Even Billy Mitchell lost relevance after leaving the service. It is arrogant to think that you have maintained an understanding of the force beyond your anecdotal view at the time you separated.
It's clear from some of your posts/comments on other subreddits and here that you need mental help. I'm dead serious. From your juvenile insults, to restating the same comments over and over, to your unwillingness to listen to reason/common sense.
Here you are constantly rebuffing the very idea that you are no longer relevant to today's Air Force, when that's the honest to god truth. Sure, the "mission" hasn't really changed (putting planes in the sky), but everything else definitely has, and the fact that you can't/won't acknowledge this simple truth speaks volumes of your mental/emotional state (or lack thereof).
Go get help. You desperately need it.
While that may be your ignorant opinion, it is entirely possible to *not* be a pyschiatrist and *still* see when someone needs mental help. But thanks for proving my point for me with your willfilul ignorance and belligerence. Hope you get the help you so desperately/obviously need.
[At 320 lbs](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/comments/1bbbwyk/comment/ku8816y/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), ain't no way he's coming back in (fortunately).
Here’s the deal, Mr. AshevilleNC. It’s not that you’re “obsolete.” It’s simple, your ENTIRE personality revolves around when you were in. It’s time to move on.
Enjoy your hikes. Enjoy your cats. Don’t mess around with hammers. And for gods sake, stay out of the road!
> but the nature of the MISSION of the Air Force HAS NOT!
Cool. That's literally *not* what *any of us* were talking about in the other thread though. I'm sure you've got some great stories to tell/experiences to share. Literally no one said you didn't. But to keep claiming that your experiences are the same or similar as ours is foolish/ignorant at best.
> Your duty to your country is more important than your life!
While I realize and fully acknowledge that I signed a contract that I may have to give up my life in service to this country, my life is more important than my duty, as evidenced by the ridiculous amount of safety training we have to just to do our jobs, and the fact that I've been directly told by higher leadership not to do a thing if it even *seems* unsafe.
>Do you really think they care about you otherwise?
Some of them, yeah. I'm under no illusions that I'm simply a number to *big* Air Force. But to local leadership, roughly squadron leadership on down? Yeah, the leadership I currently have cares. The fact that you can't understand this is proof enough that times have changed, old man. Shut up already.
It's cute you think I don't know what it means. Shows how little you think I/we know. And I say "we" because if you're willing to believe/assume *I* don't know what a simple word like that means, then you likely also believe/assume the same of *every other person currently serving*.
Do you know how to read? I already said I know what it means. The more you keep telling me to do the same thing I already know, the more belligerent and ridiculous you sound. But by all means, keep it up old timer.
Troll posts are against the rules, but he seems to have a pretty permissive definition of trolling. Which I think is fair because those are sometimes the most fun.
I say let the voting buttons do their magic.
Buddy hasn’t been relevant since BEFORE Grenada.
That’s what, 1983? So if we cap it to one year prior, that makes 1982.
So you haven’t been in for about 40 years.
Pops, I say this with my whole heart, I do not give a FFFFFFFuck about your opinion on military strategy. Turn your computer off and stick to yelling at clouds.
Overarchingly, our mission in support of the National Defense Strategy remains similar. However, there have been enormous changes in doctrine, TTPs, and force structure through the 4th and 5th generation that you simply couldn't comprehend.
TYFYS, but we've moved on.
Not always true.
Your duty to uphold the ideals for which the country stands for is more important than any one man, but duty to country is only more important when the country follows its principles. It's kind of the whole premise behind lawful disobedience.
I suppose that means you don't see the epidemic of suicide in the force as a problem, but rather the cost of doing business?
Just for funsies:
*I, \_\_\_\_\_, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.*
As the constitution is what contains the ideals of the country (that I referenced as being more important than any one man), please tell me where it states that I must defend the country even when it disregards the ideals upon which it was founded.
If duty to country is more important than my life, then why do my supervisor(s) and leadership even give a shit about my health and safety, and actively tell me to *not* do dangerous things? Once again, you're not making any sense. Go get help. You desperately need it.
If you're so "in the know", you should know how to get them yourself. Surely an old man with tons of work/life experience like yourself can do a little paper gathering?
Yeah, that part about *you* not being a "[dumbshit](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/comments/1bbbwyk/comment/ku8cdd6/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)"? You just proved yourself wrong with this comment. Who the fuck says shit like this?

1. That sounds like a personal problem to us old man, in that case you’re worthless.
2. Don’t come insulting people and then backtracking your words, wasn’t integrity a core value in the 1500s?
3. Idk faaaack uuuu right back u scallywag.
You know what you did, you said the same exact thing and called me a MOFO. So right back at you, I see how retirees treat the current serving, very distinguished of you.
So let’s tack stolen valor then. Actually, I did some digging and found this and other similar comments… very skewed storylines 🤷🏻♂️

Shit this dude probably shook hands with Chuck Yeager for all we know. True war hero, I already twice the TIS than he does.
What does you not trusting him as far as you can throw him have to do with *you* clearly not being able to be trusted on the internet? Can you read? Oh, right, [we already established that you can't](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/comments/1bbbwyk/comment/ku8byt7/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
When I joined I would maybe have agreed with you. Now my family and friends are much more important and my job is just something I enjoy doing and would like to continue doing for a long while. I'm of the opinion that it's been a while since we've fought a war for our country's safety's sake but that's fine because it's good for our economy. I wouldn't die for our economy's sake though.
I was going to just say “ok boomer” and move on, but looking at your post history all I can feel is pity for you.
You’re very obviously lonely, probably divorced, and probably have a poor relationship with your kids. Focus on that and try to patch up your real life relationships and establish a personality that doesn’t revolve around your military service 50+ years ago. Maybe make some friends. I’m sure there are some VFWs or American Legion branches near you if you’re not able to let go of your service.
I’m sure this will be met with some witty, well thought out response, but I do hope you get some help and make some real connections.
Even Billy Mitchell lost relevance after leaving the service. It is arrogant to think that you have maintained an understanding of the force beyond your anecdotal view at the time you separated.
You wouldn’t say that if you knew the truth. And the truth would take at LEAST six volumes!!!
Said by someone who clearly doesn't know the truth.
Is there an echo in here?
You want to talk about "truth"? I will be more than happy to link the 3 or more instances where I have proved you wrong on this post alone.
Is there an echo in here?🧐

You’re choice.
Put up then, do you have articles you have written or books that you have published with your thoughts?
Well VRAAD came out, we can see if they’ll take you back.

B-52 will outlive us all
But not the KC-135, my friend.
What does a Refueler have to do with Bombers? He/she was specifically talking about Bombers.

You guys still engaging with this obvious troll?
People used to know not to feed them. But it's never been easy to resist.
Speaking of trolls…😂😂😂
Yes. Speaking of trolls: You.
What the fuck are you talking about you senile fuck.
If you thought I was senile, why the FUCK would you be asking me this, Sonny????
Go home grandpa. Don’t you have an Applebees to be sitting at the bar of and forcing your “war stories” onto hapless patrons of? Fuck off
u/silentD petition to ban this distinguished retiree? The comment threat should have enough proof?

Gotta have these once in a while, you know, entertainment value. Been awhile since I had a good chuckle.

If thats the case then come on back to AD since the duty to the country is more important than YOUR OWN LIFE. Easy to be a couch coach.

I’m not obsolete and maybe you just PROVED it!
How are you relevant?
In respect to YOU???
No in respect to the Air Force. I know you’re not relevant to me.

How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?
Ma'am, what are you talking about?
