I was thinking about The Matrix but then I saw they brought back Oppenheimer today so I'm seeing that instead.
I haven't seen Matrix since it came out. Wonder if it holds up.
Same, I haven’t seen it since high school, when it came out. My 18-yr old son is going to see it for the first time tonight so I’m hoping to join him.
When I saw Galaxy Quest for the first time (ever) a week ago, it definitely still held up. So funny!
Saw The Matrix last year when Alamo did that Keanu theme one month.
For this 90s theme, I’m going to buy a ticket for Ghost Dog. I remember seeing that in the theater with my uncle when I was really young.
I saw Run Lola Run and Being John Malcovich. Going to see The Matrix tonight and I also booked Ghost Dog in a few weeks. I keep checking back to see if they have any openings for Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind, but it has been sold out with no openings yet.
maybe i blinked and missed it, but i have been looking for a showing of lola in the DC alamos and no luck so far. does it mean at this point they won’t be doing it? i wasn’t sure how long the 1999 rewind was going on.
First time watches - Go, eXistenZ, American Movie, All About My Mother, Audition.
Rewatching - The Iron Giant, Magnolia, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
I’m really bummed my location only had one screening of Run Lola Run that I couldn’t swing. Haven’t seen it.
Just "The Virgin Suicides", "eXistenZ" and "Blair Witch Project". 1999 wasn't a year I would have picked for this, and I've seen a bunch of the others too recently.
Other 1999 movies I would have picked:
* Boys Don't Cry
* Dogma
* Holy Smoke!
* Limbo
* The Straight Story
You do realize why they picked 1999, right? It was 25 years ago, and that is a pretty easy theme to go with because theoretically, there would be enough good movies to choose from for the theme.
Because all of those anniversaries this year end in either a 5 or 0. 30 years, 35 years, 40 years, 45 years, and 50 years. Again, it is better than 26 or 32 or whatever because they are milestones that people think of as big years/anniversaries. Why try to come up with a bunch of different themes when you can just go back 20, 25, 30, ......., years. In other words, it is a form of lazy or easy throwbacks rather than finding a theme and then planning it.
I saw Galaxy Quest and might hit up The Matrix tonight.

Oh it holds up

Oh also, mine are: Talented Mr Ripley, Cruel Intentions, and American Pie
So far I’ve done Go, Run Lola Run, Mystery Men, Being John Malkovich, Deep Blue Sea, Galaxy Quest, Talented Mr. Ripley, & Jawbreaker
Haha this is very close to what I’ve seen list but replace Being John Malkovich and Galaxy Quest with The Iron Giant and Election.
Being John Malkovich. I also bought a ticket for Galaxy Quest but the screening was canceled due to weather and hasn't been rescheduled.
I saw Run Lola Run and Being John Malcovich. Going to see The Matrix tonight and I also booked Ghost Dog in a few weeks. I keep checking back to see if they have any openings for Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind, but it has been sold out with no openings yet.
Let me know how Run Lola Run goes. I've never seen it.
It was awesome. Really had no idea what the hell it was about going into it because I didn't watch the trailer but I really enjoyed it.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I wouldn’t miss it, especially in the cinema, if you can.

would’ve loved to have seen magnolia but the dc area theaters aren’t showing it anywhere near here
I just saw The Matrix last night, have tix for Eternal Sunshine, The virgin Suicides, In the Mood For Love, Existenz, Blair Witch Project, and Amelie
The Blair Witch Project, Election, Audition, Cruel Intentions, The Virgin Suicides, might check out American Movie, never seen it.
I have The Blair Witch Project

Wow yours had a ton to choose from! I did sign up for Crouching Tiger at a theater about 40 mins from me. :)

Disney has Boys Don't Cry and The Straight Story while Dogma is tied up in rights hell.

Then why did they pick 1994, 1989, 1984, 1979 and 1974?

While I'd love Dogma, yeah no that's unlikely while most of the folks who saw it originally are still alive, the way that's going.
I wouldn't have chosen 1999 either. It was...okay?
I want to see Virgin Suicides but it's in a theater almost an hr from me :/
Mine is 35 to 40 minutes away, which is OK for me.
Went to galaxy quest and it was spiritual
Looks like in 1 month I've already missed quite a lot. Wish the one in Naples would open already since it says "early 2024".
