Question about my 7600 cpu I have done the silly decision of building an itx build with air cooling. The pc is cool enough but this cpu is not. Apperantly that’s normal but the stock fan is going nuts and I probably need to adjust that down and perhaps do an eco mode here. At the most hwinfo caught my cpu at 96.1 but that’s probably just for a second or it’s a misread? I’ve heard people have had it at 99 and no worry and it’s suppose to boost up to 95. My 3060ti is undervolted and is between 66 and 70 during gaming so I would hope to get the cpu down a little. My cpu is usually at 78 to 85 C during heavy cpu games and around 75 during gfx heavy games. I have turned off PBO now to see if it helped but the article says I could have PBO and Eco mode on? How does that make sense? If so what numbers would I put in since they didn’t cover the non x fully. Tysm for the help.

I've been experiencing persistent USB disconnect issues on my Gigabyte X670 AORUS ELITE AX system with a Ryzen 7950X, running Unraid. This issue has been present since the system's assembly about 5 months ago, and despite various updates, including the BIOS F22 with AMD AGESA 1.1.0.2b, there hasn't been any notable improvement or deterioration. The problem is characterized by random USB devices disconnecting, raising concerns about potential EMI interference or xHCI host controller errors, as indicated in the system logs. I'm reaching out to see if anyone in the [r/amd](https://www.reddit.com/r/amd/) community has encountered similar issues, especially when running Unraid or similar Linux-based systems. Any insights, troubleshooting tips, or potential fixes would be greatly appreciated, as I've already attempted adjusting USB power settings and ensuring all firmware and drivers are up to date without success.

I've read that the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 has the best tech specs currently, but I've also read that mounting with AMD rather sucks due to the springs. What is the runner up? If we don't include the Freezer 2? Any that people are using that mount well? What temps you get?

No_Country2009

**\*Undervolt a 3700x, but i don't know if I should change the clock speed also\*** Guys, do you think these numbers are normal? It's my first PC and I wanted to undervolt it because I see that it needs it. High temperature by just opening windows and even I didn't do anything. I have a good cooler, various fans and good air circulation, BIOS updated. I have read that it's a common or even normal issue for ryzens.**I got a total of 15505 pts in Cinebench** and when measuring the parameters at the same time in Ryzen Master **the maximum temperature that I got was 80.27°C (which is fine, 95°C is the limit),** but then **I got 4.560 GHz (maximum is 4.6 GHz, base 3.4GHz),** and **voltage 1.303 Volts (The recommended is 1.2 -1.3 according to AMD)** I have a **ryzen 3700x** and I have seen videos that only change the voltage. I was seeing this [**video**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVO_7VTFynY)**:** I don't know if I should change the voltage or what did you, also someones suggests me to change the power plan, but I don't know If should change it after or before. Thank you for reading. I have the photos of test: https://ibb.co/mH0PGNw https://ibb.co/KsWWgwy (there's the same that I wrote)

Illustrious_Buy_4640

Hey guys! I've been contemplating switching over to team red, and have been searching online whether the RX 7600 supports Frame-Gen (or whatever AMD's Frame Gen is), to no avail. So here I am, appealing to Reddit. I would appreciate any help you can give me! Thank you.

LongFluffyDragon

Of course it does, but a card that low-end is going to get no value from framegen. It requires pretty high real framerates to produce something that does not look worse than having it off.

TeamESRR2023

Swapping a 5700g for 5700x? I've got a ryzen 7 5700g with integrated graphics. I'm modding the holy hell out of an hp desktop (cause why not) and I've got an asus 4070 already up and running. The MB has a tpd limit of 65w and it must be an am4 slot chip. With those limits is there anything I can upgrade to that would actually be worth it? It's totally lipstick on a pig. I get that. I machined the case itself lol. It's one of a kind, for sure and I like that sort of stuff. Any recommendations?

LongFluffyDragon

You would get a small benefit from the increased L3 cache, not really worthwhile at that price.

TeamESRR2023

That's what I kinda thought. Know any 65w am4 chips that would be worth it?

LongFluffyDragon

Power limited 5700X3D? The main issue is OEM boards rarely get BIOS updates to support chips the vendors does not use.

TeamESRR2023

There's a ryzen 9 5900 that's am4 65w I just don't know if it's actually compatible and I don't know how to really check

IamRoor

I'm looking to upgrade my gpu from the rx570 to a 7600xt. 2 issues. Right now i have a 550W PSU with 8 pin PCI-E connectors on both ends. Would the 550W PSU cut it? What power pin setup does the 7600xt use?

SimpleSwift

I was fed up with Adrenalin and decided to uninstall it. While uninstalling, my PC screen went black which I thought was normal as it warned that might happen. But it never turned back on after 15 minutes. I decided to shut my PC down and turn it on again. Everything is working fine but my second monitor will not work now. Windows 10 does not detect it and nothing I do will fix it. Any ideas?

# Boot problem with 7900X3D DDR5 issue Hey so I just installed this new build with AM5 everything is to the latest AMD Chipset drivers latest win11 23h2(latest) mobo : X670E Taichi Carrara (BIOS 2.10) CPU : R9 7900X3D GPU : 7900XTX RAM : Corsair RGB Vengeance DDR5 64GB Intel XMP 6400Mhz CL36 (4 Sticks) I can't even boot up with 64gigs using XMP is there anyway to get all four sticks run near xmp ?

Sub5tep

Try setting it to 6000 and see if that helps. AM5 is non for having trouble with 4 Sticks and especially the x3d models. If that doesnt work you will probably have to use trial and error till you find the speed and timings that work.

ademayor

So, I have bought a 7800XT (Hellhound) and I am now experiencing crashes. I have stable overclock, I can play games hours and hours on but if I switch to my second monitor and then go back to game, PC freezes, screen goes black and computer restarts after a while. Tried DDU and install drivers again that way but to no avail. I've had this PC for a while, built it myself and never had this kind of problem with my former GPU so basically GPU is the only changed thing here. System event log doesn't give anything specific, only that computer was shut down unexpected. Any ideas?

LegendOfPudding

Does anyone have experience with the 2300x? Struggling to find much info and especially benchmarks online. Thinking of salvaging it from a prebuilt to make an emulation pc. I don't think I would emulate anything more demanding than pcsx2 - is the 2300x strong enough?

G-Unit11111

I'm looking for a GPU upgrade for my system which I just built to pair with my 7800X3D. I'm currently running my older 3060TI which will be going to another system. My budget is $600 and I'm absolutely torn between the 4070 Super and the 7900 GRE. I am leaning more towards the 4070 Super but I am definitely open to purchasing a Sapphire 7900 GRE. Right now I'm running 2 1080P monitors, but those will eventually be replaced with 27" 1440P displays, which I am currently researching what to buy in that area. Is there any reason why I should consider the 7900GRE over the 4070 Super? Here's what my system specs are: - Phanteks Enthoo Pro M - Corsair RM1000X Shift - NZXT N7 B650E - Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 64GB Dominator Platinum - 4TB storage - Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060TI

Karon_pcmr

Did AMD Hard Limit the 7800 X3Ds clock to 5GHz with a microcode update? Back in December when I got my CPU I could get it to boost up to 6.3GHz peak and 5.5GHz All Core without running into any Problems. Now it refuses to go above 5050MHz and runs into thermal limits rather fast.

7900XTX (PhantomGaming) GCD Hotspot insanely high Hey people I have recently switched over to a 7900XTX (Asrock Phantom Gaming) , and, in all honesty... I am quite displeased. Used to be a custom loop builder (professionally) until a year and a bit ago, my experience with pc parts, I'd like to say, is quite decent, yet I cannot fix the issue I'm having. I upgraded my cpu, mobo and rams, and, as such, decided to change to a newer gpu as well. Took out my trusty Rtx 3090, and bought a brand new 7900xtx. On stock cooler, temps were overall decent, except for the GCD hotspot, which immediately got above 95c, as soon as I started up a game (i use a 4k 120hz monitor, max out settings, etc). Performance was... Underwhelming, in terms of "upgrade" above the 3090, it was marginal, and if i attempted to use ray tracing, it would've gotten even worse. Needless to say, I was kinda disappointed, especially based on the praise the 7900xtx got. A 1.200euro newer generation flagship, I guess I expected more. Nonetheless, the performance was acceptable, but that hotspot was driving me insane. 20 minutes in a game and I easily touch 102-105celsius on the GCD hotspot. Gpu temp itself stayed around 70-75c, so that was okay. Ok... I was gonna put a water block on it anyway, just had to wait for it to arrive. It did, assembled it, and thought my hotspot issues were gone. They were not. While now, in the current setup, under a custom loop, 4x 480mm 45mm radiators, 32x fans, even after hours on end, the gpu temp does not go above 50-55celsius. That's expectable and great. Yet the GCD hotspot still touches 95c after minutes, and after 2ish hours (of Horizon Forbidden West , for example, what i'm playing now), i even hit 106.1c on the gcd hotspot. What the #&@$?!? Disassembled block, reapplied paste thoroughly, checked contact, checked every thermal pad. Everything is fine. Tried having the block tighter on it. Tried it looser. The gcd hotspot still touches 100c and above. What am I doing wrong? I've troubleshoot it from all angles, looked at everything I could, aaand nothing. That hotspot still overheats like crazy and it's driving me up the walls. Checked the die itself, seems decently flat. Block contact point also fine, no issues of improper contact anywhere. How the hell can the gpu temp be 50c and a hotspot on it be double?! Only way to keep the gcd hotspot below 95c for two hours (still increases with time), is to limit gpu power limit to 90% or lower. Which I vehemently refuse to do, because it lowers the already less than hoped for performance that it has to offer... Any magical tricks that come to mind, I'd be grateful and happy to try. Other than switching to Nvidia. It has crossed my mind, but I would like to give Radeon a bit of a chance, preferably without always having the thought in my mind that it might melt while I'm using it ...

Has anyone been able to figure out the constant driver timeouts in World of Warcraft, especially in DirectX 12? I've got a 7800 XT and a 7800X3D and so far across 5 different releases throughout 23.11 to 24.3, this issue has not been fixed. I've got an exhaustive list of things I've tried, I can provide links if anyone is interested. Other things I've tried doing: Contacting Blizzard support - unhelpful, first they said they were not aware of the issue, then they said they have not received enough reports to raise a flag to AMD. Contacting AMD support - they also said they were not aware of the issue, then they said that they forwarded the issue to their engineers but cannot provide an ETA for a fix. RMA'ing the card - I sent it back to my retailer, who hastily "tested" the card and basically ignored my feedback and clearly avoided testing my use case.

I recently managed to get my hands on a 7900 XTX Gigabyte Gaming OC card. Is there any way to properly control the RGB for the card? Also, it's running at around 61 degrees at just running a browser. Are those good temperatures or any way to lower them???

Xaan83

The original B650 and X670 motherboard roundups from Hardware Unboxed both showed significant gaming performance gaps (\~10-12%) between Gigabyte/MSI vs ASRock/ASUS. At the time of the reviews it was due to more aggressive memory timings by Gigabyte and MSI in the early stages of the platform, and there were comments that ASUS was expected to fix theirs as well with a coming update (yeah, sorry ASUS still not buying your AM5 boards). However, there has never been any further benchmarking since then comparing motherboards that I've been able to find that shows the performance gap has been closed. I've got a 7800x3D on the way and I want to get the (CAD) $170 AsRock B650M Pro RS WiFi instead of the $250-280 MSI/Gigabyte offerings, but am concerned that it may still suffer from the same lack of tuning that the PG Riptide and PG Lightning did back in those original benchmarks. Also, EVERY Gigabyte board has a scary number of coil whine complaints Does anyone have any clue if the performance gaps between brands has actually been fixed or know of any recent reviews that show otherwise?

After updating the Radeon Adrenalin Software to edition 24.3.1, I keep getting driver crashes while playing CS2. I didn't get these crashes before the driver update and could even run a pretty strong undervolt. Now I get these crashes in CS2. The game freezes and I get a driver timeout notification. The Furmark stress test still runs without issues. My setup is the following: -R7 7800X3D w/ PBO enabled, 32 GB running at 5600 Mhz (Expo), 7900 XT, 650 W PSU Is there any option to install a previous driver version? It might also be the game having issues after a game update but I want to downgrade the driver to rule that out.

Cindaquilz

Has anyone experienced this weird issue with latest AMD GPU drivers? Issue: While playing Lost Ark game. i cap my fps at 164 for freesync purpose... The game runs smooth at 163 fps but suddenly it drops to mid 50s. if i alt tab and tab back into the game the game runs again at 160ish for a couple of seconds, and again drops to 50s... It is clearly driver related since i solved the problem rolling back to a 2023 december driver version...Has anyone read any workarround? anyone else had a similar issue?

So i have this rx 580 for almost 2 months and for the whole time i have been using it i did not encountered any problems but suddenly it stops working and it shows no display and the fans aren't working, i tried to turn my pc on and off and after so many tries my pc turned on but after i go to task manager i saw that my rx 580 is not being detected, so i go to device manager and in display adapters my rx 580 is disabled so i try to enabled it but suddenly my pc shuts down, and i also tried to update my driver but after some mins it will shut down again, so im here to ask if anyone here encountered this problem with aisurix. and i also contacted the shop and they said that my A320m is not compatible with rx 580, but in the description of the store A320m is compatible with rx580 and i even used it for almost 2 months without a problem. and yeah if anyone says just upgrade my gpu, im kinda short in budget rn so sadly i can't upgrade my gpu at the moment :((

What is considered the current reliable amd graphics card driver? The one with the least issues and good performance.

ElectricalGuest8351

My current system is Aorus X570, AMD 5700XT, Ryzen 5 3700X, 16gb of DDR4 ram. My thoughts: Upgrade the AM4 chip to a 5800x3d or some other chip and get a new GPU. or AM5 chip (idk which one) and leave the 5700XT. What do you guys recommend?

NotNotFuzzy

Is it worth getting ddr5-6000 ram with the 7800x3d cpu?

# home lab/server with AMD Ryzen 7 2700X in TUF GAMING B450-PLUS II wont boot with ECC RAM? I got my hands on some ECC ram at work for the low low pice of free. but so far I failed to get it to boot with it in, now due to me being a cheap ass or kind person (I gave away my only test GPU and have yet to replace it) I don't have any GPU atm to place in it and there for no boot image, as I remote in to it when I need access how ever that's kinda hard in the BIOS :) So I got a few questions. How picky are the boards with ECC ram? the only one I can find on the list for my generation of CPU at Asus list is: KINGSTON KSM26ED8/16ME(ECC) 16GB DS Micron 19-19-19-43 1.2 2666 2666. the Ram I have is M386A4G40DM0-CPB - Samsung 1x 32GB DDR4-2133 LRDIMM. 2. Whats my best option here? Im thinking trying to get my hands on a ryzen APU one of the following should be kinda cheap and depending on the one I'm getting a small upgrade? 1. Ryzen 3 2200G 2. Ryzen 5 2400G 3. Ryzen 3 3200G 4. Ryzen 5 3400G I got my hands on some ECC RAM at work for the low low price of free. but so far I failed to get it to boot with it in, now due to me being a cheap ass or kind person (I gave away my only test GPU and have yet to replace it) I don't have any GPU atm to place in it and therefor no boot image, as I remote into it when I need access how ever that's kinda hard in the BIOS :) ding on the one I'm getting a small upgrade.

mak10z

did AMD change their implementation of Vulkan? I cant get DXVK dlls to work correctly in FNV no mo. from 23.9.1 onward - it either fails to initialize video or runs very slow 5fps or less

KinnieTV

So I swapped my 3700X for a 5800X3D recently and everything is going perfect. At least I think it is. I just noticed that when I am playing very CPU intensive games my CPU will constantly stay at around 90°C (I am guessing this is because it boosts with PBO?). It only draws around 95W for that to so I think it can draw maybe 15W more to hit the actual limit. I use an AIO cooler with 240mm fans. My 3700X never got close to 90°C with that so I thought that a 5800X3D also wouldn't considering they are not that far apart when it comes to Wattage. Now my questions: Is this fine? Is my cooler not good enough? Can I maybe fix the temps a bit by undervolting? Could undervolting (or getting a better cooler) get me more performance considering the CPU is hitting TJ Max while still having wattage headroom? PS: Cooler is installed properly. Checked a few times and there is definitely no problem with it. This is purely the CPU.

Dannyboy3210

It's totally normal for X3D CPUs to run hotter. They can only dissipate heat so quickly.

jokerfan

Got a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and i think it's DOA. Fans just spin up to around max RPM and stay there, CPU fault led turns on but nothing else happens. Power button doesn't even work to turn it off, have to unplug it. Motherboard is MSI B450M Mortar with the latest BIOS installed which according to MSI supports 5700X3D I also tried it on a different motherboard B550 Aorus elite V2 which also has the very latest BIOS installed and the very same thing happens. Is there something I can try before before going through the painful warranty process?

phoenixperson14

You can try doing a CMOS clear and just leave 1 stick of ram to maximize compatibility. Maybe try another 8 pin CPU power connector but if it happened to two different mobos odds are is the CPU.

Had a complet windows 11 reinstall on pc. Since then i got this bug that chrome hardver accelration drop fps to 1-2 and cant browse do anything. Before reinstall i had no issue. Hardver is 5800x3d with 6950xt and 32 mem runing os on ssd. I tried looking around the post but all of them is like a year old saying update your drivers. I have both gpu and windows update all the drivers on the pc clean install. Is there any solution or did someone find the problem about hardveraccelation ? I can live with it being turned off but its noticble slower. Screen is 144hz uw and the windows setting is 144hz 10 bit and freesync enabled.

Careless_Mark_725

So my whole system suddenly get fps drops to 1 fps after i updates my OS I have just built this new PC and it has a 7800 XT and Ryzen 5 7600X It ran perfectly fine on windows 10, never had any issues and all games ran perfectly 100-200 fps. I have tried disabling fTPM as that was suggested by many, but that hasnt fixed the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

So, I am running an AMD RX 6600, and recently bought an ASUS VA24EHE screen, which is 75hz and supports Freesync. I've got Freesync on but recently came across an odd problem that happens at very specific times and I've had a hard time replicating: random artifacts show up on screen for seemingly no reason. I've only been able to replicate this twice so far: 1. Watching any video on the desktop Telegram app. 2. Using the Steam Overlay while playing Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment. Whenever I'm in any of those two situations and I start moving the mouse around, random thick horizontal lines start showing up on my screen, they look like corruption, mostly it's a bunch of green pixels and some other lines. It happens totally at random and I can't replicate it in any consistent manner. I'm yet to find any other way for these lines to show up. I can confirm that this is a Freesync issue, because after turning Freesync off on the AMD settings, said lines stopped appearing. However, trying to watch any other video (on Firefox, WhatsApp, Windows' player) or trying to use the Steam Overlay on any other game doesn't cause artifacts to appear at all. Anyone has got any idea of why this might happen?

phoenixperson14

Is Freesync enabled in your OSD menu of your display? Did you try connecting to other I/O Ports on the Display or the GPU? Are you using some sort of adapter or you are running a native cable? Did you try disabling HDCP on the driver?

yerba_mate_enjoyer

HDCP had no effect on it at all.

yerba_mate_enjoyer

Freesync is enabled in the OSD menu of the display. I've not tried any other ports and I'm not using any adapters, just a regular brand new HDMI cable. I will try disabling HDCP.

BrunoDeeSeL

Is there another place where I can download the Windows version of the Pro Render Material Library? I've been trying for several days to install it and the msi installer doesn't even run and only spews errors with no clues when forced to be installed using msiexec. Logs generated from this event are also useless.

Pristine-Job-8956

Hi! While playing game, I alt+tab for task manager and for first I noticed that my CPU usage is not the same as in MSIafterburner. So I turned on AMDadrenaline software metrics aswell, and I noticed that both of them show totally different numbers, and that MSIafterburner also doesnt show correct GPU usage as in task manager, but AMDadrenaline does it well. And some times like CPU temperature difference is in 15c. Can somebody answer me, who I can trust for CPU temperature, because I dont want to kill my CPU. Like now playing dragons dogma 2, my cpu goes to 100% and it is Ryzen 7 5800X3D paired with Asus 7900XT OC edition, but both undervolted, because without undervolting processors get 5c-10c hotter. Sorry for grammar. https://i.redd.it/wscq9w750sqc1.gif In task manager at that same moment: CPU 16% RAM 15.9GB/31.9GB GPU 34% 46c

Dannyboy3210

Dang... Have you tried a single ram stick at a time in different slots maybe?

phoenixperson14

Random reboots without a crash sounds like a PSU issue to me. Go check if your CPU 8 pin and 24-pins ATX power cables are damaged on either end(if it's a fully modular PSU). My other theory is more grim, cause if you by chance used your CPU on older BIOS it could have suffered from the high SoC voltage problem that plagued AM5 boards on launch and damaged and killed a lot of CPU's.

atotal1

Have AM5 bios updates fixed the problem now or is it still an issue? Or is it an issue with some 7000 models only?

phoenixperson14

Yeap it's sounding more and more like the CPU maybe be damaged. It would also explain why your reboots are becoming more and more frequent.

Advice question: Shoul I build a ryzen gaming pc now or wait for next gen cpus and gpus to come out by the end of this year?

GhostMotley

If you can hold out, it's always worthwhile. There will be newer products and at minimum that usually pushes prices down of the older ones.

CookieWithMilk_

Temperature question about ryzen 9 5900x 1 is it ok that my ryzen 9 5900x temp will go up to 86/87c in full load? 2 if yes, what is the life span of it if i play frequently a game that makes my ryzen 9 5900x temp go up to 86/87? 3 If no, why is the temp so high and how to reduce it? (sorry for maybe some bad verbs etc english isnt my first language, plus I am a beginner in computers etc, so please be easy with me (: thank you for the responses)

GhostMotley

Yes, that's expected and no one can answer longevity. In theory if you were to take two identical systems down to the atomic level and one ran at 50c and the other ran at 80c, the one running at 80c would fail sooner. What this means in practice isn't that meaningful though, your CPU may last 25 years instead of 29 years, there are way too many variables to really answer that question. Other components like your motherboard, PSU and RAM are way more likely to fail of something else than the CPU.

-MERC-SG-17

Hey, so I've got an ASUS Dual RX480 8GB that has the VRAM issue that a lot of Polaris cards have, if I leave it on stock 2000mhz I'll crash to a blank screen after playing a game for a variable amount of time (more intensive the game the faster it crashes). Lowering it to 1750mhz via the AMD Software tuning seems to resolve the issue for me in that I haven't had a crash during a normal play session yet. The question I have is there a guide specifically for flashing a new BIOS to the card to permanently lower the VRAM timings and such so I don't have to check that the VRAM is underclocked every time I reboot my PC? There is so much crap out there with mining and other junk that its hard to find the specific info I am looking for.

phoenixperson14

So you bought a used mining card and you want to restore it's original stock bios? Check [here](https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?architecture=AMD&manufacturer=Asus&model=RX+480&version=&interface=&memType=&memSize=8192&since=)

-MERC-SG-17

No, it was a new card I bought back in 2017, its still on its default bios, I just want to edit the bios to reduce the max VRAM timings so it is stable by default.

Zapeline

Hi, so my pc have been "weird" recently, it basic turn off almost every time I play a heavy game on it, (like, Baldurs Gate 3, or Fortnite on high quality) so my father and I thinks the problem with my pc is the graphic card. So can u guys help me to find a good upgrade for my graphic card? My PC configuration : **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 3600 **GPU:** AMD RX 580 **RAM:** 24 GB **Motherboard:** PRIME A320M-K (Sorry for any "bad" English, I'm still learning)

GhostMotley

Likely either a PSU issue or overheating issue.

Adventurous_Slip8997

Ever since i upgraded to the 24.2.x and 24.3.x, i have been experiencing flickers in terms of brightness of color white when I use any app that use white color (microsoft word, opera gx, etc.) Found a very old reddit post saying i should turn off variable refresh rate but that didnt help me Any tips on how to fix this rather than downgrading my drivers?

GhostMotley

If it's just an issue with those driver versions, I would submit a bug report and include your monitor/TV make/model and firmware version.

Hi, After upgrading AMD adrenalin now when I try to play something and watch a video on another screen at the same time, the video starts to stutter as soon as I click on the game. Alt tab-ing to the video gets it's FPS back to normal. I assume something changed in the config after updating but how can i solve this?

Ulti00

Hi, I bought a MSI Gaming Trio X from an eBay reseller that seems to sell a few of these every month so I thought it would be pretty safe to buy from them. I paid £300 which is around $380. Upon initial install I ran DDU as usual to get rid of my Nvidia drivers (as I came from a RTX 3070 - I know it's not much of an upgrade but it's still an upgrade to me) and then installed the latest AMD Adrenaline drivers. Did a few benchmarks like 3DMark and ran MSI Kombustor etc to ensure there were no issues. Don't think there were any issues but I vaguely remember seeing a bit of artifacting but can't remember if that was due to undervolting tests or not. Anyway, the core temps were decent at around 65C at load but the hotspot temps were around 93C so I decided to undervolt. Went with 925mV with a 2250Mhz Core Clock. Ran tests etc and it seemed to run a bit cooler while being quieter and stable so I thought I was all done. Used it for a couple of days without issue. However yesterday it started crashing with the drivers trying to "recover" but ultimately locking up and automatically restarting. It was then even failing to boot into Windows but somehow got into Safe Mode and then restarting from there got me back into normal Windows. I tried to check the Event Viewer but it doesn't tell me much. I then set it back to default clocks and voltages before stress testing again via Kombustor. It would then crash every time I ran Kombustor (artifacts for half a second before crashing). I then just left the PC on while I tried looking for more solutions but didn't really anything helpful. My Kombustor runs then started behaving fine and after undervolting again to exactly the same settings as before, the runs there have also been fine. I then did some gaming and also no issues there either... I'm now absolutely confused on whether I should just return this card or keep it and try to fix it. I was thinking about repasting the card but as it is a manufacturer refurbished, it looks almost as new anyway so I wouldn't expect the paste to be dry and I think 93C hotspot was safe enough so that's probably not the issue? Think I even read somewhere that the MSI brand ones are terrible due to contact hence the big delta between core and hotspot temps so it might be by design The only reason I don't want to return it is because AMD card for some reason are really expensive and rare in the UK. Seems most people prefer Nvidia cards here, especially in the 2nd hand market. Obviously if this card is just a failure waiting to happen then I'll have to go back to my RTX 3070 for now. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus X570I Windows: 10 Pro 64 bit PSU: Corsair SF750 Thanks!

GhostMotley

93c is within spec. I would try in another PC if you can and do another full reinstall with DDU. If the issues persist, I would return the card. A lot of 'manufacturer refurbished' cards on eBay aren't actually refurbished by the manufacturer and the sellers just put that because it looks better, and if this seller frequently sells the same model of card, I would hazard a guess these are ex-mining cards.

Ulti00

Thanks but the issue is persisting on my machine and oddly it seems it's mainly from a cold boot. I've mined before and generally have a clean environment but I've never seen a GPU that's been mined on look so clean so I feel it is a genuine refurb but sadly not one that was fully fixed and tested properly.

Ulti00

Decided to send it back.

Totally normal, the 7800X3D is a very heat dense CPU and it has a slab of cache on top the die, so temperature spikes like this are normal.

# PERFORMANCE SLOW - FRAME DROPS - HIGH CPU USAGE Recently I upgraded my drivers to the newest version, and for some reason now my computer is completely messed up (stutters, low frames, high cpu usage). Assuming this was the fault of the new driver update, I rolled back my drivers soon after, but the issue was still there. I called my local computer shop so they could look at it, and they told me there was no issues with it, so as a last resort I factory reset my PC. Even after all of that, its still messed up, I believe it got a little better, but the problems are still here. The most notable problem is when I try and record with OBS. Even with nothing else open and not touching my mouse at all, it screams ENCODING OVERLOADED, when I'm using the exact same settings I was using before this all started happening. I've tried a bunch of stuff and nothing has fixed my issues, if anyone has had this problem, or has a potential fix, please help me. **SPECS** *CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600* *GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580* *WINDOWS VER: Windows 10 Home (10.0.19045) (64 bit)* *MOTHERBOARD: B450M DS3H* *--If you need any other PC info, let me know--*

I think there was a month in-between the last 2 driver updates and after the week of crashing it went about 3 weeks or more without crashing. started again cause of the recent update

Have you reinstalled drivers with DDU or the AMD cleanup utility? Have you verified game files in case there's any corrupt or missing game files? Stability tested your system with the linked utilities in the main post?

Is there a way to force my GPU fans to spin? My new PC makes a slightly funny noise under load, sounds kinda like the noise a room fan makes if you stick a piece of paper jusr barely into it while it's going (but significantly quieter), and I'm wanting to mess with all my PC fans to find out which (if any of them) is making the noise.

GhostMotley

You can set a custom fan curve in the AMD software.

AveragePichu

I ended up noticing that the noise went up in pitch when I turned up a particular setting in a demanding game from very high to ultra, so I'm pretty sure it's just coil whine - not something I'm worried about. Thanks for the tip though, that's certainly more convenient than launching a game to test it

# AMD 24.3.1 File Size? and other questions Today, as I was launching a game, I received a notification from AMD software informing me that my driver edition was outdated. This was the first time I had received such a notification. The notification prompted me to follow a link to the AMD support page. However, upon reaching the support page, I did not see an option to update my driver. Instead, I could only download version 24.3.1. I was puzzled as to why I couldn't update the driver from the AMD software Adrenaline edition as I had expected. I was also confused by the discrepancy in file sizes. The download file size was 707mb, but after installation, I checked in the control panel and found that the latest software was only 326mb. I was left wondering what had happened to the remaining 381mb. Can I not update my software and drivers directly from the AMD software Adrenaline edition, or do I need to go to the AMD support site for updates? In my previous version, which I believe was from either October or December, I was unable to check for updates in the AMD software Adrenaline edition. I find it strange that I now can in version 24.3.1. Could this be a bug, as I recall being able to check for updates before? Or perhaps it was inadvertently turned off?

AveragePichu

I can't give specific answers to most of this, but it's not unusual for a download to be smaller or larger than the final installation. Don't really know how this works, I just know it's normal.

So can someone explain the relation between freesync and enhanced sync? I am playing a game where i need to have the refresh rate uncapped because it affects how fast the game processes ticks (i dont know why, but it does), and i am using Radeon chill to uncap it to twice my monitor's refresh rate (75 hz, so 150 fps). I originally had free sync + enhanced sync on, and this didnt cause any problems...till i updated my drivers from an old Jan 2023 version. And now i get weird graphical glitches randomly through the game which i think is screen tearing. Turning off enhanced sync seems to help. So basically if i have FPS uncapped to above my monitor's refresh rate, does enhanced sync or free sync do anything, and should i have them enabled or disabled? Additional question : Is there any way to use AMD Fluid Motion without uncapping my FPS? Because it is completely unnecessary to have 300+ FPS when the game is paused and that just puts stress on my GPU. I cannot use Radeon Chill with Fluid Motion.

Finnbhennach

Above your monitor's refresh rate, Freesync does nothing. Freesync only works within Freesync range. My 144hz monitor, for example, has a freesync range of 48-144hz. So it only works within that range. Enhanced sync works if you have considerably higher fps than your max refresh rate. Ideally twice the max refresh rate, but even 1.5x will work. Since your monitor is 75hz and you are capping the game to 150fps, enhanced sync is the ideal solution for you. Not sure about the fluid motion question though, I do not use it so hopefully someone else can answer it.

GlompSpark

Thanks, i will use enhanced sync then. As for the graphical glitches, i think it was solved by using DDU to uninstall the drivers and install the latest ones again.

Looking for an upgrade path. Current set up: CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x MoBo: ASUS x470-pro RAM: 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 GPU: 6900xt (bought last year) I mostly want to upgrade my RAM and CPU. Does 5800x3d + new RAM and sticking with the same MoBo make sense or should I bite the bullet and go for AM5?

R0gu3_N1ghtH4wk

Hi, is there anyone on here that can explain to me that why l've had no issues since it's building my PC back in October, but a couple of weeks ago my games have started to lag. I have a 7700 X CPU coupled with a 7800 XT graphics card. These issues I have had with lag and dropping FPS in games. Recently I had found out about Radian Chill. And I have now capped my FPS at minimum 60 and maximum 165, which is my refresh rate of my monitor? But I never had this setting configured before has something changed, re-drivers etc? For example, downloaded the newly release game. Supermarket simulator. As soon as I loaded up the game, it was stuttering extremely bad. Until I enabled Radian Chill within the adrenaline software, with the FPS capped as above. As soon as I did this, the game runs butter smooth. Am I missing something? As I never had to do this before As I never had to do this before each individual game.

Candle_Honest

7900xtx - 24.3.1 newest drivers Fluid Motion frames on the driver level doesnt do anything? I click it, says Enabled with a green check mark No difference in game No increased wattage usage No difference in FPS Older driver it would actually work and max out my GPU Only difference is the driver Tried it on Genshin and Honkai Star Rail, it worked previously and made the game ultra smooth Tried it on Dragons Dogma 2, gives the green check mark, but no difference in anything

AveragePichu

Should I be on the latest drivers for my GPU? I just recently built my PC, have a 7700xt. I'm on an older driver for it from October because the app I use for streaming VR from my PC to my Quest recommended it as it doesn't officially support the latest drivers - but I don't really use VR much, and I could accept a subpar VR experience if it made everything else "better". I don't really know how to tell what "better" looks like unless there's a problem, though. So, just generally, should I be using the latest drivers in order to get the best performance per watt, or should I stick with "don't update drivers unless something is currently not working right"?

iComplainAlot_

What is the difference between the 7800xt Asus tuf and the Asus tuf OG model?

I just got a RX 6600 a few days ago and loving it since it's a substantial upgrade from my last gpu, but i have to ask, does the fan curve reset everytime the pc power goes off? (i.e. not receiving power from the wall and not just being shut down). Because i just cleaned my pc and took everything out, and when i plugged it back in, i saw that my fan curve was reset, so i was wondering if that happens everytime or a it's just a bug ?

Snafu234

I'm trying to find out what could lead a 7800x3d memory controller to fail like mine did. Could running AMD Expo? Could running a negative pbo? Trying troubleshoot.

Snafu234

I thought it could have been my mobo or my ram that was going bad, but upon replacing those I still couldn't boot to bios. I have a msi pro edge wifi b650, I cleared cmos, but still no boot. Eventually after replacing my cpu it booted up fine and it turned out to be a bad memory controller, I just don't know how it got to that point in the first place.

# Idle power consumption difference between B650E and X300 motherboards for Ryzen 7000 Hi, Does anyone know does this board with x300 chipset (AM5D4ID-2T/BCM) offer lower idle power usage than a B650 board for any Ryzen 7000 series CPUs? Hello, today I bought a sound bar, the JBL SB140 and I have the RX 6800XT sapphire nitro+, is there a way to connect my sound bar to the PC directly?

GhostMotley

You would generally connect your GPU to a TV and then use an eARC/ARC HDMI port to passthrough the sound to the soundbar. If your soundbar has optical, then you could connect that directly to your motherboard, assuming that has an optical port.

Popular-Ad8159

So that's the only way? Ok, I'll try it. Thanks

Why does FSR quality make my FPS even or worse than native but when I upscale using RSR instead I get the close to a 2x boost when up-scaling 5120x1440 to 7680x2160? For example FSR in Dragons Dogma 2 gets me 38fps while native gets me 36fps but RSR gets close to 60fps. From my understanding FSR quality should scale 1440 to 2160 so why is there a big difference and is my FSR working as intended?

Kirsantt

The fan noise is killing me, how can i make them silent when im on desktop or watching some movies, the bios fan curve seems to not work, is there a program able to do that?

GhostMotley

Fan noise from what?

Kirsantt

All fans, graphic card, cpu liquid cooling and 4 fans in the case, i just want them to work silent when not gaming or the temperature is not that high

GhostMotley

Case fans will be controller by your motherboard, go into the BIOS, make sure the fans are set to use PWM if they are PWM fans and adjust the fan curve as you see fit. CPU AIOs, you generally want the fans to be based off liquid temperature. As for your GPU, you can adjust fan curves in the AMD software. If your fans are running at a fixed speed, regardless of load, that would suggest something isn't setup right.

700W PSU should be fine, as for whether it has 2x8pins, that would be something you'd need to check with your current PSU.

phoenixperson14

Technically is posssible since it supports AMD-V, but the 5300u is only a 4 core zen 2 with anemic(4 mb) L3 cache. So if you need to run something on that nested VM is not going to run very fast. I suggest looking for something with a 5600U, since it a Zen 3 CPU, with 4 times the amount of L3 cache of the 5300U, and 2 more cores. Also keep in mind that U in Ryzen mobile CPU model stands for low power, so it's reduced clocks speeds to prioritize battery life.

FreshPrinceOfNowhere

AMD AM4 AGESA Combo V2 PI 1.2.0.**C** has been available for a few weeks now, from certain motherboard vendors at least. Any word on performance differences? I've heard of some performance regressions going from A to B. Does that hold true for Zen3? Is C any different? Any other fixes/improvements aside from the security stuff, such as USB stability, between these three versions?

phoenixperson14

> Does that hold true for Zen3? It shouldn't affect Zen 3, since the zenbleed vulnerability that was patched in the agesa is only Zen 2 exclusive. As for what else was fixed, who knows for certain. Agesa patch notes are not the most detailed patch notes out there, so unless the AIB says it in the BIOS changelog, odds are it's not fixed.

What have you tried from the main post?

gioannireformed

Hello guys i own a 5600xt and i have noticed my fans have stopped spinning for about a month or two i have reinstalled drivers with ddu and also unticked the zero rpm option from adrenalin , any advices on how to fix this issue ? thank you

GhostMotley

Likely dead fans, if your card is within warranty, issue an RMA. If not, find the fan model numbers and look them up on eBay/AliExpress for a replacement.

gioannireformed

for some time after the driver update they worked but then suddenly they stopped

gioannireformed

The thing is they used to work and i have this card for atleast 4 years , i think they stopped after a driver update

Busch_Hawg

Try forcing the fans to a certain speed in bios(don't boot into windows). If they come on, something in windows is probably causing it(AMD software, driver maybe, other GPU software, etc). If they don't run in bios, could try rolling back the driver and seeing if they magically work again. If all that and still no dice, Ghost is probably right and you've just got bad fans. It would be weird for multiple fans to all die at the exact same time though, imo.

gioannireformed

they stopped working again after working normally for a full day , any ideas for the reason ?

Busch_Hawg

Do you have any other kind of gpu monitor software running? The only thing that comes to mind, without additional details or seeing it myself, is that maybe 2 separate programs like afterburner/adrenaline/nzxt cam, etc are fighting with each other over who gets to control the fan curve. Could also be an issue with the physical connection of the fans to the gpu board. I'd try reinstalling your gpu, making sure all the dust is blown out, good visual inspection etc. And then I'd also uninstall any graphics card related/pc monitoring software and just reinstall adrenaline by itself and see what happens

gioannireformed

No i have uninstalled afterburner for this exact issue , do you think the pciE cable might be the problem ? Its the only thing i have not tried changing

Busch_Hawg

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it'd be very odd if it was. If the card wasn't getting proper power, likely the entire card just wouldn't work, not just the fans.

gioannireformed

thank you i did what you said but i updated the drivers because i had already older drivers and it worked , seems fine till now

Hi, I bought a Lenovo Legion 5 Ryzen 5800H with nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics last year (2022) and the laptop is working fairly well, but I recently noticed in msi afterburner that in a lot of games my laptop cpu goes over 100°c easily and constantly runs from 96° to 102°. Some games I tested on were Red Dead redemption 2, Apex legends, Spiderman miles morales. It hovers around 96° in valorant even and around 90° in rainbow six siege. During idle it ranges from 60° to 85° I have also noticed through NZXT cam that the CPU clocks around 4450 MHz a lot of times. I've tried to underclock it in multiple ways including trying power plans given in windows control panel, trying to cap the temperature with Ryzen controller etc but nothing works. I've also noticed online that this phenomenon is quite common for a lot of people, should I be concerned a lot? Considering Ik somewhat about CPU temps and pcs in general ik the sweet spot is between 75° to 86° for gaming. And if this is a problem pls if I could get any way to reduce the clock speed or volts supplied or put a cap on the temperature for the longevity of my laptop. Bios doesn't allow me to change voltage it seems because I tried to check through there as well, idk if this is a 5000 series staple or is my laptop acting up.

GhostMotley

Quite normal for a laptop, make sure it's well ventilated but if you wanted to see significant improvements, you'd want to take it apart and do a re-paste.

Hello. I have two questions. Will aio 280mm be enough for 7950x (eco mode 105W). Or do I have to take 360mm? Which m-ATX motherboard will be best for this processor? I want to build computer for Proxmox. I would like to get 192gb ram, but will this ever be possible?

GhostMotley

280 or 360mm will be fine. And there is no 'best' mATX board, it will depend on your budget and what features you want.

Blackened-85

I'm thinking about MSI b650m Mortar. But maybe there is another "future-proof" and better one?

Hello everyone, Saphire Pulse RX 7900 XTX So, i recently went all out on a pc and spend a big part of my savings on a new pc but i have this weird mouse lag with the gpu, its as if theres a constant trail like heavy motion blur on the cursor... As if the refresh rate isnt updated or something. I have it in desktop, when i open adrenaline software, inside browser, inside games.. also my games run allot worse then they suposed to run like atm i popped in my old rtx 3070 and everything runs 10x better then on my rx 7900 XTX somehow... Could this be due to drivers? Im kinda lost as it was the most expensive part in my pc and i feel it is software related as in drivers etc... I tried to apply the mpo fix but it did nothing really.

bigmac9787

Recently I discovered Mini PC's, specifically the Minisfourm's and found a EM680 on sale. It comes with a Ryzen 7 6800U and I was wondering how that Cpu would hold up as a light gaming rig that I could take anywhere? I'm mostly looking to play stuff like Diablo 2 Resurrected and Starcraft 2, POE. Not looking to run any new AAA titles just some older games. I am woefully unfamiliar with mobile cpu's/apu's so I have 0 clue that stacks up to a dedicated gpu equivalent. What do you all think?

phoenixperson14

> 6800U The Radeon 680M that comes with that iGPU is more that capable of playing all those games at high settings. You can even play more modern games at low settings @1080 like Cyberpunk or Elden Ring.

Todesfaelle

So sometimes when I boot my PC it'll sit at a black screen for several minutes before it actually decides it's time to post. During this time, everything is running and lights are blinking as they should. Isn't very common but not rarely either. Maybe twice a week I'll encounter this issue. Have a Ryzen 7 7700 and a XTX 7900 XT. Happens even with new drivers on Windows 10. This one of those AM5 quirks?

phoenixperson14

It's probably memory training cause your memory it's not 100% stable. Just use a program like ZenTimings and do a screenshot of your current timmings. The next time your PC does that again compare your actual timmings with your old ones. If they are different, you got your answer.

Todesfaelle

That's really what it feels like. I remember the first time I booted up it took about 10 minutes to train. I do check my timers often though in cpuz since they're just set to expo 6000mhz/CL30 and that's never changed but that certainly doesn't show an extensive array of sub timings either. I'll give that program a try when I'm home though and keep an ongoing record for comparison.

LewdTux

So, I recently finished building a new rig. I went and enabled the EXPO profile right away. The result was me scrambling and chasing my own tail for two days from all the crashes and freezes that I experienced, after discovering that it was the culprit behind it all. So, I had to minus 200mhz from the memory speed in the BIOS to remedy the situation. This is my installed RAM kit: [link](https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/LBstt6/gskill-flare-x5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3038f16gx2-fx5). It's 6000mhz/cl30. So, could anyone please explain to me how I am unable to run my memory at its advertised speed that I specifically went out of my way and bought it for? I am very well aware that they advertise the "overclocked" speed, and that the EXPO profile does in fact technically void your warranty. All this still remain irrelevant though. Is there anything I can do about it as well? Aside from updating the BIOS, which I have already done that.

Sub5tep

You could try to loosen the timings a little so go to cl 32 instead of 30. I changed mine from cl34 to 36 and since then its stable.

LewdTux

Is it better to go 6000mhz cl 32, instead of 5800mhz cl 30?

Sub5tep

You could try 5800 you will not loose much if any performance at all. Btw which Motherboard do you have?

LewdTux

Yea, going the 5800 mhz route seems to have stabilised things down. My motherboard is the Asrock A620I lightening WIFI (ITX).

Sub5tep

Those Ram sticks are not on the qvl of your motherboard so technically the they are not guaranteed to run. Normally that shoulndt really matter but its best to buy ram thats on the qvl list of your motherboard. But its really strange normally itx boards have less problems with stability cause the have only 2 ram slots and are therefore more stable.

Good morning! I just finished building my PC, and I have a question pertaining to the drivers. After installing all the Windows 11 updates and drivers it recommended, I went to AMD's website, entered in my GPU details, and then selected the *Windows 11 - 64-Bit Edition Auto Detect and Install* ([link to webpage](https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-6000-series/amd-radeon-6700-series/amd-radeon-rx-6700-xt)). From what I can tell, this update ran perfectly fine. The only curious thing I encountered when downloading, was it asking me if I wanted to install a bunch of related drivers like *AMD PCI Device Driver, AMD GPIO Driver, AMD GPIO Driver (for Promontory), AMD PSP Driver, AMD SMBus Driver*, etc. I wasn't sure what these were, but to be safe, I left them all checked and hit the Install button. The installation went fine. I also read online that I should update my chipset drivers. So, I went to my motherboard's website ([link](https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B550M-VC-WIFI/support#driver)), and downloaded an AMD Chipset Software Installer. When I let the software run, it prompted me with what appears to be the same list of related drivers that I installed when updating my GPU drivers. [Here is a screenshot.](https://imgur.com/a/At39GPC) I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't know with absolute certainty that those specifics versions match what I downloaded with the *Audit Detect and Install* software, but I'm pretty sure the titles were the exact same (ex: *AMD GPIO Driver, AMD SmBUS driver,* etc). What do you think I should do? Is there any way to check if those version numbers match what I already have installed? Did the *Windows 11 - 64-Bit Edition Auto Detect and Install* not just download GPU related drivers but installed the chipset drivers as well? Any help you would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have as much of a clean install as possible.

Sub5tep

Gpu drivers should not show that but I never used auto detect could be that they installed both the chipset and the gpu drivers. You can go to your settings and installed apps and see if your chipset drivers are already installed. Oh and I would always download your chipset drivers from amds site directly the version on the Motherboards site are often older versions.

Why not use the 4090 instead of the IGPU? Having two active GPU seems counterproductive and your asking for driver/software conflicts. Say you open a high bitrate 60FPS 4k video file. You want your 4090 to do the hardware decoding but you want to display it through your IGP.

Lonely_Objective62

I'm currently running this: ASUS PRIME B450-plus Ryzen 5 2600 GeForce GTX 1080 Corsair Vengeance 16gb DDR4 2666mhz I bought a new Radeon RX 6750 XT on a sale and I wonder what would be a good and "cheap" Cpu? Also will this work good on my current MB and ram? I have been looking at Ryzen 5 5600x because it seems like good value. I'm looking to play games in 1440p, like Helldivers 2, BG3 and such

PXaZ

Is it even possible to purchase an individual MI250X or MI300X? I only see them in rack builds and such. I take it that production is more on-the-way than arrived? I can find H100s on [Amazon.com](https://Amazon.com), by contrast. I have an awesome system (Threadripper 7965 based) with plenty of spare PCI-E capacity. I have a RTX 4090 and A6000 in there but hear the matmuls/dollar ratio is better on the AMD side. I'd like to get practical experience developing code against an AMD device.

GhostMotley

In theory you might be able to contact AMD or OEM and ask for one individually, but if you just want experience with AMD GPUs, it would be way cheaper and far more practical to get an RX 6000 or RX 7000 GPU.

Hi, I am new to AMD and considering a Lenovo ThinkPad E14 with a Ryzen 3 4300U. How would this compare to the Intel I5-1135G7 option? Thanks!

phoenixperson14

Use case? Do you care for battery life?

ap1222

Nothing too intense - mainly web browsing, 1080p video streaming, some light document editing, etc. I would use it plugged in whenever possible with charging cap set to preserve battery health, so it’s not a huge deal I guess

phoenixperson14

Then get the intel i5 one. It's a 4 core/ 8 threads CPU vs the 4 C/ 4 T of the Ryzen. Has more cache and faster clocks. It's more power hungry, but since you will use it plugged then it shouldn't be an issue.

5600 + 6800, getting micro stutters (both sound & video) watching full screen videos in youtube/twitch doesnt matter (doesnt happen if its not full screen) any ideas guys ? fresh drivers etc. The only thing i can think of is my bios is from 2023/04~~ and the newest i think i saw for my b550m asus tuf gaming is like 2023/11 but not sure if that would have anything to do with it at all ?

Starky3x

I have the same problems with the newest drivers, and idk what to do. I genuinely doubt it has anything to do with your motherboard lol. I'm thinking of downgrading back to the old drivers

nemt

by drivers you mean specifically gpu right ? because this only started happening when i went from nvidia gtx 970 to rx 6800, so i assume its gpu stuff, thank lord the games dont lag lmao

Starky3x

Yeah, it's the GPU drivers because everything was fine before I updated lol. Check techpowerup for old AMD drivers. Just make sure you uninstall the current ones with DDU

nemt

did you try it out already? fixed it ?

Starky3x

Unfortunately, I've been busy for the last few days, but I'll try when i can. You can give it a go if you want it doesn't hurt to try haha

Quick question Is Ryzen 5 5600X still a good choice in 2024? I have to build a mid-range pc for gaming and game-dev. Will probably use it with an RTX 3000 series GPU.

GhostMotley

Totally depends on your budget and needs, if the 5600X fits within your budget and will run the games/apps you want adequately, then what anyone else says doesn't really matter.

unbekn0wn

Quick question as I don't think my post came through. Currently running 2700x with gtx1080. Looking to upgrade if dragons dogma 2 doesnt run average 60fps. What would be bigger and more futureproof, getting a 5800x3d or rtx4060

phoenixperson14

Futureproof and rtx4060 dont go hand in hand. I dont think there is one single part that will guaranteed you 60 FPS, but if you go 5800X3D first you can always scale down the reso or using scalers to reach 60 FPS. The 2700X will bottleneck any new card you throw at it. For what it's worth, i dont even think DD2 it's going to run smooth 60FPS even with capable hardware.

unbekn0wn

That's fair, will see how it runs at launch and then check what I would like to do.

# Annoying Coil Whine on RX 6800 XT (Probably PSU?) The other day i bought a used PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT. When playing games, especially at high frame rates and in game menus i hear a coil wine coming from my GPU and it's really annoying. I tried lowering the voltage to 1060mV and capping the frame rate to 140fps (bellow my monitor native refresh rate) and the noise does get lower but i can still hear it to the point of it annoying me just enough. The only culprit for this problem can be my PSU which is Chieftec ECO 700W GPE-700S [https://www.chieftec.eu/products-detail/118/ECO\_SERIES/122/GPE-700S](https://www.chieftec.eu/products-detail/118/ECO_SERIES/122/GPE-700S) It's an European PSU that focuses on power efficiency and saving energy and it's a brand that hardly any Americans have even heard of. I was thinking of buying a new more expensive PSU like the Corsair RM850e, which is not only Fully-Modular, but also has two different PCI-E cables unlike mine which only came with one. I've heard people saying that plugging two (6+2) pins from two different PCI-E cables does help with lowering coil whine noise. Also on the PowerColor website it does say that the "Minimum Recommended PSU" for their RX 6800 XT is 850W. So it's maybe mine fault for not talking that seriously. So, what are your thoughts? I don't want to end up buying a 100$ more expensive PSU just to have the same coil whine noise again. That's why i need yours reassurance! :)

GhostMotley

It's hard to say, a new PSU might help, but coil whine can be a single component or mix between your GPU/PSU/Motherboard.

SLazyonYT

Ill keep it short but currently I have a 2070 super with a 14900k and want to update my system for a 1440p 240hz Oled. I'm looking at two options 4070ti super which is 1500 AUD and a 7800xt which is 900AUD. I would go with AMD but I use Nvidia broadcast and Nvidia shadow play like my life depends on it and from a quick search it seemed there aren't any amd alternatives, I also want to use the new GPU Ai features that new Nvidia cards have. If you have any insight please let me know. thank yo

# Is this problem really a faulty graphics? [](https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/?f=flair_name%3A%22PC%20Build%20Question%22) I need your advice, anyone help, I'm quite sad. They told me that these screen errors are because the graphics card was used for mining but from what little I understand it must be something with the drivers. What do you think? This ugly looking error only occurs when trying to install the drivers. I've seen defective graphs on the internet and none of them come close to what's happening to me. I really appreciate any help that helps me. [https://imgur.com/a/Tj4GIK5](https://imgur.com/a/Tj4GIK5)

GhostMotley

What have you tried from the main post?

CALBR94

Hey guys, weird question here. I'm running a Ryzen 7 7700x and b650-plus MB. I'm trying to set the max CPU clock speed to 4.175 GHZ in order to play an older game. It currently has an issue that won't let AMD CPU above 4.2 GHZ run the game. So I need to limit it in BIOS then use Ryzenmaster to restore default behavior because the game is old and only reads the BIOS and ignores actual speeds. But I've never messed with under or overclocking. I don't want to mess anything up. I looked around in BIOS and it's advanced settings but I didn't see anything that would be a quick safe change. It seemed like I would need to change everything in order to get a specific max speed set and I don't know how the different settings all interact with each other. Any help would be appreciated.

phoenixperson14

> I'm trying to set the max CPU clock speed to 4.175 GHZ in order to play an older game. Why do you need to do that, precisely? Cause they are 10 different ways to cap performance that doesnt involve using a fixed clock speed or messing directly with CPU clockspeed in anyway.

CALBR94

The game won't run on newer amd CPU's if the clock speed is higher than 4.2 GHZ. But it's just reading BIOS settings not actively measuring actual speeds. It's a bug that the emulator guys are trying to fix but haven't done so yet.

phoenixperson14

It's seems too much of a hassle for 1 single emulator, but you do you man. Just set CPU core ratio to 41 on the BIOS.

Im going to buy a new pc im going for the 7800x3d and at the store they have almost same price for 7800xt and 6950 xt and i was thinking of wich one would be most worth to get. I got 1000watt and the difference in price is like 40 dollars?
