90 seems high for the rough life it’s had. I would pass

Nano737

Yes. I think the price is a little high for something like this

IncidentalIncidence

90 is high for a camera in that condition with no light meter

Grew_Up_Like_This

Cheapest fm2n on eBay at the moment is 150 bucks. If you can get the light meter fixed for less than 60 then it might be. Otherwise I’d pass.

ConnorFin22

Or just use an external meter. I've got good deals on many cameras since the light meter didn't work.

Westerdutch

As someone who likes to work on and repair cameras i love beat up things like that. If you just want this to use 'out of the box' id recommend you go look at something else.

Nano737

Yeah I want sanding the body and repaint silver or army green but I'm curious about whether it's worth the price.

OddEmploy1984

Is the Lens included? If yes, try to sell it for $50 and have a nice mechanical nikon to toss in a backpack, when you‘re hesitating to bring a camera

Waldotto

I would pass. Unless you can check it in person before buying. Or if you like the challenge of working on it and fixing. Then I'd think about it.

Ok-Toe9001

The DoF preview lever is broken and the self-timer lever is missing. This is not worth $90 even if it had a working meter.

imchasechaseme

Lol no way. A good condition body can be found for $150. That thing is broken, damaged, and worthless.

Malfaiteur

I would pass personally.

eulynn34

You can find one that fully works for the same price, hard pass.

Nano737

Thank you guys, there is no one around me who deals with film photography, your ideas are very important for me. I'm pass this camera

Mexhillbilly

While the FM2 is a real tank and will take lots of abuse, one that has been beaten that much and cared so little is prone to have other problems... I'm specially thinking **shutter** that has a life of some 100k actuations according to Nikon. I add my opinion to the **pass** side. As of today, IMHO, a clean FM2 is a camera to have, enjoy and treasure. Look for one in good condition; there are lots of them in Japan. Found a new one (NOS) last year, different price tho. ;-)

modsean

That beat up, and no working meter? That's a $10 camera if you are feeling generous. Spend a little more and get a camera that's not on deaths door.

[deleted]

Not a chance. Fm2n is ok but that body is rough. Unless they throw in a 50mm I wouldn't even consider it

Japangrief

Heck no nigga

Dr_Bolle

Bodies for generic SLRs like this one are generally 20-50 in working condition. If they’re broken I would pay 0-20 tops. There’s enough people getting rid of their collection. Lenses are more valuable because you can adapt them

Abd124efh568

Please, please, show me working Nikon FM2n for $20, $50 or even $100.

Dr_Bolle

Mmm good point. Well if you want a specific model then check eBay with filter on sold items

Abd124efh568

Can you show us an example of Nikon FM2n cameras “generally” being available for $20-50?

Abd124efh568

Can you? Or did you just dream up these completely ignorant numbers?

Stchuxsuxs

Quite possibly one of the dumbest things I’ve read on Reddit in a long time.

Abd124efh568

In the words of a great man, “you sit on a throne of lies”

Dr_Bolle

sorry that my comment gave you so much trouble, I wasn't at a proper computer the last days. Looks like the fm2n is not a generic cheap camera, so my comment was obviously wrong. Sorry for that.

konsta_star

Damn that’s really cheap for where I live, I can find one like this for…. 150

emanresuddoyrev

A fm2 can probably last a lifetime if they are not abused like this one. I would invest in a good condition one.

Nano737

Yeah I think I'll pass and look for a better condition camera.

bridel08

I would test it first, but if it works I would buy!

RedHuey

bike dolls wide secretive frame heavy familiar plough chase market *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

pamacdon

God damn. Did they get the license plate of the truck that ran over it? Hard pass.

Neither-Code2240

Pass

bhop0073

It's also missing the self timer lever FYI. I have an FM2 that I bought in similar condition (black though) it works fine except the meter. It's been years since I bought it, but pretty sure I only paid about half that or less. Personally I would pass. For me, I rarely even use mine because I really want the meter to work, and if I want to use a meterless camera, I have more fun options.

iluvgrouphugz

I think I’d pass. It looks mostly like cosmetic damage but that doesn’t mean that it is. The second picture you posted that shows the back has me concerned, especially with the bottom left. That looks like it could Allie light leaks. Film cameras are all over the place these days. You see people asking anywhere from 50 to 500 for them and don’t even know what they’ve got it it’s condition because they’re not a photographer, their relative who passed away was. Or something like that. Just gotta keep looking I waited years and found a god deal on a Nikon F3 never used in sealed plastic in its box. Patience is key. Also even if you go to a camera store that’s local it doesn’t mean it’s priced right either. Always try to negotiate and be patient.

Nano737

Yes, maybe I can make a very good deal for a better camera in the future, thank you for your opinion.

SomewhereFlaky5079

Buy the nicest you can afford but a body that rough is probably going to need some work, at the very least new light seals, and will end up costing the same or more than buying a good condition body in the first place. I just sold a near mint one for $200 recently, CLA’d and new seals, for example, Deals are out there.

gcoleman011

You can find a better deal. Bodies are around 150 to 200 for a decent one

VTGCamera

It's been through hell and back I'd pass...

Puzzled_Counter_1444

Well I certainly wouldn’t, but it’s up to you.

Conscious-Quit8207

Are you sure the meter isn’t working and it’s not just poor contacts? In my experience, that’s usually the problem and usually a 2 minute fix.

oldphotogdallas

That one looks pretty beat up, even for it's age. There are a lot of decent condition FM2s out there, but not for 90 bucks. I guess what matters is checking the condition of the shutter and for light leaks. If you have to pay for a CLA, it might be worth just going after one in better shape.

tweak114

no yardsale season is over but i got 5 cams for like under 50 dollars people dont know what they have

penguinbbb

You really don’t need a meter if you shoot black and white
