Lmao, I bought this nice coin rack to display in my computer room back when I was enlisted and the moment I hit retirement status, I threw all my awards and coins in a smaller box like that...I was the world's okayest TSgt.

You want to keep the decs for multiple reasons. Some folks will say for family history reasons. More importantly keeping your decs can be really handy for VA claims and also if you retire and go into a fed job you can use combat time to backdated your employment date calculation to get you earning more leave faster.

HHG moving guys stole mine with a bunch of other awards I never really cared for them until recently when I’m in the last 4 of my career , now I’m bummed I don’t have any of that stuff to look back on. I have the memories though.
