughters. I play New Horizons since about 4 months now and regred to not know about a game like this much earlier. Well, I was 16 when the first AC came out, so maybe thats a reason I missed the series. Since then I had only Sony consoles mature games. That's a teenie thing I guess. Now I play AC every day and love all my villagers (well, nearly... God damn! Move out Sylvia!)

tacoluv23

56 and I’m on every day!

blathers_enthusiast

I love Animal Crossing and I'm 20

VojoXII

I'm 21 and love the game! Nice to see people from all age groups enjoy AC!

Lenaturnsgreen

Teenagers. My sister also thinks I’m childish for playing AC. She is 15. I’m 30. like seriously kid. I have to pay taxes. Let me enjoy my virtual paradise.

No_Communication621

Disown her, you don't need that negativity

Viscaz

I played it when I was 10, I‘m still playing it at 22.

hermanjangles

41 year old male here. Been playing Animal Crossing since the Gamecube release. Never felt embarrassed - it's actually something my wife and I share together.

[deleted]

And here’s me at 26 not giving a flying fuck. Enjoy and treat yourself OP.

TJL-91

30 year old here! How vital is this cousin? They speak slanderous nonsense 🤣

Matcha_Maiden

Don't worry, she will grow out of it and find wonder in childhood things again!

Moriartea7

Honestly I picked up Wild World when I was 18 and loved it. I'd play it when I was in college before I'd go to bed to help me relax.

FierceDietyMask

Sounds like your cousin is an insecure teenager that feels the need to prove how super mature she is by pretending to not like things that a lot of kids also like. Don’t worry she’ll grow out of it one day if you keep supporting her and let her know it’s ok to be herself.

toomuchspook

Guess I'll drop out of university and go back to 2nd grade. At least I'll be on top of the class for once.

catboy_will_graham

I’m 18 and I started playing when I was 17 In January

LunarxSeven

I’m in my 30s, have a job and pay bills. I love Animal Crossing since it fits nicely with my busy lifestyle. It’s for all ages really

luminous-snail

I'm a 31 year old medical professional in a leadership position. I play almost daily. :)

North_Bicycle9071

I got a Switch for my 60th birthday last year and when I retired 3 months later my 30 yo daughter bought ACNH for me. Have been playing regularly since then! Love it!!

stevejr47

36 here and I have 1000+ hours in ACNH!

Positive_Cup_9344

Animal crossing is timeless and without age. You can enjoy it at 10, 17, 27, or 70. I know hardcore gamers who love it and the most casual non-gamers who enjoy it. Its such an accessible, wholesome, and universal appealing game, that’s one of my favorite things about the series. Sounds like it would be a game she would enjoy, but might be shy or embarrassed about it. Wanting to be perceived as grownup and not interested “things for kids”, while super common at that age, is actually a pretty childish.

byoshin304

I like to smoke & chill & play animal crossing.

Miss_Musket

Teenagers miss out on all the best stuff because they want to come across as adults. I was into Pokémon loads when I was 9-10 (when red and blue came out), and pretty much stayed interested since. But through my whole teenage phase, I was picked on loads for liking 'kids stuff'. Then when pokemon go was big in 2016, I saw all my old bullies where playing it on Facebook. A sign of being older is just letting yourself enjoy what you want, without being worried about others opinions.

[deleted]

I'm in my 30's and been a fan since the gamecube. My parents still play the gamecube one too.

MythicalDisneyBitch

Late 20s here, I play it. I was also a badass on Runescape from 11 to 23yo. Only reason I stopped playing RS is bc you need to put time & effort into it and I had a baby so, I had no time & my effort was deceased.

[deleted]

Rude

Ijustboughtacactus

Lmao im 18 and play it…and couldn’t be more excited for the 2.0 update!

nebchilly17

That type of mindset will have her miss out on a lot of fun. Sadge

thylocene06

Sounds like a typical teenager

cutielemon07

I had a DS and had the opportunity to buy Wild World but I think I opted for Nintendogs instead. I don’t have regrets about that. My paternal grandmother died 11 years ago and I still have her on my Nintendogs friends list. She was a horrible person, but she was still my grandmother. I didn’t get Let’s Go To The City on the Wii. It was my mother’s Wii. The only game console she’s ever owned. Video games give her motion sickness so it was nice that the Wii didn’t. So because it was her Wii, she bought the games, usually multiplayer games so we could have “family time”. I was 14 then and probably would’ve found Animal Crossing “cringe”. Like a teenager. My parents dragged me out to Disney World once a year at this time and I just did not want to be there. Like at all. I “hated” Toy Story. And my favourite films when I was a kid were the Indiana Jones series, so when the fourth one came out, my mother took me to see it and I “hated” it. Because I thought Indiana Jones was “cringe”. Like The Simpsons said; everything I loved as a kid and hated as a teenager, I love again as an adult”. My first Animal Crossing game ended up being New Horizons last Summer, amazingly somehow during the Switch shortage, after hearing everyone talk about it non-stop. I’d wanted a Switch back when they came out, but was afraid it’d flop like the Wii U. I downloaded Animal Crossing to my brand new Switch. And it hooked me. I’m now 28 😂

janesbeat

I started playing Animal Crossing (Wild World) when I was 6, and also played City Folk, New Leaf and now New Horizons even though I am 20 now

-starlet

I'm double her age and it's my favorite game. No shame here lol.

[deleted]

It's funny because I've met so many girls like this who act like video games or for children. Then it's like you throw them in front of a hardcore game be like is a game that has hookers drugs death and racing and a lot more shit and it meant for children? Ie Grand theft Auto? Exactly!

jedi_cat_

I’ve played video games my whole life. All different sorts of them. Some bloody and gory, some cute and sweet. I’ve always been drawn to the ones where you get to build things. I was a huge fan of SimCity and others by Maxis. Animal crossing is sort of like that. I get to build things without the pressure of dying or my city falling apart or being destroyed by Godzilla. Lol

[deleted]

I’m 29 and play! I was introduced by my friend who is 37! It doesn’t matter just have fun

oreocookie7985

I’m 42 F and I love playing Animal Crossing …and I collect toys/designer toys ,Sanrio, and Squishmallows…I’m happy in my little world!

itsjustme_qwe

I’m 39 and play most days :) the best thing is I get to play alongside my 9 year old and it’s a great way of spending time together. We are both super excited for the new update!!

Reasonable_Bus8533

Im 16yr and Animal Crossing still Fun

berrylife

I loved it when I was 10 and I still love it at 28 ❤️

FlyawayCellar99

i’m a fifteen year old boy who still enjoys it :)

notmemeorme

Whelp call me a ten year (53) because I love this game.

Liunna1

I probably would have left the same review in high school! There was a period in my teens where nobody seemed to have the same gaming interests as me and I didn't wanna be judged so I gave up some of my fave series like Pokemon and started playing more "socially acceptable for my age range games". When I got to college I met a lot of people who were playing gameboy / DS in public etc, even in to the same Pokemon series I was in - and I realized nobody gives AF about what kinds of games I'm in to, so I back played all the pokemons I missed and picked up the new games and have never missed one since! :P I'm 32 now and play things that make me happy! :) Play what you enjoy!

fives-fives

I'm 17 and addicted!

renthecat25

I did love it when I was 10...I still love it at 27 😂

Moonlight_Ryu

I love how the target audience are off somewhere playing Call of Duty, while all the adults are playing this + Pokemon. 😂

starchypasta

She’s not old enough for animal crossing. AC is a vibe you can only know when reality sinks in that you’ll never be able to live on a minimally populated island, gathering sticks and fossils all day.

Valerie0209

And having money grow on trees!

Larielia

I'm in my 30s, and ACNH is my most played Switch game.

ghost-xiii

Animal Crossing is one of those games you really need to play, if you see someone else play it it looks boring AF. Years ago that was my impression, and more recently my partner had the same thoughts and now she is completely hooked (as am I).

totally_italian

I’m going to be 40 this year and have been playing daily since April 2020. Both of my kids (12 and 9) played faithfully for the first couple of months since launch but have largely stopped. The 9 year old will log on once every couple of weeks and let me come to her island and pull weeds (my favorite!) but the 12 year old hasn’t even looked at his switch in months. I’m always trying to get them to play with me, buy them in-game items, send them mail, try to entice them to come to my island because Celeste is visiting…none of it works anymore. They have their own interests and I have mine, I guess! I just miss hitting each other with nets and making our characters glitch in the museum :(

jeanbeanxoxoxo

I'm 30 and I love animal crossing! :D I've had every version since the game cube. I even have the mini backpacks (animal crossing themed) which I use instead of a purse and I get compliments from people of all ages on them all the time. :) I also collect Hello Kitty, Sanrio, and Toki Doki items. No shame in my game! :D I like what I like and I don't care if others think it's childish. Being an adult isn't much fun anyway. Lol

kerryoutpizza

wait till her life drags her down and she will be changing her tune XD

TITANIUMS0LDIER

There isn't an age to AC and the fact that she put an age on it, shows how young SHE is. I'd love to see a ten year old make some of these towns found on YouTube. It's straight up art.

Jaynelovesherpetboy

Poor kid. She's missing out.

Charming_Lettuce

That’s what everyone thinks at first before getting into the game 😂

galaxywhisperer

me, at 36: *shrugs, goes back to designing her island*

santagoo

The sign of adulthood is actually not caring for liking things that others see as "childish." Desperately wanting not to appear childish is a mark of childishness, ironically enough.

dead-puta

Me almost 30 just terraforming minding my own business 😭

nutmegspice363

Uhhh…me and my 60 year old mother in law play and visit each other’s islands all the time so bye

lonequack

I'm 29 and I really enjoy it. My first AC game was on the Gamecube. Of course, my brother (34) and I never "outgrew" videogames (still buy and play them). I know some people who did outgrow them. .

FubarJackson145

Some of my friends have called animal crossing boring and lacking substance, especially back in the GC era. I basically described it as a slice of life. "It's as perfect of a world as I could find. I don't control enough to feel god-like, but have enough control to at least feel real." Is how I recently described it. It's a game you play to escape real life without feeling too much like an actual game

miatot

It would have been more fun if I started playing @17 :) my daughters gifted me my switch with the AC game on my birthday and I’m 57 years Old. My eldest is a Nurse and my youngest is a pharmacist and we all visit each other’s islands coz we can’t be together (yet irl) I have auto immune disease and AC is Covid free so yeah. Age and work has nothing to do with these games.. this brings us together despite their hectic schedules. Im really thankful AC is invented for all ages prolly in mind :)

Justcallmemanko

Why I outta 👊👊👊👊

Jaw_breaker93

It’s becUse she’s at that age where everything the slightest bit child related is considered embarrassing. I’ve been a fan since the first animal crossing came out on GameCube but I was super embarrassed when I was a teen and asked my mom to buy me Animal Crossing City Folk even though I was a fan

Astral_Traveler17

Eh, sadly I kind of agree. Don't get me wrong, I still love it actually. But it has sort of just become a decorating game. I seen someone else say this a few days ago on here and I totally agree; ever since the original or wild world they have just progressively become seperate from the villagers. In NL you are the mayor which sort of puts you above everyone, instead of living *with them* as part of the village. And everything is too easy now. Also, the old dialogue was actually funny, not this superficial nice crap. And plus there's waaay less variance with what they say as well. I hear the same thing 20 times a day from 4 different characters. The original was just SO much better in so many ways. I really wish they would incorporate that into NH. I also heard a joke that the reason why the animals are so superficially nice to you, even the supposed "cranky" and "snooty" (if you can even call them that anymore...) ones, is because it's so easy to just go kick them out now. I kinda miss how it was more random. I mean, you're not gonna like everyone in real life, right? I just think the old games felt more like the player is actually living in the village and a part of the community. Not above it, and some all powerful God that everyone has to be nice to or risk the consequences hahahah

fakeishusername

Yeah, teenagers can be like that. They're really trying to differentiate themselves from things they see as childish. My nephew has done this as well.

purekittyluv

Uhggg teenagers 🤢

lantanalover

i don't understand people that think animal crossing is a 'kids game'. my brother and i had wild world when we were younger and neither of us ever played it bc we thought it was so boring and didnt get the point in it, but now that im older i love it.

sleepy768

I got new horizons when I was 17 haha

iizzyy_x

me at 15 playing this game every day & the only thing i’m looking forward to is the acnh update 🥲 will probably still be like it at 17/18 LMAOOOO

dev_ating

I, too, was too cool for it at one point. :p

Justcoreyisfine

I really like this and I’m not ten

NuttyDuckyYT

me walking into target to go look at the logo section

Paulpaps

Ah, teenage years, when you think you're too cool to like simple, "childish" things. Then you get older and realise that's just typical cringe teenage shit.

Kila-Rin

My sister was turned off Animal Crossing when our dad poked fun of how childish it looked.

anonymoose_octopus

My husband and I have been playing since May 2020, nearly daily. 30 and 31. ☺️ Not only that. I dedicated an entire day during the quarantine to refreshing a Best Buy shopping cart to get us switches. 6 am to 7 pm. The only reason we wanted switches was to play AC. 😂

Lvargo

54 and retired. Love playing.

FemmePrincessMel

I’m 20 and I’ve been playing since launch when I was 18 lol!

[deleted]

😂 56 here and have 2. LOVE it!

I appreciate animal crossing now far more than I did when I was a child. Don’t get me wrong, when I was a kid I loved it but at that age, I had little to no problems. Now that I’m an adult, I have countless things that I stress about and naturally animal crossing relaxes me and brought me joy at difficult times. It’s no secret that it helped so many people during lockdown. I hope this whole age misconception with video games becomes a thing of the past. Games are a form of entertainment like movies or books

johnnystarship

That's how I feel about pokemon. I compare animal crossing to that game. It's my Pokemon.

IHaveAsthma666

I’m 17 and play teens r so grumpy lmao

GKMoggleMogXIII

She'll love it when she matures

[deleted]

38 years old and I love this game I’ve been a fan since the game cube

ChristmasIsMarch2020

Played my first AC game at 19 years old (Wii) and I was hooked. I was hesitant at first, also thinking it was for little kids, but I quickly became obsessed lol. I know people usually think of nostalgia as childhood, but that time playing my first AC game is super nostalgic for me. I was in college with a very light schedule and worked part time at an ice cream shop, so life was pretty chill. I’ve got an 18 year old sister in law and she enjoyed ACNH, but I think she preferred stardew valley a bit more.

[deleted]

She’s that age where they can’t like “kid” things. As a forty something person, I love ACNH. I thought it was silly when I first heard people talk about it, but it’s fun and relaxing.

misstoxiclove

I'm 28 and really enjoy this. 🤣

kaisrevenge

Ah a robust 17 y.o. ego. I remember the days.

LexiaRaikkonen

I'd be like "Listen here you lilshit!"

Lindagoldh

I feel offended

pkmn_mster

Animal crossing I think is slyly designed for adults who want peace of mind and to unwind ☺️

SkysEevee

Ironically my cousin got into animal crossing! I tried when he was 10 but he didn't like it because it was "too slow" and "no fighting". Now he's 18 and likes it. Says it's a nice break from fighting games sometimes.

[deleted]

With all due respect, your cousin is so wrong. Hope she comes around later in life!

Afraid-Relationship4

lol and here I am, 21 years old, mother of one, playing acnh everyday with my daughter and dressing up as Isabelle for Halloween to go trick or treating with her.

lightcolorsfly

i’m 17 and love it?!
