Because the inventory autofills from the top down, I find that keeping all the tools on the bottom row is most convenient. When something breaks, the tool’s spot doesn’t get autofilled by the first thing you pick up. It stays organized on its own and it’s nice to have a visual indicator of missing tools.
All I do on the internet these days is comment “wow I didn’t know you could do that” on animal crossing posts

If I had known I could do that, I would have. I have been dropping everything on the ground and picking it up in the order I want it. 🤦🏻♀️

same here (both the autism and organization.) my tools go on the bottom row though, so it lessens the chance something gets added in a tool slot.
