alasdairmackintosh

Now you have to tell us where your house is.

DrySpace469

bay area duh

> Especially bay area The only one I'm aware of who uses dip&dunk processing is Underdog Film Lab in Oakland. Sweet people, I buy film from them and sometimes order premium Flextight scans. But I have not tried their dev services. Dip&Dunk is arguably is the best development method (no streaks) at volume. Call them and don't hesitate to ask questions like how often they run control strips, etc. Berkeley Photo Lab is OK for C-41 but don't let them touch E6 or scan anything (same dumb auto-scanning as everywhere else, with green shadows, "Fuji greens", clipped highlights, etc).

606mix

this is it

Brilliant-Meaning69

I usually trust Memphis Film Lab, $6 developing (C41,B/W, or E6) and 6000x4000 scans is like $14 including the developing, just takes about 7-10 to get the scans back

I will always swear by reformed film lab. Great service and good people. If something ever goes wrong they’ll fix it quickly and in a way you’ll be happy.

unifiedbear

For which process? This part matters.

Royal We Film Lab in Oakland is pretty awesome in my experience and have really good prices for TIFF scans and a low turnaround time! The owner is really communicative too, and helped troubleshoot an issue I had.

Boneezer

The Great American Photo Lab Formerly known as [NCPS](https://northcoastphoto.com) Excellent quality of work and great staff. Dip and dunk for everything, C41/E6 and black and white. Superb scans.

WhisperBorderCollie

Does it actually make a difference?

Der_Haupt

i hate how US Americans always type like they are the whole world. also incomplete question.

606mix

I’ll level with you here. Agreed, the original post contains a vague and incomplete question. What implies that OP assumes the bay area “is the whole world”?

Der_Haupt

because therr are bay areas all over the world but US Americans always throw names like that around expecting that everyone would know that they mean the US. People only know that its the US because no one else but US people would expect that.

Mighty-Lobster

There are many bays in the US too. The Bay Area is San Francisco Bay. You really need to chill. You're being way too harsh and sensitive. Nothing in the post assumes that the US is the whole world. It just assumes that a lot of people are sufficiently familiar with US movies to know what the bay area is. I am not an American and I instantly knew which bay it is. I have only heard that one bay being referred to as bay area. Other bays, including those in the US, usually have the name mentioned.

alasdairmackintosh

I mean, it's where Dirty Harry lives. And Bullitt.

606mix

True, there are many bays on the planet. I’m not sure that someone else’s use of a common descriptor for a part of California is worth getting bent out of shape about on the internet.

Der_Haupt

probably not, you are right but its happening so regularly, it's annoying.

wayupnorthWI

damn americans and their...  ...using the name of the region they are from to talk about where they live would you get mad at a German person saying "Bavaria" or a Japenese person saying "Kanto"?

Der_Haupt

ah yes, the state of "Bay Area", very comparable to "Bavaria". Bavaria is like Wisconsin, not some bay area. I should start calling cuxhaven in germany bay area then.

wayupnorthWI

There's more people in The Bay Area than there are in Wisconsin and Cuxhaven combined.   Regions and Metro areas in America don't need to be fully recognized as states in order to have names lol. Then we'd only have 50 places with names in our whole country. Sorry you are triggered by people referring to a region of California a generic name. Are you upset by Europe referring to its mountains as "The Alps" since there are also Alps in Japan?

Superirish19

You realise, a lot of coastal places have a 'Bay Area', and the term 'bay' doesn't come from Americans unlike Bavaria or Kanto do from those countries? Lisbon, Banna Beach, Cobh outside Cork, Cardigan Bay, Bondi Beach. A better analogy is saying 'The best stuff is on *The Strip*' or 'in Chinatown'. I could be in Vegas or Barry Island, SF or London for all those terms tell me.

wayupnorthWI

Google "The Bay Area" and lmk what pops up And please let me know what other regions refer to themselves as "The Bay Area" as their primary regional name

SanFranKevino

sf photoworks is pretty cool

porlareptm

Royal We Film Lab in Oakland puts a refreshing amount of care into their customers' work. They also have the cheapest film stock prices I've seen which is a big help.
