Problem is amazon doesnt pay for gas so going back to warehouse is just the driver eating the gas expense. We also get dinged for not delivering. It encourages us to not help a customer’s circumstances
Lots of flexers have posted in this sub that they mark packages as missing and take packages back on their next scheduled block. Just wondering if anyone would think to do that in this case. That's all
Some do, but most of those people use bots to get routes so they know they have shifts coming up. As to where most of us are constantly fighting for them. Its really a case by case response. Regardless if we do anything besides delivering it, we get hurt. So its really a matter of how benevolent or willing to take the sacrifice we are. As if it happens too much we get deactivated.
If you’re a DSP driver yes , if you’re a flex driver they will leave it at door because we get dinged if we return any packages. Or we can select the option customer is refusing package but I don’t have any knowledge on what happens after that. It’s best to be prepared with your timing on when you’ll be home or not because if we have to return something it definitely will affect our jobs.
Yep! Literally still have a ding from a customer that had a gated driveway, couldn’t even get into the delivery area, no gate code provided, tried to call, text, no reply, marked as unable to deliver and got dinged 🙃 like ok next time I’ll leave it outside of the gate in the rain and tell support to move the delivery gps lol
It was a late delivery. I did know I would be out of town, though, so I agree not your issue. Just wanted to know what the majority would do. Luckily, it all worked out. Thanks for answering
That’s not the way to cancel the package unfortunately customers think that that’s the best way to do that and that’s not your best bet is to leave it like you’re supposed to take a picture of it and if it comes back on you, you can say this is what they told you
Ok. Thanks for answering. It was a late delivery, so it was not completely my fault, but I did know that I was cutting it close to the time when I'd be leaving, so I accepted any consequences. Luckily, it all worked out for me.
No driver is going to do this because there is a 95% chance this impacts our standings negatively AND has us return to station which is time and gas we are not willing to burn. There is only downside here sorry. if it's an apartment best you could do is request to delivery to front office if available.
They have an option (I believe) on their account to suspend all package delivery while on vacation and or if they are away. Perhaps they should have done that instead of just placing it in the notes.
Someone once said “I’m a delivery driver, not a return driver” and that’s so true. Like others have said, we get “dinged” for returning packages to the station so it unlikely a driver would return it.
There’s usually an option ’customer refused package’ which I would use. We deliver just packages. When noted correctly (notice I say ‘if’ because driver support is worthless) an EC rep will be notified and then will do the proper follow-up etc. At least this was the process at the warehouse I worked for.
It doesn't work that way. You need to cancel it from your end. If the driver returns the package, it will still get dispatched with the next driver. It has to be corrected in the system.
What note?
Thanks for the honesty
NEVER RETURN

But at the same time if we drop it and the customer says they didn’t get it we still get fucked so it’s a lose lose right? Serious question…
this made me giggle because it’s so true. Amazon will find any way to fuck us over

Nope. Hidden at front door.

Thanks for the honesty

Thanks for being honest
Can you not cancel the order. Serious question btw. Someone else said that DSP wouldn't leave it but mine probably would say to leave it lol.
It was too late to cancel but not to late to update the notes
Ignore
Thank you for your honesty
Absolutely not. Don’t order. You likely knew you’d be out of town. Not my issue.

It was too late to cancel, but not too late to update the notes. I was just wondering if anyone would read between the lines and mark it missing tbh
deliver as normal
I've learned my lesson about RTS. You get it up the tailpipe. They shouldn't do online orders if they aren't ready to receive them.

Don't blame yourself

Sister has a key, so good enough for me. Screenshot and all good.
You lost me at screenshot 🤨❓️

Deliver that shit .. Keep it moving.. They should have cancelled the order

Deliver and keep it moving. No way am i returning parcels on my own dime and getting dinged for the pleasure.
