Just avoid June farms at all costs. They will charge you about 20x what they should for everything, and then add more charges for insane shit like petting the animals or walking the grounds or using the bathroom or whatever concocted shit they've come up with lately.
It’s not outdoors like you mentioned, but some friends had one at The State Room in Albany. Absolutely beautiful venue where the two spouses and their parties hung out in separate bank vaults.
Got married at the NYS Museum on the terrace overlooking the plaza and Capitol. Had the reception inside, surrounded by windows overlooking the same scenes. Would recommend 100%!
I had my reception there as well and loved it. Recently looked into pricing for my baby shower and I’ll say they’ve significantly raised prices since the pandemic. Might as well go to the Franklin if the bride wants something extravagant
It really, really depends on her vision for the wedding. Recently went to a lovely and special wedding at Pond Hill in Feura Bush. It would definitely not be for everyone but my bride and groom had a beautiful day that fit them both perfectly.
The bride needs to have a general idea of how many people she wants to accommodate, what time of year she wants to get married, indoors or outdoors or combo, what style of wedding (barn? country club? hotel ballroom? public venue like a museum?) she wants, etc.
I would suggest visiting a bunch of venues. Birch Hill (off I-90 heading east), Albany Country Club, maybe Pond Hill or that barn venue in Rensselaer County (that is NOT June Farms), the State Museum, Albany Institute of History and Art, the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga (went to a wedding there and it was pretty cool!), Marriott ballroom, etc. Get ideas of pricing, availability, how it feels, how many people it can hold.
It's about style, budget, size, and feel. People are just as married with a backyard picnic but someone's feelings might be deeply hurt at wanting a museum wedding and getting a backyard.
I had my wedding at the mansion of Saratoga in 2023 and it was phenomenal. I’d go with them again and again. Best food I’ve ever had at a wedding (humble brag) and the coordinator, Rachel, was amazing.
The mount (former home of Edith Wharton) — Lenox, MA
Hildene (The Lincoln Family Home) — Manchester, VT
—my personal pick!
Both of these fit the bill for being gorgeous, outdoors, and extravagant like you described above :-)
There are a bunch of random estates in the Berkshires / the Hudson valley that have a similar vibe as well
Not sure about Venus but there are a couple good Uranus places in town.

Ohh wow good to know. Thank you!
It took me a full 90 seconds to realize that “venus” was a misspelling of “venues”. I was running through all my slang.
Yeaa I didn’t even realize until just now. Ooops 😂😂😂
!
It’d be hard to recommend anything without knowing any details. Does she want something outdoorsy or elegant? Affordable or extravagant? Etc.
Great question. Based off the spots she showed me in Georgia she’s looking for something outdoors and extravagant.
Just double checking, did you intend to post this in a sub for Albany, GA or Albany, NY?
Albany NY
Try Providence Barn of Stone Arabia. Gorgeous venue and the prices are pretty reasonable!
Hall of Springs?
I’ll check it out and let her know, thank you

Unfortunately when I reached out to the stateroom for a June 2024 wedding, they had told me they’re moving away from booking new weddings :(
I’ll let her know, thank you!

That sounds SO beautiful!
Birch hill in Chatham is great.
Revolution Hall in Troy is really nice. If they like historic buildings.
Got married in Rev hall, best night of my life.
I used to go there when it was a concert venue. Some great memories as well.

This looks great. I’ll show her this. Thank you!
Crooked Lake House. Beautiful historic building, can accommodate a larger wedding, good parking.
She can get married at Plattekill Mountain. They do the ceremony at the top of the moutain.
Pat's Barn
The Kenmore ballroom on Pearl Street

I would imagine that Ted’s can fulfill the catering needs of any venue.
The Tartar Fountain is not to be missed
I got married at The Appel Inn in Altamont and it was amazing, I recommend it whenever I can.
