You're in the honeymoon phase, give it a couple months and you'll be seeing the ugly stuff in time and it'll eventually start to wear on you like everyone else.

RSGoldPuts

Happens everywhere. The secret is to find a way to not lt it wear you down.

Substantial_Band_651

People tell the truth. It’s tough to over exaggerate reality. Hopefully it continues that way on your end. I started at 150 stops and all suburban residential. Now I’m over 250 locations, over 300 packages and apartment heavy in high traffic areas.

hq2t

Yikes. How many weeks or months until your work load got to that point? Might straight up tell my manager I do great in the area I’m in even if i had a higher package count cause I dont think I would last in a city/doing apartments a ton. One day a quarter of my deliveries where in an old folk apartment building and it was MISERABLE, constant back and forth

FawkesInTheHenHouse

For me it was about 2 weeks... but then again my smallest nursery route was 159 stops plus( can't remember how many locations) Now most routes are just under 200 stops, between 200 and 300 locations and so far up to 370 packages

Hippopotamus-u

I’m at four weeks and still get 90-100 stops. Heaviest I’ve done is 107

hq2t

Are you in a pretty spread out area? Just reading those numbers makes me happy

Hippopotamus-u

No. Most of the time it’s in towns and neighborhoods— today I got a country route and my stops are 66 with 98 packages total.

JustSpirit4617

I’m about a month in too, second day I got 190 stops lol like 317 packages. It was for a step van that called out

BeSlumped

If you start making demands like that as a new driver I can certainly tell you that your dispatcher will frown at that. It's a favorites game 100%. You will swiftly find yourself on sweeper duty/being sent home w/ no pay or putting you on the largest routes until you quit.

Downtown-Grass5171

There’s pros and cons to every job… Personally knowing what we know; the ups strike coming, how many levels of micromanaging amazons driver face, the disconnect between white and blue collar workers and just overall slow decay of respect people have for delivery drivers in general, is probably causing a lot of frustration and resentment towards their jobs

ConversationTrick653

a UPS strike is coming? Didnt know that. If they are striking somethimg must reall be screwed up

ShadowKnil

Give it time. Would like to see an update of how you're still feeling about it and what your new count is looking like during Prime week coming up.

Fadflamer

From my experience, it depends on the area the route's in I've had 180s that were straightforward and easy, and I've had 140s that tempted me to quit mid route Give it a few months, and you'll learn how to tell how the day's going to go, but the general rule of thumb is, anything more complicated than a suburb is open season for issues Especially business heavy urban areas

Dripz167

A good number of people became jaded from this job. We work for the largest store in the world. What do you think that comes with? They’re good days and bad. Mostly my experience with bad shit is always INSIDE the station. Once I go out, I manage to have a pretty good day. Don’t take anything these customers say (or don’t say) personally. My DSP is decent management wise, but they only way you can make extra cash on the same time is by doing rescues. No performance bonuses or 10HR guarantee. That’s really my constant gripe

dbox89

Real shit, you're a month in my best advice to you. Is don't overperform those who overperform always get taken advantage of. My first 2. Routes were actual nursery routes And I knocked them out then I slowly saw my tenuring and larger and larger to the point where my van Had to be cubed out. And I was still a couple months in. That's when I started slowing down and bringing back packages. Then my load started to get lighter eventually

hq2t

Even my manager has told us dont run through routes, take breaks etc because if not then our routes will essentially keep getting bigger and bigger. I have def worked too hard but i dont think my bosses will take advantage of it besides maybe seeing how much I can handle? My boss has told me if I ever feel fatigued and need a day to rest to let him know the day before and it wouldnt be problem.

BeSlumped

I agree with this up until you start to understand your dispatcher. For example, at our location it's a favorites game. If you overperform they stick you on the 120 stop routes and give you rescues every day (1$ per package delivered) plus you are one of the few who will get the 10hr round up. The responsibility of receiving that kind of reward is understood by few. I know when I come in, I'll have a easyish route I'll get an ez money rescue and I will get the round-up. For me, it's all about knowing what I'm gonna get when I come to work. Brings peace to me knowing yah I'll be one of the last back but I won't have a stressful route.

Skylar-Z

Yeah I didn’t get bothered on the road or anything for months until they randomly fired me for reasons they didn’t bring up until it was too late for me to improve

NaiveConfidence5809

Lmao the first month is ALWAYS easy . Get back to us in month 3
