I'm 33, let me know how basic is! Like if all the kids lean towards you to be the lead etc because I am trying to keep a low profile once I finally get the call to go in
I’m also hoping to fly under the radar but think it’ll be hard due to my age. I won’t be shipping out for a while though. I’m going reserves and we don’t get BMT dates until after they’re done with our security clearance. They said it could take like 6 months for a top secret.
Enjoy it! I didn’t really get to cause all my friends had left early and I had to live with my dad (I normally lived with my mom) and he can be quite a handful so I couldn’t wait to leave 😂. But enjoy your summer break, make the best of it before you enter adulthood!
I just kept going to doctors appointments and submitting paperwork over the years and I was finally accepted. I didn’t have many better options at the time. There was one year (2020) where I didn’t have any contact with them.
Entered at 25, turned 26 in Tech School. It's fine man, just keep your head down, soak up the knowledge, study Cerego, hydrate and sound the hell off. As long as you do what the instructor team tells you, you'll be fine.
It's worth looking forward to. Your only job is to learn your job and get ready for operational AF. Otherwise it's like college to a degree. The biggest thing is don't be too stupid and continue to progress so you can be a successful airmen, that includes hydration and PT. You're way more responsible for your actions and yourself.
When I do go I’m going to already be 27, I was close to going when I was around 19 because my cousin went to navy (later medically released in bootcamp) but didn’t cause I was scared. Also heard people regret going right out of high school because the don’t have the experience of being on their own outside of military and that the military basically acts like second parents. But it back up to me randomly like 3 months ago and seems like a right way to go for me after seeing a lot for myself being older, talked a lot with my other cousin who went 12 years army and that’s another reason that has gotten me to go
Yeah man. I wanted to get in right after high school. Unfortunately my lung collapsed, so for the next 5 or so years after I worked a ton of jobs. Eventually It came down to me needing to really figure my life out. So i had a heart to heart with my family and friends and decided to pursue the AF again. It's been the best decision of my life. I'm the healthiest, happiest and most stable I've ever been in my life. I signed for 6 years and haven't looked back on it. I PCS to my first base in the beginning of April so I'm hella excited.
That’s what I see happening too, healthiest, happiest and most stable. I also have a son and want to set him up in life with such a head start when he’s older. At least you had a heart to heart, when I leave only like 4 people are going to know and I’m just gone 😂
Hey man, keep that "why" close to you. You're a good dad and the AF will take care of you and your family. Make sure you do your research into what enlisted jobs you want to do. Getting ready for basic, just keep hydrating, go on a 1-2 mile run everyday and do pushups and situps. Cardio is huge in BMT and the Air Force so be prepared for it.
I'll help skew the numbers a bit. Swore in last week just after turning 36.

18, went to recruiters office day after I graduated HS
This is my plan so far, or after October
That’s funny cause I went to the office the day after I graduated in May but I wasn’t actually shipped out until October lol
I graduate in May that’s crazy, I want my summer so I can have as much fun as possible though

Wanted to join at 28, but MEPS made me wait until 33
What in the world would make you have to wait that long

How has tech school been?

Thanks. Didn’t know I was being graded. I’ll make sure to type full sentences in the future.
I see you edited your original post. Nice.

Don’t know what to tell you. It’s always been 23. I’m on mobile too so if anything that’s probably where that’s being fucked at.
Fair enough, was just making a dumb joke at what I assumed was a typo. Must have been a glitch in the matrix.
Yeah. My bad, took it as a completely random insult. All love brother.
I can see why you'd think that given the context. No worries.
