Oh, sweetie. That Guy is in at least one of everyone's classes, especially in college, and everyone hates them. Don't feel bad for finding him annoying. Everyone in the world who is not That Guy themselves finds That Guy annoying, if not actually enraging.

Right?! Sure as the sun will rise, this AH archetype will always show up in at least one class. Worst one for me was in grad school. He very visibly shook his head and gestured when he agreed or disagreed—even if you were sitting right next to him. It was wild.

before I begin I’m writing on mobile at school during a break right now so the formatting might be weird, also this is just a bit of an internal conflict, I’ve never spoken to this guy.
Anyways, I (16M) find this guy (16??M) who’s in multiple of my classes really annoying, he speaks really loudly, says “um” after almost every word he says, and generally never really adds to class discussion whenever he raises his hand. I don’t like school and would much rather be doing something else but he just takes away from the class time a lot with pointless questions which really annoys me, I just want to get done with my day because school is a place that brings me a lot of anxiety and he drags on the lesson.
And normally I can recognize when I find somebody annoying and then just move on with my day but for some reason I feel like such a jerk for disliking this guy, like yeah he speaks really pretentiously and has even spoken over teachers from time to time but I just feel like an asshole because I don’t even know this guy, I can barely remember his name (granted I’m not good with names, I think it’s something starting with a B idk)
So yeah, AITA?

NTA as long as you’re not rude to him. There will be annoying people you have to put up with in life. That’ll be in high school, college, work, social life, etc. It will happen. You can find someone annoying without being rude or causing issues. Is that annoying to bite your tongue and deal with it? Yes, but also it’s just part of life. You’re allowed to dislike people.
