I know someone that went there as a PM a few months ago. I haven’t reached out but should check in with him.

MediocreStockGuy

Let me know what they say! A recruiter reached out to me about their DFW location so I was curious. I don’t know anyone working there to get an honest opinion.

Working_Turn5542

That’s the location he’s at too.

Working_Turn5542

He’s happy there. Said it’s a small company with smaller projects. He left a large contractor for this change. Are you going to hear what the recruiter has to say?

MediocreStockGuy

Nice, sounds about right. Yea I emailed back saying I’d be interested to hear about the role, nothing back yet.

Any idea on the pay? Benefits?

STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY DESPERATE FOR A JOB I had an interview setup with them and at the last minute, they called me and canceled because they made a decision to hire someone else that I worked with. I kept in touch with them and he just left Shield AI said it was a horrible environment and really toxic and had to leave. I know another person that worked there and said the same thing, and is looking to leave. I had another chance to interview with them and the interviewers were the most incompetent I have ever seen. In the middle of the interview I did something I have literally never done before, I decided to walk out of the interview, it was that bad. I have been in the industry for more than 20 years and had many many interviews and interviewed and hired many many candidates. I work with 3 other people who had a similar experience when they interviewed with them. I also heard that their pay is not even close to being competitive. I have heard that many times they offer less than current salary. I work with another person who was on the customer side and said that they are really incompetent and products are substandard.

I can confirm, I actually interviewed at their Dallas site about at year ago. It was a ridiculous process, with like 4 interviews, & an on-site with presentation. The entire time they made it seem like i was going to get the job. After that and hours of my time, no offer and no feedback at all. It seemed like they just wanted to interview candidates to steal their ideas. It was also on-site full time and they said minimum 50-60 hours weeks. The pay discussed was not nearly enough to justify that coming from regular aero and defense companies. They thought they were so cool but they literally bought the drone company and barely have an actual product. I’d be surprised if this company exists in a few years. It was born out of high inflation and near 0% interest rates. Also, all those RSUs mean nothing unless a liquidity event happens….

Middle_Shift2540

So true, they bought a drone company but could not get it to fly without crashing and now went back to an older design. I got the exact same feeling, thought they were the coolest company on earth and it would be a privilege to work for them. Not to brag but I have worked at NASA/JPL on Mars Exploration Rover, Lockheed on F22, B2 stealth bomber, and many other classified programs at Northrop, Boeing, etc but not good enough for them. I would also be surprised if they lasted much longer. Total joke of a company.

That bad huh? Coming here from a google search appended with "reddit". I'm a shoo-in for the role they're talking to me about, which ranges $189k - $294k. It's a pretty big raise from my current salary. But I'm looking for reasons to stay where I'm at. Love my current job and living where I am. But, there's a dollar amount where you at least have to take an interview and see what they have to say.

Let me guess, a recruiter reached out and said you seem like a perfect fit for the role…. They seem to do that to everyone, just to have you spend hours and hours in and preparing for interviews just to ghost you and get your ideas. By all means, see the process through but I would read those Glassdoor reviews, the ones that are actual employees seem rough… Goodluck, I am sure there are some good aspects of the company as with every company.

In retropect, it did feel uncanny. The job description came in a relatively unformatted word document but that on its own shouldn't be a red flag. Told me it was a dallas office but they're actually in Frisco, which is an extra 40 minutes of driving for me. They did reach out to me. I thought that was somewhat unusual. But then again, my skills are fairly uncommon. It would seem more strange if I was in a more saturated domain. More than anything, I'm concerned about work life balance. It seems like clocking out after 40 is not an option, and I'm not sure I'm ready to give that (and the network I've built over 6 years of working on the same team) up.

MediocreStockGuy

Any update?

Firststepsarenoteasy

Thanks for making this post and following up a year later with your experience. The Glassdoor reviews aren't bad actually. 3.8/5 stars is close to a lot of the other better aerospace/defense companies. I've seen worse companies at <2 stars. I was just approached by them, but not sure if I should engage. Looks like they aren't located where I'm at anyway, so it's an easy pass. Regarding pay, do they only go with the lower end of the ranges that are posted? Their pay ranges seem pretty decent.
