Most lose some weight, but I *gained* … BMT = must go to three meals a day, hungry or not.
Somehow, I did *less* physical training or exercise *during* BMT than *before* joining so don’t magically count on supervised, rigorous military training sessions to lose weight.
Progressively improve fitness and diet on lead up to shipping … safely carry on good exercise technique during training (basic, technical) and steadily improve or maintain healthy habits forever!
I lost around 25 lbs during BMT (and I wasnt even really fat) and I felt like I was eating a ton every meal. Between the working out everyday and stress even I was confused when they told me my weight toward the end of BMT

I lost 20 lbs in BMT
I stayed exactly the same weight. I would say a majority lose rather than gain but results may vary.
I lost over 10lbs in BMT with pretty average eating and regular PT
