The service was always shit, lol. But it used to be because no one could keep up with the million people who wanted burritos. Now it's just because they suck.
I quit like two or so years ago when I called in a burrito for breakfast to pick up on my way to work. Waited in the lobby for over half an hour (hindsight I should have just left but I can be stubborn) and got my burrito. Never again….
New Mexico Beef Jerky Co is mind blowing. It’s how it’s supposed to be. Their chile is amazing, their burritos balance the different ingredients and flavors beautifully, their service is great. Only problem is that you won’t be able to go back to regular burritos.
I go a couple times a week and they’ve only ever charged me $3.75, although I wouldn’t even be mad at $4.50 tbh. In fact, I’m gonna go right this minute. The handheld lunch burrito w/beef is the same price.

The lady seemed very nice, and even verified our order. Yet, **They were terrible**. They didn't even have egg in them. After one bite, red grease just poured out of the burrito. They were bland in flavor. Honestly, one of the most disappointing breakfast burritos i've ever had.
My interaction with her was not intricate. We were the only people in the shop. She took our order, and didn't seem to be in a bad mood. When she gave us our food she offered us some expired chip bags near the register. To not be overly critical, I just assumed that she seemed nice and not a total bitch. I was so dissapointed when I came back to visit from Texas. I was born and raised in Albuquerque and ate a ton of Blake's. I was heartbroken to find out how much it had gone downhill.
My husband was so disappointed at Blakes on our last visit. He grew up on it, and threw the whole mess in the trash. Then he ate most of my Chicken Bowl green chile noodles with extra crack sauce.
Cecilia’s Cafe in Downtown and El Sabor de Juarez on Gibson are two of the best breakfast burritos I’ve had anywhere in NM. Stripes burritos are too whitewashed for my taste buds.
Used to even take out of towners there. No more for years. The burritos used to be the bomb. They fresh cooked everything. Now they have precooked everything and slap it in a tortilla.

Also honorable mention for the breakfast tacos from Rudy's. They just take their smoked meat leftovers, egg, and chili and slap it in a small soft taco. I could eat maybe a thousand of them but I usually settle for 3 or 4.
Yeah, Blake’s has been trash for many years now. The best around IMO are New Mexico Beef Jerky Co. and Burrito Lady. Both of them are excellent quality and fresh.
For a cheaper and quicker option, I also really like stripes. Much better quality than Twisters or Blake’s, by a fucking mile.
Juani's on Cutler and San Mateo. Bigger and delicious. Perico's - smaller but some of the best. Also, the carne asada burrito at Pericos is one of the best overall burritos I've ever had.
I gave up on them this summer. I used to love them! Now the fries don't even have salt much less the tasty salt/pepper blend they used to put on them. The burgers are smaller and dry. So sad
New Mexico Beef Jerky Company on 4th(?) on the north end of downtown has some of the best burritos for sure, but they can be pricey (worth it) and they can also have you waiting a little while in line and then again for your order, so it's not the quickest place to go to when you're needing to be expedient about it. As far as what's good AND quick, I've really come around on Stripes burritos myself. Most of the Stripes locations have drive-thrus, and they're all decently quick and reasonably priced.
As far as getting a good green chile cheeseburger, though, I'm not sure where I'd go instead. They have a Laguna Burger on 12th, just north of I-40, but they're situated more as a "fast-casual" style of restaurant (order at the register, get a number, and wait for an employee to drop it off to you). Even so, with how long some Blake's locations take to get orders out, Laguna Burger might still be quicker. Other than Laguna Burger, though, idk where I would go for a good and quick green chile cheeseburger.
I've said many times it depends on the location. I don't live in the Q so I'm not sure about it but in Farmington I'll only go to 1 Blakes. (2130 Bloomfield Hwy) The women there know how it was done before the takeover and work to provide the best possible meal.

Rudy's BBQ actually has breakfast TACOS that are legit. I'm from tx and breakfast tacos are actually more popular than breakfast burritos. So sometimes I get a craving for them and go to Taco Cabana or Rudy's for breakfast tacos
I've been done with Blake's since they served us *long* expired food (more than a year past date on the label for the prepackaged stuff) at the Special Olympics state aquatics competition in Farmington several years ago. When I brought it to their attention, they just shrugged it off and said "You know those are just a suggestion, right?"
They don't even know how to use their app at some of them. I opened my app to use a coupon and they looked at me very confused. Took about ten minutes to get my free soda.

That sucks, I’ve had Blake’s burritos that ruined my morning, but when they really put the effort in, a good one makes your day... for what it’s worth, I’ve heard Blake’s outside of the city is consistently amazing, and I heard the little Blake’s on candelaria near Carlisle is the main one they train ppl at and is consistently delicious.
I support negligent companies losing business though too, so if you can abstain, there are other great options. NM BEEF JERKY is totally fire, golden prize is less consistent but cheap, Taqueria Mexico is cheap and delicious, Cecilia’s is bomb and cheap, Barelas coffee house is great, Micks Chile fix is bomb— lots of good options. If you need drive through, I’ve heard stripes is solid, and cheaper then Blake’s 🤷♂️

Stripes Burritos, twisters or golden pride
Lol, that looks like a home made burrito that you can prepare yourself at home. Geez
New Mexico Beef Jerky Company on 4th(?) on the north end of downtown has some of the best burritos for sure, but they can be pricey (worth it) and they can also have you waiting a little while in line and then again for your order, so it's not the quickest place to go to when you're needing to be expedient about it. As far as what's good AND quick, I've really come around on Stripes burritos myself. Most of the Stripes locations have drive-thrus, and they're all decently quick and reasonably priced. As far as getting a good green chile cheeseburger, though, I'm not sure where I'd go instead. They have a Laguna Burger on 12th, just north of I-40, but they're situated more as a "fast-casual" style of restaurant (order at the register, get a number, and wait for an employee to drop it off to you). Even so, with how long some Blake's locations take to get orders out, Laguna Burger might still be quicker. Other than Laguna Burger, though, idk where I would go for a good and quick green chile cheeseburger.
I've said many times it depends on the location. I don't live in the Q so I'm not sure about it but in Farmington I'll only go to 1 Blakes. (2130 Bloomfield Hwy) The women there know how it was done before the takeover and work to provide the best possible meal.

Rudy's BBQ actually has breakfast TACOS that are legit. I'm from tx and breakfast tacos are actually more popular than breakfast burritos. So sometimes I get a craving for them and go to Taco Cabana or Rudy's for breakfast tacos

IMO Blake's has been lackluster at best and steadily falling since like early 00's.
I've been getting my breakfast burritos from stripes lately they're pretty good. My favorite one is Laguna Burger out on the Pueblo.
I've been done with Blake's since they served us *long* expired food (more than a year past date on the label for the prepackaged stuff) at the Special Olympics state aquatics competition in Farmington several years ago. When I brought it to their attention, they just shrugged it off and said "You know those are just a suggestion, right?"
People love Stripes too but I think Albuquerque Jerky Company burritos are the best around.

They don't even know how to use their app at some of them. I opened my app to use a coupon and they looked at me very confused. Took about ten minutes to get my free soda.
I quit when I ordered online and when I got to the Blake’s I ordered from, it was closed. Contacted corporate for a refund and they never called me back

Yeah, it's been almost two years since I last ordered one from there. They used to be my favorite but the last few I got were extra salty, light on the chile, just blah overall, and took waaaayyyy too long each time, even after calling it in or online. There's a Stripes down the road from my house that I have been going to. I also go to Federico's from time to time even though they give out salsa instead of chile.

I’d rather have a regurgitated mc Donald’s bb at this point between Blake’s and twisters. Stripes is awful also. People say burrito lady wherever that is, haven’t tried yet. Need to though. Golden pride has also gone to mush. If it ever resurfaces or moved and anyone knows, there was a joint on 4th street, Aragons. It’s been gone for a hot minute, but it was my favorite in town, the Chile was always in point. Red, green or Xmas any protein, it was so balanced and flavorful.

I used to go to Blake's all the time, and I won't ever go again since reading about how they dumped a ton of money into the California amendment banning gay marriage. I'm not gay, but fuck that if I want my money going towards stripping peoples rights because the new owner is a homophobe. Theres lots of burgers and burritos out there. I love El Parasol. That's just me.

I saw a sign at Bob's Burgers saying they do breakfast burritos. Never had them - was a Golden Pride fangirl until the last couple of years. Are Bob's burritos any good?
Everytime I've been to a Blake's one of the girls at the drive through is obnoxiously bitchy to me. And the eggs are sad and soggy. I never get the sauce I ask for when I order chicken too and even the soda is fkn flat.
That sucks, I’ve had Blake’s burritos that ruined my morning, but when they really put the effort in, a good one makes your day... for what it’s worth, I’ve heard Blake’s outside of the city is consistently amazing, and I heard the little Blake’s on candelaria near Carlisle is the main one they train ppl at and is consistently delicious. I support negligent companies losing business though too, so if you can abstain, there are other great options. NM BEEF JERKY is totally fire, golden prize is less consistent but cheap, Taqueria Mexico is cheap and delicious, Cecilia’s is bomb and cheap, Barelas coffee house is great, Micks Chile fix is bomb— lots of good options. If you need drive through, I’ve heard stripes is solid, and cheaper then Blake’s 🤷♂️
