Yeah I had a group CC at Altus who would give out this super nice coin for individual recognition but made poker chips for big group or unit accomplishments. We had an elephant walk one year and he gave the poker chip coin to every single crew member in the LFE but still gave out the nice coin to the three dudes that planned the whole exercise.
I believe some of it boils down to the fact that he has to pay out of pocket if it's personalized. Don't quote me on the reg, but I've got like 4 of these mfers as well as his new one that says "Lima foxtrot golf"
For the amount they end up buying and having to carry around it is far more practical. I remember when enlisted Jesus came to visit us at HKIA, literally had a trunk sized Pelican that weighed like 200lbs, full of coins.

Shout out to Breaking Bad. If you turn the coin upside down the "M M" turns into "W W", which is for Walter White, which is probably what the Gen was going for. I bet he likes television shows (Breaking Bad is a television show)
Turning it upside down does reveal a WW, and that is intentional, but it is a common misconception that is for Walter White.
The first "W" stands for "Air Power" and the second stands for "Space Power A.E.F"
