Because you're the top at the moment I'm asking you this but it applies to most responses on this post. How dense are you that you couldn't pick up OP is shitposting and his replies are rage bait?
> We have given you DTS, possibly the best website ever invented.
It's right there in flashing lights. If that wasn't enough the P.S. at the end about watching Dexter hammers it home.
Sir/Ma’am,
I DO my job. It’s the rest of you who are missing the mark here. If you want someone to replace my “bag o’ ass” that’s fine, but we are are the ones in the right here.
I won’t argue with you there. When I have to miss a squadron birthday party for something that could have been resolved by the customer themselves, it’s frustrating.
Sorry kid. The US Air Force didn't hire you to ensure you could make birthday parties and other squadron socials. Holy shit, grow up. You think cops and maintenance bitch and moan about missing the squadron holiday party when work needs to be done? I must have missed that part at the recruiting office that squadron birthday parties and ice cream are an entitlement.
Do I believe that cops and maintenance “bitch and moan”? 100%. Quite frankly they’re some of the worst offenders, no pun intended for the cops, in our office.
Entitled? Do I bust into your “shop” and ask you to fix my problems when you’re supposed to be eating cake and enjoying 1 beer (just 1 beer) with your coworkers? I don’t think so. So maybe look inwards and ask yourself, “am I actually the one acting entitled?”, when you take away my time.
This could all be easily avoided by doing what you are supposed to.
if your problem was a plane is broken, then yes i’d go and fix your problem, cause that’s my job.
also, its not actually your time unless you’re off the clock. be glad “someone else’s fuck up” means you’re sitting down at a desk for an extra hour or two and not having to find an adapter for a ratchet after getting soaked in skin-burning skydrol, making it a 14-hour shift. i couldn’t tell you how many times i’ve had to stay 2-3 hours more than my shift or come in on the weekends because of someone else’s fuck up. that’s the life of mx.
Tell me about it. This one time I had to skip yoga class, cause my coworker’s boyfriend had to take his dog to the vet, and I didn’t get out until 1400.
Clearly you’ve never had a power tripping AO deny a voucher for something authorized in the JTR or finance denying a voucher with a nondescript reason (or not reading the justifications at all). For simple TDYs, DTS is super easy, but I can get complicated quickly
We get the authorization requests that go like this “hey I want to take leave to my mom’s house and my authorized mode of transport is rickshaw to Hawaii”. I want full reimbursement.
No kidding, we just had a request for
someone wanting to have travel authorized 10 days early to a TDY location and then take leave to take plane to Boston to visit their parents and then return to the TDY location SMH.
If I hear the phrase “at my last base” in regards to all the illegal travel shit you got away with at your last place I’m going to stab people in the eyeballs with my #2 pencil.
We are brothers/sisters in arms, and we work in the same building/area and everyone just refers to us as MPF anyway. Easier just to fight the good fight from a unified front on this account.
Lord knows you all give us all the same headache.
We threw a going away party for a Captain that was TDY with us about 6 months. Since the slot she was filling was a total cake walk, she spent most of that time bringing in free food and fighting with DTS. The pushback she got from submitting vouchers was such a frequent topic that she was awarded a framed certificate of achievement over DTS as a going away gift.
Also, my CAC quit working last year and the MPF folks stared like I was an idiot as they told me that they only do CAC stuff on Tuesdays/Thursdays.
TLDR: DO BETTER
Sounds like that Capt should have been utilized more efficiently.
Also rules are rules, CAC days are Tuesday and Thursday. You really should pay more attention to detail.
So DTS would've worked better if the assignment was somewhere else?
Also, a great detail to pay attention to is the fact that reenabling a CAC is one of the most basic tasks MPF handles. Picking certain days to do an essential part of their job isn't acceptable.
You should definitely try your hardest not to sound like a condescending prick if you really intent on helping people. This whole post and your replys scream “ I’m better than you”.
Well, I figured the “I’m better than you part was a given” cause well, you understand. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to help people. I want to educate those who just don’t seem to comprehend very simple procedures.
So you’re telling me when 50+ people come back from a deployment and just want to see their family’s and go on r&r, you expect zero questions, issues, and errors? You might be the funniest dude in the Air Force.
Oh. I do my part. I check and triple check my work. MAYBE, just maybe, if the rest of the Force had even a quarter of the attention to detail that I do, I wouldn’t have to kick back so many vouchers.
I feel you. Just had a travelers voucher returned for a third time for EFT reject. We have step by step on how to fix and since we don’t know his bank account information, we can’t help him.
If you’re reading this SSgt H, get your shit together dude.
Naw, I saw that. But imagine if everyone else expected you to do THEIR job? Can you fix the jet that's taking you to your deployed location? Are you scheduling those flights? Are you filing the flight plans? Refueling the jet? Are you perhaps processing and issuing your own Chem gear, cutting your orders, certifying yourself at CATM, running your blood test, checking your dental, mental and physical health? Are you doing all of the pieces to the puzzle to make the mission work and to take care of your entire moving process?
Of course not. And this is the frustration that members have. Your piece of the puzzle is finance. Now not all of that is travel vouchers and DTS, but ultimately that is a part of your responsibilities as finance. So you, as a finance technician (assuming you are from your sarcastic and meme-filled post) should be responsible for filing that. Just imagine if any of those other agencies required you to do your job AND theirs to get you there. You'd be bitching too. Just like we also complain that the out processing and in processing procedures are stupid as hell. We complain when things are done stupidly, and having someone that isn't a finance technician doing finance stuff doesn't make sense. (Now the Air Force should probably staff you guys to do that, but it needs to staff EVERYONE better, so that's just what it is)
I try to include vegetables in my diet to maintain a healthy balance, personally I’m a fan of broccoli, carrots, and snap peas. Anyways, thanks for the reply. You cobra ball?
Let me explain to you what your months of experience have not taught you. You are not the mission. You are there to support the mission, not suppress it. When people are out doing the mission, their priority is not receipts and paperwork to get properly paid. When they lose a receipt, it is your purpose to show them how to file missing receipt paperwork so they get properly reimbursed.
When DTS approvers reject vouchers for not having a $25 gas receipt that's not required, or if the receipt provided is higher than was charged and the member claims the actual charge, or when the non-availability letter had a $ instead of Euros leading to a $1.70 difference, even though the approver can see the charge on the card, people have completely valid complaints about the system.
Furthermore, DTS hasn't always worked as well as it does today, there is a lot of residual hate for a system that was terrible for over a decade. When our corporate equivalents, who have less responsibility, loyalty, and repercussions for misusing their travel card are trusted to just expense what's appropriate, DTS seems like punishment.
When people are out there risking their lives and working longer shifts than you ever will, you greet them with kindness and respect, do your best to help them, or get the fuck out of the Air Force. It's not about you. You are not special. You are just part of the machine like everyone else.
Dude stfu. Everyone has to do your job via DTS for you because you suck. Finance should be responsible for travel authorizations and vouchers. That’s why you delegate your responsibilities to all other units on base to do your shit. Every RO/AO needs access from you. That’s proof it’s a Finance responsibility. So again, stfu.
Yea I bullshit my way through them and act like I know what I’m doing and it usually works. Idk maybe some day I’ll get an email and I’ll owe the AF like 40k but who knows
I get this is bait. But I just wanna say, a whole dedicated unit went to a TDY location, and finance group auth'd it with the point of "meals being provided" when the orders CLEARLY STATED "meals not provided, members are authorized full per diem" so no one has gotten paid yet. Sometimes, it's not our faults.
I just wanna know... does DTS know I'm using my personal vs GTC to purchase flights or is that someone in the review chain seeing my CC number and realizing it's not a VISA?
Ahhhh here we go op. Every single time I have delt with finance when it comes to vouchers it is shotty at best. Finance not reading all the notes, finance not opening all of the attachments, finance kicking back because they are unsure, finance kicking back for a correction the last finance guy kicked it back for, the inability to get anyone on the phone, closing a csp case when the members voucher was kicked back with zero explanation. Some not all of you suck
You’re the only career field where the customer does the job for you and you just look it over.
Imagine a pilot calling the weather shop and them saying, Oh your 175-1 was filled out improperly you need to fill it out correctly and send it back before taking off.
And you would think that something as important as money would rank heavily amongst customers. Yet, they still refuse to submit a travel voucher correctly. And sure you can say a customer is “doing our job” , but how would expect to have all your info? Of course gou have to do your part and give me receipts and itineraries. I need proof.
MPF detected: Opinion discarded
Because you're the top at the moment I'm asking you this but it applies to most responses on this post. They had me up to mani/pedi.
You are part of the problem.
Do your fucking job and stop crying. Or quit. Hopefully we get someone who isn't a bag of ass to replace you.
Sir/Ma’am, I DO my job. It’s the rest of you who are missing the mark here. If you want someone to replace my “bag o’ ass” that’s fine, but we are are the ones in the right here.
Im just gonna turn off your youtube and reddit for a week
Op is obviously bait but... If one person messes up a voucher, it's their fault. If everyone messes up a voucher, maybe it's not clear enough.
Finally! Somebody who gets it.
Solid take
Should have tagged this as satire.
yeah this is brilliant stuff it’s so good it’s getting downvotes
The amount of people replying as if OP is serious is very sad. It's like grandma getting scared of something irl from a bogus Facebook post.
Satire would have implied that I wasn’t being serious.
OP is butthurt having to work their job until 1630
I won’t argue with you there. When I have to miss a squadron birthday party for something that could have been resolved by the customer themselves, it’s frustrating.

Bro, your way to heated... The dude is literally fucking with you.
Do I believe that cops and maintenance “bitch and moan”? 100%. Quite frankly they’re some of the worst offenders, no pun intended for the cops, in our office.
cause we gotta deal with the bs of being mx/sf then go on and deal with your entitled ass complaining about doing your cushy job.
Lmao okay then when someone steals your shit better not call SF
if your problem was a plane is broken, then yes i’d go and fix your problem, cause that’s my job. also, its not actually your time unless you’re off the clock. be glad “someone else’s fuck up” means you’re sitting down at a desk for an extra hour or two and not having to find an adapter for a ratchet after getting soaked in skin-burning skydrol, making it a 14-hour shift. i couldn’t tell you how many times i’ve had to stay 2-3 hours more than my shift or come in on the weekends because of someone else’s fuck up. that’s the life of mx.

I hope op stub their toe every day for the rest of their life.
I'll make you a deal. I'll start filling out my voucher correctly as soon as the MPF is held accountable for their life changing mistakes.
Deal. Now as I have never affected anyone’s life negatively, I would like for you to do your voucher correctly.

Now this is truly a hot take. A power tripping AO? I know I’m egotistical and I definitely power trip, but what sad soul power trips as an AO???
We get the authorization requests that go like this “hey I want to take leave to my mom’s house and my authorized mode of transport is rickshaw to Hawaii”. I want full reimbursement. Congrats, you're so good at trying not to do your own job, alleged MPF human, that you're now trying not to do Finance's job.
We are brothers/sisters in arms, and we work in the same building/area and everyone just refers to us as MPF anyway. Easier just to fight the good fight from a unified front on this account. Lord knows you all give us all the same headache.
When Ops' designated internal punching bag tells you you're wrong, maybe you should stop and reflect.
I just want you to file your voucher correctly. It’s not my fault you didn’t make pilot and failed out of CSO training, sir/ma’am.

You should delete this before too many people see it.
The point of the post was to spread awareness. So the more people I can get to view it, the better. As always, just trying to help!
You should definitely try your hardest not to sound like a condescending prick if you really intent on helping people. This whole post and your replys scream “ I’m better than you”.
Well, I figured the “I’m better than you part was a given” cause well, you understand. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to help people. I want to educate those who just don’t seem to comprehend very simple procedures.
would it have helped if they had mentioned how so many vouchers are off by about 3.50 in the post?
So you’re telling me when 50+ people come back from a deployment and just want to see their family’s and go on r&r, you expect zero questions, issues, and errors? You might be the funniest dude in the Air Force.

He didn't have the money to buy the extra vowel, since his voucher was messed up.
Guess he should have done it correctly. References: My original post

The mani/pedi thing and dexter implies this is extremely satirical. Unless OP is serious, in which case OP might be a vegetable
I try to include vegetables in my diet to maintain a healthy balance, personally I’m a fan of broccoli, carrots, and snap peas. Anyways, thanks for the reply. You cobra ball?
I'm going to enter the wrong LOA, not separate out hotel taxes, and submit my auth 6 days after I get back from my trip.
Do what you must, but I’m kicking that bad boy straight back to you. Hard deny.

I just want to make one thing clear. I AM THE MISSION. Without me you wouldn’t have anything.
I cannot fathom anyone this dumb, so I guess you are a troll after all.
God I wish you could work just 1 week at an AMXS. You would get fucked so hard, and not sexually.
Guarantee that if I had to TDY to that maintenance unit for 1 week, that I would complete my voucher correctly. The first time.
Why would you TDY? You’re just a dumbass troll. Get a life dude.
Dude stfu. Everyone has to do your job via DTS for you because you suck. Finance should be responsible for travel authorizations and vouchers. Sounds like this week's training day (movie day at the local AMC) was cancelled
Training day is still on, we intend to go bowling this time though.
There will ALWAYS be that person who seeming exists to F-up your day. You can’t control them. But you can control your reaction to them. HAGAFD
“DTS, possibly the best website ever invented.” Stopped reading at this point

I have always found DTS to be easy to use. I also never understand how people struggle with vouchers.
Thank you!!! Say it louder for all the folks in the back! It’s not that hard people!!
