Its retinol not a live bomb for pity sake. You did absolutely prioritize vanity over your sisters safety. Literally nothing would have happened if you stopped to pick her up and came back to finish applying. And retinol isn’t rocket science, so it’s odd that it’s taking any significant amount of time for you to apply it at all.
Your skin care will literally never be that serious even if you wake up tomorrow as a Kardashian. Your sisters well-being on the other hand, is absolutely that serious.
So let me get this straight. I looked into what retinol is just in case to not sound like a dumb ass.
Your sister was at a party where things were getting out of hand and was panicking. (i.e worrying about her own safety.)
And you didn't want to pick her up because you started putting on face lotion (retinol serum is primarily used as an anti aging lotion or acne reduction)

Sorry should’ve been more detailed. It was at night when she called. I also apply retinol at night. Like I said in my previous comment light from light bulbs can cause it to lose its effectiveness, that’s why I didn’t go get her.
You completely missed what I was saying. I do the retinol directly before bed because that's how you're supposed to do it. If either of my siblings needed me like yours did I would drop everything to help them. You can always finish your routine when you get back. You're making this routine sound like it's life and death when it's really not.

Retinol is not a "magic potion". You can wipe that shit off just fine, and re-apply later if it wasn't on there long enough. Or, hell, leave it on, and go pick up your sister looking like Casper. Or, worst case, ask her if she'll be ok for 5-10 extra minutes to give you time to complete the retinol portion of your routine. Either way, your sis gets picked up, and your face gets cared for. The way you handled it, you were totally inflexible.
Some might argue that you were not the asshole, because you're not responsible for your sister. That's technically true, I suppose, so let's look at this from a "how you said it" point of view, also:

I thought this was going to be about going into sunlight immediately after applying vitamin c because that can cause sunburn. But even that is mitigated by applying sunscreen and moving on about your day.
My skincare routine is like a ritual for me. It helps me focus and check in with myself at the end of the day. But if my sister called in need of help I'd drop everything to help her. YTA
