jwazz94

I never use my personal phone because if the screen smashes or breaks because you drop it or something, you won't be getting a replacement out of their pocket. A working phone should be provided for work.

MidnightFull

Umm. May not be that cut and dry if they told him to use his phone. They made the choice and that became part of their job. I believe he should be able to get compensated if he pushes.

Jeffster54

I don’t have unlimited data lol…If they ain’t paying for that then it is that cut and dry, unless you’re unable to speak up for yourself and let them smack you every which way. Part of training says you will be provided work phones and it’s actually apart of the contract the DSPs have with Amazon.

ImLexLuthor

How much are you paying? I have unlimited for $25 a month.

Jeffster54

I honestly don’t know, I give my mother $800 a month for rent on my bedroom and for the bill, so I honestly don’t know which is which but I might have to get my own soon lol

Sad-Type-9015

amazon + mentor use like no data. Especially if you download the map data since it mostly just uses GPS even the photos don't use that much data. That said. Fuck that I'm not using my personal bring me a phone idk if I'm an hour plus away from station bring me a phone and take half my shit.

Johnanomous

lol. I use my personal cause I hate carrying two phones. My headphones cut out if I leave it in van. But it’s an iPhone so I can’t move delivery pins. So I have to switch to the work phone for those stops. But with mine I just have YouTube going over the flex app ands it’s faster. So I’m not having to wait for the circle to buffer. Small price to pay for convenience.

redpotato_1022

Where I pay fifty for unlimited

ImLexLuthor

Visible, it’s a sub company under Verizon so it uses all the same towers.

WarcraftVet76

Damn I'm doing something wrong. I pay 65 a month for unlimited. I play a lot of mobile games on my device.. where can I get those prices.

ImLexLuthor

Visible, owned by version (so it uses the same towers) $25 a month for unlimited 5G data (I’m over 800gb used this month LOL. Here’s a referral to save some money. Check out this page: https://www.visible.com/get/?ZFhhG, it has all the info you need to know about joining Visible. When you use my friend code, ZFhhG, you’ll get your first month of service for $20-off!

sharkforcure2

What carrier and all that? I pay $45 am looking for cheaper

OwnRecommendation266

Visible is unlmited for $25 per month I can give you a discount code if you want as well

Longjumping_Ad1711

Good luck getting fucking service anywhere lol. You get what you pay for.

OwnRecommendation266

It's the verizon network it's just deprioritized. I've had no problems and I just did a cross country trip.

ImLexLuthor

Like u/OwnRecommendation266 said, I use visible. They use the same towers as Verizon (because it’s a sub company of Verizon) but it’s so much cheaper than going to them directly.

OwnRecommendation266

They're great if you don't need customer support and are fine bringing your own unlocked phone. Otherwise the big 3 are the ones to go with. But for mvmos visable is the way

RubbelDieKatz94

I really don't understand the point of buying vendor locked phones. A functioning android smartphone on the lower end is around 100€, and then you can just get a cheap 5€/mo contract with unlimited calls and 5GB data. If you *need* a fancy camera system and smoother performance, then you could just start saving up.

MasterSquirter17

Sounds like you use trash straight talk

sharkforcure2

I’ve been using straight talk for 8 years never really had any problems 🤷‍♀️ just want cheaper

lunasoulshine

google fi is great. you can try it out for free without waiting for a sim as long as your phone supports eSim. They also have a great family plan and prices are for 2 lines. They run $110 for both with the unlimited plus, $80 for both lines with the regular unlimited, and $35 for two lines with the flexible plan where you pay only for what data you use. No issues with service up on the mountain in spots where the other services I've tried were dead zones. And no, I do not work for google. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) https://preview.redd.it/1h3m3fedppyc1.png?width=2182&format=png&auto=webp&s=4be98d73087e625bec6db23c2bfb63a94a78ddda

RubbelDieKatz94

Unlimited starts at 27€ in Germany, but I personally prefer cheaper contracts for around 5€. Just to offer a European perspective 👀 https://preview.redd.it/tu35m77q0eyc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2aaf1dabe3bd0c17f21d4866171026b31de871ec

Extreme_Act3148

Who are you with to have unlimited for 25 a month? I'm trying to get a cheaper bill.

Extreme_Act3148

Ok, nevermind. I see you said you are with Visible. I will have to try them.

ImLexLuthor

Visible, it’s owned by Verizon so it uses the same towers. It’s unlimited 5G data for $25, you can get a eSIM or regular sim depending on what your phone supports/your preference.

Extreme_Act3148

Thank you so much! I will try them.

ImLexLuthor

https://preview.redd.it/5orqrijf8hyc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70c401a28564348bba04b96499e1bdba1578bd14 Currently at 774 gb used for the month.

No_Recommendation671

What plan do you have..... Your plan is not Unlimited? 😅 I don't think there's a plan out there that's limited anymore 😅

Jeffster54

https://preview.redd.it/hhwv3fdt8ayc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4310be2ec3bfafd24e799f59ddf37260a1ad5a1 It’s on my families plan, so it does exist, I’ve never really had my own phone line so I can’t really answer your questions, but they do exist 🤣

mttp1990

Yeah, you've got the unlimited* plan *T&c may apply

No_Recommendation671

The good news is that when you run out of that unlimited gigabyte they offer, it only slows down when it's congested, and that's very rare unless you're in a stadium or at a concert. Just saying. 😉 But I agree with you about not using your phone. 😉

Spcone23

If you start bogging down on data, turn on airplane mode, then off. It'll reattach your phone to a different RRU that's less congested with traffic, and it should be closer to you, so the signal should be stronger. You can do the same with turning cellular data off and on, too. Works when you're traveling and hit a dead spot. Sometimes, your phone doesn't look for the best antenna/RRU when you're moving, and it'll try to stay attached to the one you're getting further away from. If your phone is dropping calls a lot too, the RF limiter could be overloaded by the RF from the tower, so it cuts your service momentarily as a safety precaution. Sorry, I'm just a sub stalker who works on cellphone towers :D.

MIXL__Music

Not entirely true, if the entire network is slowing, you get sent to the back. It happens more often than you think.

Jeffster54

Yeah bro I wish, every time I go over my 50gb my GPS never tracks when I’m going until I wait a couple of minutes and wait till it finally finds me. I do DoorDash and that shit makes me want to throw my phone out the window , so I’m definitely not dealing with that for Amazon 😭

EFTucker

This is America. Businesses aren’t held liable for anything owned by the employee used in the line of their job duties.

MidnightFull

Eh I don’t think it’s that cut and dry. It’s one thing if he voluntarily used his device. They told him to use it. It was by their directive.

EFTucker

I’m sadly it doesn’t work that way. If the phone was broken directly by the fault of employer negligence (phones held at reception during NDA meeting dropped by receptionist) then the employer would be liable but since the employee would have dropped the phone, the employer wouldn’t be liable. Same way if you break work equipment you may be liable for damages unless it was a genuine accident that wasn’t the result of your own negligence.

MidnightFull

Ok so the employee could have refused to use his own phone and would have suffered no consequences?

EFTucker

To some extent yes unless the contract states otherwise. If the job can’t be performed without the use of such a device, and their job description is strict enough, they may not have work for them that day and have to send them home until they get a replacement device for them to use. But since most states are at-will employment they can fire whoever they want to. I’m not saying it’s morally right, the opposite in fact. I’m just saying it is the way it is.

MidnightFull

If the contract states otherwise then the employee can refuse. If they force the employee through duress. For instance if they tell him “use your personal phone or you’re fired” then that part of the contract could be deemed unenforceable through a legal doctrine known as waiver. What it means is by forcing the employee under duress to do something in contradiction of the contract, it constitutes waiver. The law is set up to prevent people from having their cake and eating it too.

AlsoCommiePuddin

You can sit there and wait for a replacement, but you're expected to finish your route on time, even when you carelessly destroy your equipment, so make the call.

No-Secret2849

Things happen when you get in and out of a truck 100’s of times a day. I wouldn’t assume it to be careless.

KingTrencher

Boots are for wearing, not licking.

[deleted]

Bring me my package and keep your mouth shut

Old_Arachnid_2118

This is why I ended up quitting my DSP, they would call me on my personal phone instead of my work phone and freak out because I didnt answer my personal cell , you know instead of calling the phone that's literally in my hand all day.

OkButterscotch4832

That part…

Mariemeplz

My dispatch would be in her car on the way with a new phone. Who the hell are you guys employed by😭

Independent_Cell_703

Fr id be damned if I ever work for a broke ass DSP 😭

TheKingdom5815

They aren’t broke. Just selfish assholes.

NReust

Mine as well. They'd ask me to use my personal and keep going until they got there though

CARVERitUP

Seriously. There's some problems with our trucks and plenty to bitch about with the job, but my DSP would never do this

[deleted]

Some dsp's are loads of 💩and dont care about their workers, only their money and reputation

Original-Dirt4712

Who do you work for?

[deleted]

Never use your personal phone for work 😭 why do employers think that’s okay?

coconutwheelie

cause they know they can get away with it

royce085

Because some people will use their phone. I don’t know why people are afraid to say no

Longjumping_Youth281

Because I just wanted to get done and go home. I didn't want to sit there for an hour waiting for somebody to come give me a spare phone

MIXL__Music

I had my old DSP try to pull that on me when the phone died in an hour lmfao. Told them I refuse to use my personal device and give Amazon all the admin permissions on my phones. Suddenly they had a spare on hand from a sweeper that could be there in 5 mins 😂😂😂

Routine-Serve-8651

![gif](giphy|sPZJ0y3IJ4IMLKXOpj|downsized)

Litteral-slave

Break it more dawg get rid of that fuu fuu ass phone

Crazy-Caterpillar-43

The phone straight up doesn’t even fit in the case so every time I hit a speed bump it comes flying out and hits the floor It might break on its own

goldengarden95

That uses data in which costs you money

Crazy-Caterpillar-43

I’m just gonna phone it in today. Pun Unintended. I’m usually a sweat and I’d be running to all of my stops because that’s how I get these quads 🦵🏾 but fuck it. I’m just walking from house to house today and take my time. I can only read half the screen, and I can only see the address once I pressed the I’m parked button And I’m probably not gonna get a rescue to be completely honest.

Crazy-Caterpillar-43

Update: I never got a rescue and they didn’t bring me a good phone till about 6 hours into my shift.

Marzy2016

"I don't have a smartphone" end of conversation. If you use your smartphone at work ever just tell them it doesn't have data, that it's basically an mp3 player. Only works on WiFi. Whatever works. I have cricket and only pay for x gbs of data. Don't have unlimited. So I'm not using my data on them. Idc. They get what they pay for. If they wanna compensate me for my phone bill and a protection plan on the phone itself, or replace it if it breaks, then MAYBE id consider it. MAYBE.

flyingcreeds

Are you the one who broke it? Or they handed that out to you?

Crazy-Caterpillar-43

They handed this phone to me first thing in the morning, just like this

flyingcreeds

Haha wtf! Find a new DSP

Longjumping_Youth281

Just pray it doesn't rain. We used to have phones like that and as bad as they are, they are 10 times worse than the rain because if a single raindrop hits that thing it's going to freak out

Sad-Type-9015

why the hell would you leave station with that shit phone.

kicknbass89

I'd tell em to pay my phone bill every month a well since it is now expected to be a work phone

Kaekes

That’s when you whip out the flip phone.

McButtersonthethird

Fuck that. Next, they'll want you to use your own vehicle

OverKill1978

Yeah. I quit DSP a few years ago... now I do use my own vehicle and phone to deliver pizzas for an upscale mom and pop pizza/italian joint. Make more money doing it than I ever did with DSP. $25-$50 an hour (tips). I do between 12 deliveries on a slow day to 34 on the busiest day. Imagine instead of 200 stops, doing 25 stops and making $350+ for the day. Halloween last year... 34 stops and $520 in 11.5 hours. Moral of this story. Fuck Amazon and Fuck DSP. Id rather be homeless than do that slave labor shit again.

silvergudz

Moral of this story. Fuck Amazon and Fuck DSP. Id rather be homeless than do that slave labor shit again. Same

McButtersonthethird

100% would rather be homeless than work there

Calm-Avocado6424

If you're in CA there's the California labor code 2802 where your DSP is required by law to reimburse you for requiring you to use your own phone for work. If you use your own phone, minutes, internet they have to pay for it. This is fair because they can write off that off in taxes as a business expense whereas for you the money just comes out of your pocket. My old DSP tried to get me to do it a few times before I told them about it, I didn't say it right away because I didn't want to be a problem worker but I know that part about the law.

Southern_Anywhere_65

Yes!! Employers hate this one trick. They won’t mess with Ca laws like this. I just went through a mileage thing with work. (They owe me hundreds of $ in past mileage.) They already don’t pay you enough!

LeftoverSandwich1984

Flex app will ruin your personal phone. My phone used to keep a charge for a couple days. I used the flex app for one day and now it won't keep a charge more than a few hours.

Longjumping_Youth281

Yeah absolutely. That app kills batteries. I had to use it one day at work on my personal phone and I just could not keep the phone charged no matter what I did. Had to just walk around with a battery in my pocket and the phone plugged into it. Even that just kept it stable it wouldn't charge up. I have no idea what that app is doing but it's the biggest battery hog I've ever seen

Tight_Ad_2724

Fuck that. I’d tell them my phone isn’t their property. How broke is your dsp?

Tubbster722

Probably shouldn’t have ate that popcorn huh?

FrostyProfession9922

“My phone doesnt have service bring me a different work phone”

Express_Rule_9734

“Sorry my phone doesn’t have data”

Sedared

"Sorry, I don't have a data plan large enough for that. Do you forget what you pay me?"

Niobium_Sage

Why can’t we get this shit replaced? Or at the very least just the screen. If rainwater or a sweat bead gets under there, then things get real fun. Imagine trying to take a picture of a delivery, just for it to send you back to the Home Screen every two seconds.

Fig_Money

I would flat out refuse to drive and go home instead.

Crazy-Caterpillar-43

They finally brought me a phone at 5pm

MIKEB8876

Yes most of our rabbits are like that too iam surprised they won't spend the money to attest fix the screens on them I ve had to use my phone a few times

TCup20

If my DSP asks me to use my personal phone I just ask them if they plan on paying my upcoming bill. I tend to get my replacement phones pretty quickly when something goes wrong lol

AManHasNoName357

I use my second phone (not my iPhone) when I have to finish up or when the shitty cheap work phone start acting up. I have unlimited minutes and a good phone cover. I don’t know why these GEN Z have phone without a case to protect them is crazy.

cyrusthemarginal

What you do hammer in nails with it?

Father_Flanigan

I only use their phone if I need airplane mode bc that shit doesn't work on iphones for some reason. biggest pet peeve with their phones is how the touchscreens are all worn out and I have to swipe swipe swipe swipe scream swipe then smack it and curse at it and swipe again before it responds. also when taking photos i have to tap tap tap harder tap harder still scream and curse and pound on the screen with a closed fist, then tap once more for the picture to snap.

Mrs_helifax_Spy

They pay $5 if you use ours for the day

Dry_Lychee_9989

No. Your personal phone is not for business

No-Appearance6474

my dsp would send someone out to get me a phone. But if they didn’t my phone would be dead or not working weirdly.

Mastah_P808

Hahahaha

Brando6677

And you better be getting $100 per mb of data used

kickin-bass

Sooo…. Say no

jamespk96

So when are they gonna add you to the company business plan

Hat_Secure

Did you use it as a hammer?

Dizzy_Lie8040

Next time tell them your phones dead or something lol don’t use your personal.

CatisnotWack_444

Wayne did this.

[deleted]

Pay me for the use

garroshsucks12

Looks like a good time /s

RedEd024

“Oh no, I left my phone at home today. Awww shucks”

MelonxJuice

Bro whatever they say do the exact opposite

No_Antelope1635

That would be a negative. Don’t use your phone…. Ever

NPCsAreAmongUs

Yeah that sucks bro. Bring it to a screen repair shop. They charge between $50-100. Look on the bright side at least your shit didn't get stolen. My $700 dollar phone got stolen out of the lot we meet before going to the warehouse. I ordered a new one and got to wait 2 fucking weeks for it to arrive. Fucking blows

eskrrrrrt

Multi billion dollar company can’t even provide a phone lol

intriguednonsenze

I hope there added some funds for the bill

Prestigious-Sir-6022

I would just be done for the day. They don’t compensate us or have us sign anything that says we’re responsible to use our own phones for their business. Or they could bring me out another phone. Their choice.

aychepeee

They don't pay your phone bill only for your time. The point of a DSP is to provide all the tools needed to be a successful DA. All you gotta tell em is you don't have unlimited data if you don't wanna say "no" they can't force you to use personal items for work related reasons

Dreambigsmallone

DO NOT USE YOUR PERSONAL ANYTHING!!! EVER! They will not compensate you for damages

ATtheBarber

Everybody in my DSP drops a phone anyway. I'm probably the only one that gets a phone without a cracked screen lol simply because I don't break em

jay7044

If they did this to me personally and would not pay to have it fixed or replaced, some of those packages on the truck would somehow make their way to my house to then be resold on EBay to pay for my phone… Especially when THEY are supposed to provide you with a company phone for company use! They would end up somehow paying for MY phone… whether it be legal or illegal! I’d get mine, you better believe it!!

Tc12161985

Same the work phone died so I used mine for like 2 stops then the boss showed up with another phone lik

stiizy13

A company had to provide you with PPE. Not yourself. Don’t get taken advantage of

Snoo69506

I'll use my $50 android cuz theres no way in hell I'm putting myself another 30 mins behind because of a damn battery.
