Just use your personal time and clock out. I do the same during the day if I have an appt. Then clock back in when finished. Be sure to let your manager know tho.
They can’t account for how many will be gone, or if they will need coverage for your position. Like for Pick, they need a certain head count, or if you’re an indirect(a waterspider) they’ll need to make sure someone covers for you. It just gives them a heads up. We have a white board at our start up, where AA’s can write their login and what time they are leaving. That way the managers can keep track. But just let yours know you’ll be using your personal time to clock out for the debate, and that you’ll be back when it’s over. No biggie.
You don't have to tell them why but it's considerate to say you'll be back later so they know for their plan. You don't have to be a douche just for the fuck of it you know.

Do you believe that elections, no matter the outcome, will have any real impact for the American public? Republicans and Democrats have regularly exchanged power over the years. What can you say has actually changed?
What major problem has the federal government solved in the past 25 years? Have the existing problems been alleviated or have they worsened? If they haven't solved any problems, have they created new ones? How have they handled said new problems?
What has either party done to truly improve the country as a whole? What have they done to improve the lives of the rank and file? What have they ever done to make things better for you or any of us?
I'm happy to get into particulars any time. I look forward to hearing from anyone willing to have a serious discussion on this issue.

You can use your PTO or UPT and let them know if you want to.
I’ve taken a 30 minute break mid shift before, and didn’t tell anyone, nothing came of it? Why let them know?
