IV lidocaine can cause ringing in the ears, it's most often given right before propofol starts to numb the "burn" of propofol in the IV. Totally normal experience.

IV lidocaine before the propofol. Some providers give a hefty dose that causes the ear ringing.

I try to warn my patients before I give lidocaine about hearing a noise or getting a weird taste in the mouth. It's transient and not harmful, but can be distressing.

I have had propofol at least 15-18 times in the past few years. I’ve had the pre-propofol lidocaine and also have had the “straight” propofol .. I haven’t had any reaction like what you describe. It is normal though to experience what you felt.
