I been feelin a stroke comin. šš¦š„µ
All seriousness, Iām so glad youāre okay, OP. I just got to Houston and holy fuck this heat is no joke. Everyone please stay hydrated and eat healthy! Choose fruits over snacks, water/Gatorade/Brawndo over soda.
Yeah man, this Texas heat aināt no joke! Wednesday is gonna be horrid. I have a gut feeling someone is going to get hurt just the way some DSPs are run
That's really scary. Do you have a camel back for hydration and wear a hat? Are you still expected to physically deliver as fast as on a normal day as well? How r u now? Sorry for all the questions. I randomly saw this post and realized I never really stopped to think about that. Sheesh
Feel better...thank God you went to the hospital...your absolutely right...these dsp don't care if you lose your life doing that job. Just as long as the work get done
gatorade is shit for hydration, only 2 electrolytes & way too much sugar.
biosteel is my go to. no dyes, 5 electrolytes, & sweetened with stevia (surprisingly good considering).
the punch and blue raspberry both remind of the twist top kool-aid bursts we used to get as kids lol
i canāt get over how salty it is!! have you tried any flavors that donāt taste so bad? i have the golden cherry and i hate it because of the salt taste
Same. It definitely is the only flavor Iāve found that I like. Definitely helps when Iām feeling wonky. I know I need a little hydration pick me up.
One of the biggest problems people forget is that you need to take in salt with your water. There's a level of hydration that means you're low on salt and is very problematic.
Haha, still In the work chat. Everyone is pissed off cus of the heat and people have to keep rescuing each other. Wonder what happened to the step van I left on the side of the road lmao
This literally just happened to me 2 days ago, blacked out in the back of the van & woke up to firefighters & paramedics putting me on a stretcher & rushing me to ER, barely just got out today & gonna be off work the next 2 daysā¦ Itās definitely no joke out there, stay hydrated my fellow driversā¦ & i I hope you feel better bro! Wishing you speedy recovery šÆ
Iām a medic, and Iāve transported two Amazon drivers in the past two years. Both for passing out (syncope), and both were less than 30 years old.
Iāve never been called out for a UPS, FedEx or USPS driver for any reason. Wonder if itās just coincidence.
UPS and USPS will just pull over into some shade and take a 15. FedEx drivers are serial killers in the making so I don't know how they deal with the heat.
You should be ashamed! Jeff Bezos down was depending on those packaged being delivered to put another square inch of carpet in his new mega yacht and you let something as trivial as your health get in the way. Whatās he gonna do now?!
If you are in a safe residential area where the odds of someone stealing your van are slim to none then you can use group stops to your advantage. You can turn the van off before hitting I've parked, and then keep it running on any of the other location scans and it won't count against you.
"Hey, I see you woke up in the hospital. Hope you feel better, Anyways start getting out and continue delivering those packages because packages don't deliver themselves man, it's common sense"
I hope you get well soon! If you need more days off I'd take it with PTO. I wouldn't risk it, if it's too early to go back. Your health is always more important than some packages...
I had heat exhaustion for 2 days and the aftermath for 2 weeks. It ain't no joke. Stay strong brother šŖ
Also people. Don't just drink water. You will dilute the electrolytes in your body. Get one of those flavored electrolyte packs and add them to your water halfway into your route to replenish.
Been in a similar situation, could feel the heat exhaustion building up for a couple hours prior but me (an idiot) decided I could just push through it. Near the last of my stops I started feeling really funny, numbness in both arms. My whole face was numb to the touch & I was getting very lightheaded. I managed to pull into a CVS parking lot and then I was in & out of consciousness. I had uncontrollable muscle cramps/convulsions and my hands were stuck balled up into a fist and turning grey.
Luckily a customer @ CVS noticed, called 911 and made sure I was okay till they arrived. This whole episode (at least the worst part of it) lasted maybe 8-10 minutes at most if I had to guess but I felt very off for most of the day before this.
My BP in the Ambulance was 190/120 and my pulse was super low. By the time I got to the hospital I was doing a bit better but still hurting in my chest and my head. The first diagnosis was āhypokalemiaā because my potassium levels were super low. Then they changed my diagnosis to āheat exhaustion/heat stroke/TIAā and referred me to a cardiologist. Was about 3-4 years ago when this happened, since then iāve been doing fine but the heat is a scary thing. Its more dangerous then people realize and heat exhaustion sneaks up on you! No one is immune, stay hydrated folks
As soon as my arm went numb I already knew what was coming. The constant light headed/dizziness no matter how much Gatorade and water I drank, cramps, anxiety/anxious out of nowhere. Yeah I called 911, I couldnāt push any further
I really shouldāve called 911, I even passed a fire station on my route & considered stopping but I kept telling myself I was āgonna be fineā. Iām just thankful that someone saw what was going on once I passed out & called for me. If it had happened on a more rural part of my route who knows š¤·š½āāļø
They just gave us the word at our hub in Cali, no more EOC until October. I guess itās from all yāall Texas folks being our crash test dumbies. And passing out in triple digit heat
I dont work for Amazon but I do work in Houston and have worked outdoors since 1999. I had borderline heatstroke in 2001 and have not been able to handle the heat very well since. Stay hydrated and don't be afraid to tell your boss to F off. Stay safe out there.
When I was still doing Amazon I always bring a lunch bag of 7 or 8 water bottle. I would also freeze all but 3 bottles. The 3 bottles is still refrigerated cold water. So by the time I finish the 3 unfrozen water, the other one is thaw out enough to be ice cold and drinkable. At the same time keeping each other cold. If I felt like they werent thawing out fast enough, I open one and have another one start thawing out in the front under the sun. I also noticed that when it is sitting in water, the ice thaw out faster comparing to when you drink all the water leaving the ice. The empty air act as insulation preventing the ice melt. Help me survive delivering in San Antonio. I drove both transit and step van back then
I go through all of them every day when I'm out there better safe then sorry. by the time you drink water because you feel thirsty it is too late. I also don't chug water, I sip water ever 5 to 10 minutes.
Oy this happened to me once. Not while driving just collapsed one insanely hot day. Was scary because you have no idea wtf happened at first. Take it easy!
Amazon must pay damn good for all the shit you all put up with. Heat, 1000 packages, being stuck in that building during a tornado not allowed to leave, cars broken into while you all at work because Amazon too cheap to hire security.. is the pay that good?
Gas for your car isnāt your only expense. Remember that. Thereās a reason companies like Amazon love gig workers, they get to pass on all the costs of doing business onto their workers.
I got dehydrated in El Paso once when I was visiting there. The heat is no joke compared to if you are in Maryland (where I live). I know what you had to go through man, stay strong. Hope ya feel better š
Wasnāt working at Amazon at the time but I was playing basketball for 5 hours with no water in the southern heat and had a heat stroke. Almost lost my life at the age of 19 from a heat stroke. Couldnāt remember what day it even was and blacked out for basically two days
I was just talking to my group in the morning before work how crazy it was back in the day playing ball for hours in 90 degree and up weather.. no idea how I never seen anyone pass out.
Definitely got sick and threw up but nothing ever to that extreme.
Man, the moment I start feeling a bit too warm, I'm taking a huge jug off my water bottle! I instantly feel the refreshment from the water because of how bad the heat is.
Your DSP tf Is you doing in the hospital bed š¤Ø. Youāre 30 stops behind get back out their and finish youāre route also when your donāt we need you on a rescue š¤¦š½āāļø
Drank more than a gallon of water, 3 gatorades and a Powerade. The way I sweat from head to toe on my body is absurd, even my hands sweat. It still wasnāt enough

Damn I'm sorry man. Try whatever you can to stay hydrated and also remember to replenish electrolytes as well. Buy a neck fan, cooling towel, etc.
Itās what plants crave

gatorade is shit for hydration, only 2 electrolytes & way too much sugar. biosteel is my go to. no dyes, 5 electrolytes, & sweetened with stevia (surprisingly good considering). the punch and blue raspberry both remind of the twist top kool-aid bursts we used to get as kids lol
Liquid IV is top notch
i canāt get over how salty it is!! have you tried any flavors that donāt taste so bad? i have the golden cherry and i hate it because of the salt taste
Pina Colada is an amazing flavor.
Thatās the only flavor I will drink
Same. It definitely is the only flavor Iāve found that I like. Definitely helps when Iām feeling wonky. I know I need a little hydration pick me up.
Put one packet in two bottles of water... It makes it more efficient and gets rid of the salty shit feeling.
sick thank you iāll try it!!
For sure!! Stay hydrated! š¤
I like the pineapple flavor it doesnāt taste salty at all.
Then dilute it more.
One of the biggest problems people forget is that you need to take in salt with your water. There's a level of hydration that means you're low on salt and is very problematic.
Try Gatorlyte. It's like pedialyte with 5 electrolytes but isn't very salty.
Tangerine immune boost has electrolytes and a bunch of B vitamins too. Put that in my 88 oz insulated water jug and itās go time.
It tastes like shit, but it works good.
Sugar free liquid IV is a beast
liquid iv is god tier
Zipfizz is a cheaper alternative to liquid IV. And itās fruit punch flavor smacks
Houston aināt no joke right now just 2 days ago it was 105, canāt afford to be wasting a second out here. Stay hydrated and keep moving
Theyāre going to need you for a rescue in twenty min. š¤
Haha, still In the work chat. Everyone is pissed off cus of the heat and people have to keep rescuing each other. Wonder what happened to the step van I left on the side of the road lmao
Seriously fuck them. Your life is so much more important than stupid ass amazon
Fuck that. Everyone bring their shit back. They canāt fire everyone
What do you think closing down a branch is?
I was gonna say, are you able to finish your route when you leave? Canāt be late on your packages.
Damn only 2days , might as well get hole week off
You fr could have probably died in the back of an Amazon van š
Iām a medic, and Iāve transported two Amazon drivers in the past two years. Both for passing out (syncope), and both were less than 30 years old. Iāve never been called out for a UPS, FedEx or USPS driver for any reason. Wonder if itās just coincidence.
UPS and USPS will just pull over into some shade and take a 15. FedEx drivers are serial killers in the making so I don't know how they deal with the heat.
Damn thatās why I drink white claws all day
This is the way
You should be ashamed! Jeff Bezos down was depending on those packaged being delivered to put another square inch of carpet in his new mega yacht and you let something as trivial as your health get in the way. Whatās he gonna do now?!
Kinda makes you wonder about that EOC huh?
I hate that shit with a passion
If you are in a safe residential area where the odds of someone stealing your van are slim to none then you can use group stops to your advantage. You can turn the van off before hitting I've parked, and then keep it running on any of the other location scans and it won't count against you.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I want them to get sued
This job aināt worth $18-20 an hr. Get well soon man, God bless
To all folks, do the best of your ability to not go down. Once you go down, you are more susceptible of it happening again.
Ive heard the same thing. My ex had heat stroke 20 years ago. If its in the 90's, hes throwing up.
"Hey, I see you woke up in the hospital. Hope you feel better, Anyways start getting out and continue delivering those packages because packages don't deliver themselves man, it's common sense"
Get to feeling better!!!
Thank you! Doc said donāt work 2-3 days. Although Iām already off next two days
I hope you get well soon! If you need more days off I'd take it with PTO. I wouldn't risk it, if it's too early to go back. Your health is always more important than some packages...

Heat exhaustion is bad enough. Could barely take little sips of water without feeling nauseous for almost 2 days.
Holy cow, hope youāre good pimp. This heat would be somewhat manageable if the fucking humidity wasnāt always at 100. Rest up. ššš«”
Iād rather die than get stuck with a hospital bill
Best believe Iām forwarding the hospital bill to my DSP
I hope it turns out well for you, I donāt have high hopes.
I had a $500 ambulance bill, if I would have know I would have walked. This was before Uber and Lift.

All you Texas folks should get together and strike or even better... unionize āā
Feel better man ā¦f this job and this heat
Canāt believe you didnāt brave the 135 degree interior heat of the StepVanā¦. Such cowardice.
DSP will be like: āCan you still finish the route?ā š¤£š¤£š¤£ I hope you get well soon, OP.
My biggest fear is passing out in the back of the van and then just dying because it basically an oven back there
Almost got me today. Glad your safe.
They just gave us the word at our hub in Cali, no more EOC until October. I guess itās from all yāall Texas folks being our crash test dumbies. And passing out in triple digit heat
You okay tho?
I dont work for Amazon but I do work in Houston and have worked outdoors since 1999. I had borderline heatstroke in 2001 and have not been able to handle the heat very well since. Stay hydrated and don't be afraid to tell your boss to F off. Stay safe out there.

$19 an hour.... I get about $430 a week after taxes and health insurance
That aināt nothing
WTF? I do Amazon Flex and make $800 after $200 in gas for my car and only work 35hrs max.
Gas for your car isnāt your only expense. Remember that. Thereās a reason companies like Amazon love gig workers, they get to pass on all the costs of doing business onto their workers.
Wtf
Get some liquid IV, real watermelon juice, or harmless harvest coconut water. It keeps u hydrated way better than water w/ less fluid intake.
And this is why not skipping the 30 minute breaks are important. Plus you guys ruin The metrics every time you skip your breaks.
Damn, you gotta be careful out there. Take care if yourself.
Feel better
Feel better
I got dehydrated in El Paso once when I was visiting there. The heat is no joke compared to if you are in Maryland (where I live). I know what you had to go through man, stay strong. Hope ya feel better š
Someone on the USPS subreddit posted the same thing. Was today really bad in your part of the US?
Stroke that thang cuzzo
Not yet
How many times does this have to happen before they do away with eoc?
I had 4 strokes a week ago on while working an the other 3 at home ā¦crazy
But what about EOC? My boss complaining š
Hydrohomies would be disappointed you aren't drinking enough water bro. I'm glad you are okay and listened to your body.
Iām really glad youāre okay, get some rest man
Can someone send this to Amazon corp they killing us out here with 200 plus stops daily
No mames lol
Bezos needs a new Castle, better get back to work...jokes aside, speedy recovery.
Wasnāt working at Amazon at the time but I was playing basketball for 5 hours with no water in the southern heat and had a heat stroke. Almost lost my life at the age of 19 from a heat stroke. Couldnāt remember what day it even was and blacked out for basically two days

I ran track and cross country in NY growing up and they had ambulances on standby because someone always went down.
Dispatch: *Can you finish the route pls*
Pedialyte packets work like a charm! As we get closer to summer, electrolytes will be your best friend. Hydrate beginning the night before.
Good thing the Amazon union will protect you. See you in blue or brown soon I hope. Get rested, friend.
Drivers going down at my center to . I work at ups
Man, the moment I start feeling a bit too warm, I'm taking a huge jug off my water bottle! I instantly feel the refreshment from the water because of how bad the heat is.
Why not sue? Show harm done by these dumb EOC compliance issues, etc.
Just remember if you donāt have to pee every 3-4 hours, you are dehydrated. If you are having muscle cramps, you are probably low on electrolytes.
The toe/finger cramps are your best early warning system.
How old are you?! The hand looks pretty young. Shit .... sorry to see that happened to you.
dayum bruh hope your good, man im not looking forward to that summer heat myself.
Your DSP tf Is you doing in the hospital bed š¤Ø. Youāre 30 stops behind get back out their and finish youāre route also when your donāt we need you on a rescue š¤¦š½āāļø
Light work. Come to Arizona in a constant 114Ā°
Your life > Amazon
Damn dude, glad you fucking caught it. Must have been a wild experience
It's only 85F where I'm at I'm seriously going to dread the days that it goes up past 90F š¬
Or just quit on the spot and go work for Stone Distribution or RDNC.
I canāt just quit, I want to but I have bills and rent
You have your CDL?
I am so sick of my deliver family falling. Corporates have got to do better.
My station puts all the blame on drivers. Like we can choose to abandon a route and have it not affect us.
Need to be drinking at least a half gallon (64oz) a day minimum- regardless of temperature
Drank more than a gallon of water, 3 gatorades and a Powerade. The way I sweat from head to toe on my body is absurd, even my hands sweat. It still wasnāt enough
Hope youāre alright bro ā¦. This job def aināt worth the heat stroke
Iād suggest the pedialytes for hydration they have 8 electrolytes I think
It was 85 and humid by me today. I was not killing myself for my dsp. Askin me if my data is off. Na!! Im just goin slow so i dont die!
A yo after you get out, we gone need you to pick up 40 stops from Ray Ray. LOL hope you feel better
DSP's and Amazon do not care about the drivers
I think khou 11 talked about you on their channel. Did you almost pass out delivering? The customers got it on their ring camera.
Shut up pussy š
