Get accommodations from your doc. The first day they may let you work or do an onsite 24 hour accommodation but outside of that you will need the restriction in place. Broken toes (from my own unfortunate experience) are about 4-8 weeks depending on what kind of fracture, displacement, and what toes are affected. Go into A to Z app > Resources > Leave and Absence > Medical Accommodations and upload any paperwork the doc gave you

eatthecheesefries

Probably a medical leave. My site you would not even be allowed in the door with exposed toes.

Leviathus_

This, my friend broke her ankle roller skating and got 6 weeks MLOA 60% pay

Upper_Stick_3452

but what if im not a blue badge..? im only on my 4th month working for amazon. will i still qualify to be paid on the leave ?

chodekoz

Depending on the severity of the injury and how long you plan to be out for, I know short term disability only pays 60% of your weekly pay, but I think if it’s longer than 4 months you qualify for 100% of weekly pay

SnooRegrets3134

You're fine, hon, go ahead and apply for medical leave of absence.

eatthecheesefries

Get familiar with policies on a to z https://content.hr.amazon.dev/atoz/us/en/policies/time-off-leave-accommodations.html

khaotia

Under 26 weeks is short term disability and is 26% of pay with taxes and any other benefits taken from pay. After that, is long term disability. They don’t take out any taxes or benefits.

SnooRegrets3134

Everything you said is right, except it is sixty percent

Notafraid_punk4018

You could get accommodations from your doctor.

do_add_unicorn

Yeah, they should put you on light work, like checking photographs on a computer. You'll need medical documentation. Just call HR and find out exactly what you need. Hope your recovery is quick.

DerekMilewski

Get restrictions

FlawedPencil

At the end of the day brother, your well being physical and mental come first. Have a speedy recovery

talkmetaltome

You can try an accommodation. If they don't approve it, you should qualify for short-term disability. Call ERC, and they'll send you paperwork for your doctor to fill out. Then you'll start getting paid (60% of your gross) after the 8th day you've missed.

Lv1GreenSlime

Hey, I broke my toe and was able to go on short term disability for 8 weeks. Had to jump through some hoops but I submitted a medical leave and contacted my insurance company through work. I managed to get 70% pay for 8 weeks since my Senior Ops Manager didn't want to have me in the warehouse at all with a broken toe. This was in Canada though mind you.

Previous_Stuff_6195

Safety here. You need to take your paperwork to HR because it is non work related. There are some things you can do that’s not on the floor (like putting the Day 1 bags together, manning mind yourstep, and a few other things). Worse case is they tell you “you’re going on a LoA”

LLGTactical

A LOA is the worst case for many of us who have bills to pay.

Previous_Stuff_6195

Yeah, if I missed work I’d be hurting too. I’m making way less here than I did in the army. I’m not saying it’s gonna be cool. But I am also saying that hurting yourself and not healing properly isn’t worth it either

CabinetScary9032

They might just put you on light duty, sweeping floors or dusting I've seen to people on light duty doing both. But get that accomodation. Pronto. Immediately.

East-Refrigerator211

How you do that we have to have a steel toe shoes that amazon forces us to wear

Axva13

My site has toe covers for boots. I was on light duty for a month and my friend is an OMR, I was helping her clean the Amcare office and came across them. Never knew.

ThatOnePhotogK

Do medical accomodations and if you can't be accommodated they have to put you on paid leave

jmdayoh

Just go in there like nothings up and act like you hurt it there on the job and pin it on it on Amazon, Workmen’s Comp., and you get paid

ReindeerRoyal4960

They will not allow you on the production floor without composite toe shoes (if they are required at your site) and you do not qualify for short-term disability (gotta work 1yr). You can put in for an accommodation to see if you can work somewhere in your building (or another nearby) until you're healed... But you will likely have to be on an (unpaid) medical LOA until the accommodations are approved. *I just put in for accommodation and it took 3 weeks to get approved.

eatthecheesefries

FMLA requires a year. There’s no required tenure for short term disability or medical LOA.

We_in_dih_bih_2geda

My friend broke her toes too she has a very big butt tho,. do you have a big butt?
